Letter from Jim Brown, CEO 3 . North Cypress Family: I have long been a proponent that quality and service drive growth. To promote quality, sometimes we have to invest in clinical infrastructure. I am happy to share that in recent months and in the months to come that we have made and will make several changes that I am confident will advance our quality agenda. Maggie recently added a Director of Nursing Operations, Jason McCuistion, to her nursing executive team. We have begun to consistently staff Observations on weekdays and have a clear patient selection criteria as to who can stay on this unit. We are expanding our ICU beds from 20 to 24 to better serve our high-acuity patients. We are equipping one wing of the 2nd floor to house IMU patients which will also expand our intermediate care needs. These two changes should allow us to drastically reduce critical care holds in our Emergency department. Until we expand the hospital, it’s inevitable that we will have patients holding in our ED. With that however, we want those patients who are holding to be our least acute rather than critical care patients. We are also working to add a critical care educator and a rapid response team. With regard to our physicians, we plan to expand our daytime Intensivist coverage to effectively cover our 24 ICU beds. I believe these are all positive changes and prudent investments. With them, we will be able to better serve our patients and hence continue our growth as our community and medical staff will have greater confidence in us.

Alex Brock Chief Operating Officer HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress Family, This is a bitter sweet note to let you all know that Martin Tuck, Director of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), will be leaving us after 10+ years of wonderful work here at North Cypress. Though we are sad to see Martin go, we are happy for him, as he pursues new opportunities outside of HCA. Martin has been an integral part of North Cypress, and we will all miss his servant leadership, his strong work ethic, and most of all, his friendship. Join us in congratulating Martin on his new journey! His last day at North Cypress will be this Friday, February 3rd. We are actively searching for his replacement; however, if you have any questions or needs, please reach out to Arlene Riojas, Joletha Stewart, or me in the meantime. Jim Brown Chief Executive Officer HCA North Cypress Family, On Friday, January 27, we bid farewell to Allison Horvitz, Director of Business Development. Allison was an integral part of our team for the past four years, first serving as a physician liaison as part of our PPR team and then in an expanded business development role. She built great relationships with our medical staff, especially our community-based primary care physicians and GIs. She has been a great partner in growing our hospital. I am presently searching for a replacement of both Allison and Catherine Kelsey on either our PPR or business development teams.

PEOPLE 20 STELLAR SHOUT-OUTS TO THESE EMPLOYEES! HCA North Cypress Team Members! #carelikefamily #raisethebar My daughter had an ultrasound at the professional building a few weeks ago. She was very nervous, but the ultrasound tech, Juan Sanchez, was fantastic with her. He immediately made her feel at ease & joked around with her too. She had to fast before her first scan. But when she was finished with the first scan, Mr. Juan got her juice & even brought cookies to us from the staff room. Juan went above and beyond for us & we’re truly thankful! Dear HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division Colleagues and Medical Staff: Part of HCA’s commitment to improving care includes the assurance of a safe physical environment. As of Monday, February 6, 2023, HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress will be moving to plain language for employee and patient safety. It’s critical that those involved with an incident understand and use common terminology, policies and procedures. In the event of a hospital emergency, plain language emergency communications facilitate interoperability, coordination, timely action, and increased safety across all disciplines. The Joint Commission recommended use of plain language, and nationally, there has been trend toward adoption versus color codes since 2012. HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division firmly believes that transitioning to plain language emergency communication will: Increase staff, patient and public safety within hospitals, health systems and their campuses. Promote transparency of safety protocols and responses. Promote a set of emergency responses based on best practice. Increase safety, awareness, and knowledge of hospital staff working in multiple facilities. This transition remains at the center of our mission, values, and commitment to the care of human life. Plain Language Announcement
