Let t er from J im Brow n, CEO 3 . Congratulations on a successful Vital Voices Engagement Survey. This is our sixth consecutive survey with improvement. Our overall Engagement Index remained at 84, comparable to our Division average and nine points favorable to the HCA average, Nursing improved from 79 to 80, and PCTs improved from 70 to 86. We had a strong response rate of 64% with 795 of our team completing the survey. We received 705 comments which we will review in detail to determine actionable themes. Of the twelve categories surveyed, two improved and two declined with eight remaining constant. Support and Resources each improved with Retention and Recognition declining. Our top categories were Care (“My manager cares about me as a person.”), Support (“My manager helps remove barriers that could prevent me from doing my best work.”), and Meaningful Conversations (“I have meaningful conversations with my manager.”). The most frequently sited need as it relates to Resources was “tools and equipment”. Departments achieving an Engagement Index of 100, “100 Club”, were Quality, Accounting, Histology, and Retail Pharmacy. Departments having an Engagement Index of 90 or greater included Security, Infusion, FSED Fry Rd., FSED Towne Lake, PT, Central Sterile Processing, and Nursing Administration. Each of these departments will be provided a departmental celebration. Nursing improved in ten of twelve categories, one declined, and one remained constant. The biggest gainers were 5 (+26), PAT (+22), 3 (+16), and 4(+15). PCTs improved sixteen points to 86. All twelve categories surveyed improved. The most-improved categories were Recognition and Involvement. These results will also be shared in your monthly department meetings and at Town Halls. I will be working with all of our department leaders to develop department-specific action plans. These plans will be shared in an upcoming department meeting. I will share our hospital-wide action plan at our next series of Town Halls. Thank you again for your participation. CHA5713 See Something, Say Something If you see a safety issue or hear from a patient or staff member about a safety issue or care concern ALWAYS escalate these concerns for timely resolution. Here is the escalation pathway when care concerns arise: 1. Always escalate to your direct supervisor (example: CNC/charge nurse or resource nurse). 2. If unable to resolve with your direct supervisor, contact your unit Manager/Director or AD if after hours. 3. The Manager/Director or AD will escalate the concern to the Administrator on-call (CNO, CEO, CMO, etc.), if unable to resolve. 4. Your patient safety team (Ashley Burriss- PSD, Michelle Marshall- PSM, and Junnius Pollard- VPQ) are happy to help as well and are best notified by placing an event in VigiLanz and/or by contacting us directly. Patient safety is a team effort and we want to help!
