Letter from Jim Brown, CEO

Thanks to each of you who took time to participate in our October engagement survey. In total,
675 of our colleagues provided feedback. This represents a 60% response rate.

Our team’s engagement index improved by one point from the May 2021 assessment to 79. This is
three points favorable to our company’s average. Of the eleven categories measured, six improved
and five remained the same. Safety, Communication, and Belonging score the highest with
Conversations remaining an opportunity.

I’d like to recognize those departments with engagement levels greater than 90. Those
departments included Retail Pharmacy, Quality, House Supervisors, Case Management, Food and
Nutrition Services, Radiation Oncology, 6th Floor, Environmental Services, and Endoscopy. I’d also
like to recognize those areas with the greatest improvement. They are Emergency Services (+24),
6th Floor (+20), Radiation Oncology (+16), Telemetry/IMCU (+13), Retail Pharmacy (+12),
Willowbrook FSED (+12), and Security (+11).

Once we’ve had an opportunity to study these results, we will develop and action plan on which we
will focus until our next survey in the spring. I will share those priorities with you. Thank you again
for taking the time to provide your feedback.

CONGRATULATIONS

We are pleased to announce that Liana Larson, HCA NC Quality Manager, has
accepted the Quality Director position at HCA HH North Cypress. Liana started her
healthcare career 11 years ago as a staff nurse at Baylor Medical Center in
Grapevine, TX. Liana’s family relocated to the Houston area which thankfully landed
her at North Cypress Medical Center in 2011 as a nurse on the 4th floor. In 2013, Liana
followed her passion in healthcare technology and took an IT role as a nurse
informaticist. When HCA acquired NCMC, Liana was excited to venture into the
quality field. She felt her passion in nursing and IT would help HCA NC advance the
quality of care and safety of our patients. Liana found a home in quality and loves
getting to help patients by implementing best practices. Liana received her
bachelor's degree in biology from The University of New Mexico. She then went on to
receive her BSN from Texas Christian University and recently graduated from WGU
with her master’s in health leadership.

Liana has been married to her husband Justin for 15 years and they share two
beautiful and smart daughters Bella (14) and Delanie (8). Liana is also mom to a
Pomeranian puppy, King Squid. Liana enjoys traveling and spending quality time with
her children and being “MOM” at all of their sporting events.

Please join me in congratulating Liana and wishing her the very best as she moves into this
exciting new role!© 2020. CONFIDENTIAL – Contains proprietary information. Not intended for external distribution.

Nick von Waaden is a current Graduate Administrative Resident
with the HCA Houston Gulf Coast Division. He received both his
Masters of Business Administration with a specialization in Healthcare
and Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Biochemistry at
Baylor University. While at Baylor, he participated in various
leadership roles on campus, research projects culminating in
publications, founded a non-profit organization aimed towards
increasing third-world healthcare access, and was a councilman of
the Academic Honor Council.

He hopes to gain valuable, direct, and tangible experience on the
administrative side of healthcare before hopefully attending
medical school in the fall of 2022. His goal is to become a physician
leader in healthcare through biotechnology advancement and
positive reformative health policy change.

Please join me in welcoming Nick to HCA North Cypress!© 2020. CONFIDENTIAL – Contains proprietary information. Not intended for external distribution.

We are pleased to announce that Jason Mccuistion, has accepted the MS4 Manager
position at HCA HH North Cypress.

Jason comes from northern California where he spent the last 15 years of his
healthcare career. He has held multiple leadership positions in his tenure from the
emergency department to the med/surg/tele units. Jason graduated from Samuel
Merritt University with his BSN and is hoping to begin his MSN over the next couple of
years. Jason is so excited to be back in the greater Houston area. His ancestry dates
back to the early 1800’s where his family once settled in Houston. His family is linked to
Cornwallis and the American Revolution, Andrew Jackson, and Davy Crockett.
Interesting fact… that his family may have provided funds for the new nation of Texas
and had ties with Austin and Houston.

Jason has been married to his wife ICU/Cath Lab RN, Victoria, for 20 years and they
share three amazing and athletically talented children. Tyler (18) is an avid baseball
player and freshman at Baylor University, Isabella (16) a skilled softball player in high
school, and Gabriella (13) enjoys playing competitive soccer and volleyball. Jason and
his family enjoy anything sports related and love being together as a family. They also
have two fur babies who are always keeping them on their toes, Trout (5) and Ripken
(1).

North Cypress employees have a history of generously providing Christmas gifts to children in the
community through Cypress Assistance Ministries (C.A.M). This year we will continue that
tradition, but in addition, we will help our own employees who may have difficulty providing
gifts for their children at Christmas.

