Good morning, my name is -NAMEand Today I’ll teach you about marine navigation Does any of you know about about the history of marine navigation? Hmm.. Umm.. No, sir. Now that we have GPS technology, this method is mostly not in use anymore. Old sailors would use a tool called a sextant.. To calculate the angle between a celestial body and the horizon. Then they use trigonometry to find their distance relative to other places.

ATTENTION! By using the hypotenuse and the angle, they will be able to find the depth and distance of the... Hmm.. GO!! I just got a report that one of the submarine had a problem and has sunk to the sea floor But GPS doesn’t work underwater so submarines would take their location on the surface.. Then they will use sonar and trigonometry to navigate underwater.

Tan x is equals to 500m divided by 750m. So, the divers should swim at an angle of 33.69 degree below the sea surface to get to the submarine. 750 m 5 0 0 m The sonobuoy has located the sunken submarine 750m away at the depth of 500 m. Sonobuoy is dropped Sonobuoy locating the sub Congratulations on passing your test! I hope this lessons will help you to overcome future problems.