Angel ornaments have been placed on the Christmas tree in the Main Hospital Lobby. These
ornaments will have the age and gender of the child and some ideas of what they are wishing
for. There will be a table with a list of children needing gifts near the tree. Please write your
name and ¾ ID next to the child you would like to provide a gift for and take that child’s
ornament off the tree. Please hold on to the ornament you chose and attach it to your gift when
dropped off.

If you need assistance with Christmas gifts for your children, please complete an application from
HR or from your Director and submit to Elise in Human Resources. HCA North Cypress employee
applications must be submitted to HR by Friday, November 12th and gifts must be picked up by
the same employee on Friday, December 17th. Employees seeking assistance will be kept

Donorsconfidential.

Red angel gifts (HCA Employees) submitted to HR by December 7th.

Green angel gifts (C.A.M.) submitted to HR by December 7th.

We ask that all gift donations are left unwrapped. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

CONNECT TO PURPOSE – IN THE NEWS

With three years passing since their purchase of the building, HCA Houston Healthcare is in the process of rehauling and renovating their North Cypress location to account for the
rise in population and therefore, a rise in need for medical care. HCA is partially complete with renovations totaling $16 million in the North Cypress facility. CEO Jim Brown said
HCA North Cypress has completed a build for a new endoscopy lab and a third interventional lab for cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. New cardiac imaging and telemetry
equipment will be arriving in January 2022, as well as an expansion to the emergency department by next fall.

Brown said HCA North Cypress is renovating the location due to the growth of the community and needs for additional imaging, updated equipment and more space for the 15-
year-old building. “HCA bought this hospital in 2018 from a group of local physicians who had built and operated the hospital for years,” he said. “Since 2018 these projects bring a
3-year investment of about $16 million.” The bed expansion coming to the emergency department is currently under construction. “For one of our projects we are expanding our
emergency department from 19 beds to 24 beds, which should allow us to accommodate between 50,000 and 60,000 emergency visits annually, which is where we believe we need
to be over the course of the next five years,” Brown said. “That is certainly a project to help grow the hospital. We’re really seeing huge growth in northwest Houston and it’s
imperative that we grow to meet the needs of the region.” The new endoscopy lab was an expansion and relocation of the previous lab, expanding the labs from two to three in a $4
million project, while also creating distinct pre- and post-procedure areas. An electroretinogram, or ERG, interventional lab was created for the cardiology and cardiovascular surgery
programs worth $2.4 million, and included refreshing the equipment in the lab as well. “We have added a cardiac CT (scanner) which is technology for our hospital and we are
replacing our MRIs,” Brown said. “We are investing $3.8 million in our imaging department. Going back to the hospital being 15 years old ... We have changed out that cardiac
monitoring system for $2.2 million.”

On top of the current hospital emergency department expansion, an expansion for the public seating areas is planned to begin this fall and end fall 2022. In addition to the $16 19
million projects, a $24 million project is planned for the newly added third medical office on campus. “We just added a third medical office building on our campus,” Brown said.
“That was developed by a number of our physicians. We do not own the building, we lease the land on which our physicians build the building. But, they did develop a nice, new
110,000-square-foot, four story medical office building on campus.” Brown said the project, which includes an ambulatory surgery center, will open in June 2022. “We are excited,”
he said. “We have a good deal of construction going on, on and within the campus.”

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The first American League
Championship Series game was played in Houston Friday
since 2019 after last year's American League Championship
Series was played at an empty ballpark in San Diego.

Minute Maid Park was packed thanks to the frontline heroes

helping the city turn the corner on COVID-19. One reason
Julie Hoff loves the Astros is she said she recognizes a great
team when she sees one. "You see their smiles. You see the
love for the game," Hoff said "They love baseball.

“Julie is on a phenomenal team herself. As the director of
critical care for HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress, she's
been on the frontlines fighting COVID in the ICU since early
2020. But, she told ABC13 it's never been worse than these
last few months. "When you lose patients, it's very hard,"
Hoff said while fighting back tears. "This time, in this wave,
they've been younger, and that's been the hardest part.“

Hoff, who grew up in Waller, fell in love with the Astros
through her father's passion for the team. She's now a
diehard fan herself. "That's my outlet," she said. "They have
gotten me through a lot of sadness. They've probably
brought a lot of nurses through a lot of sadness.“

She was in attendance for game one of the ALCS. It's her first 20
postseason game since before the pandemic, and she said
this team reminds her of her own team, which is also still

fighting.
"They're a family just like the ICU family," Hoff said. "They
love to take care of patients. That's all we want to do, all we
need to do. Day by day, smile by smile."
