10 A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER March 2024 March has arrived and with it spring and many new updates to LHPYC! Club Updates: Little Skippers Drop-off Service We've learned that many of our Club's Little Skippers are eager to enjoy our youth programming further. This month we are announcing a drop-off service for our nightly Little Skippers program. Members and their guests can drop off their children ages three to twelve (potty training required) between Wednesday and Saturday from 6 PM until 9:30 PM and will not be required to stay on the property. However, please note that if your child is bringing a friend with them, it is required that the child’s parent is present for the drop off as they and our members will be required to sign a waiver. If you choose to take advantage of this service, your child can enjoy dinner and engage in activities for a cost of $40 per member child and $60 per member guest child. We kindly request that you remain in the vicinity of Lighthouse Point during this time, accessible in case of emergencies or if your child wishes to be picked up. Please note, there will be a $1 per minute late fee for any child picked up later than 9:30PM. If your child attends Little Skippers and you choose to stay on the property, standard rates will apply. Dinner is included in the pricing for Thursday through Saturday, with member rates at $20 and Member Guest rates at $40 per child. Wednesdays remain complimentary but do not include dinner. Miss Katie and her team look forward to creating more experiences for our Little Skippers with these updates to the program. Cruise & Go Menu Gina, our Director of Special Events, and Executive Chef Stephanie, introduced our latest offering – the Cruise & Go Menu. Tailored to cater to our boaters and members seeking catering for smaller gatherings, this menu showcases an array of platter options. You can access the menu online through your member portal or at Shipwrecked. Please make the most of this service by reaching out for additional details or placing an order. Contact Gina at [email protected] Boat Christenings/ Renaming The LHPYC Cruise Group and the Club are delighted to offer our Members who have acquired a new or already-named boat the opportunity for a complimentary boat christening or re-naming ceremony. Our very own Amy Nenner, a Club and Cruise Group Member, is spearheading this timeless nautical tradition. This ceremony holds significant importance for every boater, serving as a ritual that ensures safe cruising and seeks favor from the sea gods. The complimentary event is customizable to a date of your choosing and comes with complimentary champagne and hors d'oeuvres for attendees. Feel free to invite your preferred guests, and we'll also extend the invitation to our LHPYC Cruise Group, ensuring your fellow LHPYC boaters join in the celebration! Start the planning process today by reaching out to Gina at [email protected]. It's a wonderful opportunity to infuse tradition and camaraderie into your boating experience. Travel: Ski Trip Recap The LHPYC Ski Week proved to be an incredible experience against the backdrop of Heavenly Mountain’s excellent snow conditions and activities throughout the week. Thank you to the LHPYC families who joined us this year and for contributing to our lasting memories. Look at some of the great photos on pages 14 and 15. We are excited to share the details for the 2025 Ski Week this summer. We look forward to (Continued on Page 11)

11 A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER (Continued from Page 10) Terry Paterson Owner & Interim General Manager welcoming even more Members to our winter tradition. Key West Our Cruise Group Committee and staff have organized our inaugural Key West trip in May, and we're thrilled to embark on this adventure with our Club Members. We invite all members to participate by booking accommodations and slips. The weekend includes a Happy Hour with beer, wine, Key West Punch, and hors d'oeuvres. Friday features a group dinner with a live dueling piano show, followed by a grab-and-go breakfast on Saturday for your full day on Duval Street. Wrapping up the weekend is a group breakfast from 8 AM to 10 AM, accompanied by daily children's activities led by Miss Katie throughout the weekend. Explore the detailed itinerary and booking information on pages 19-21 of the newsletter. Additionally, the Cruise Group Committee has outlined details for the Optional Extension, with an early departure for Cruise Group Members on Wednesday, May 1st. Book an overnight stop at your preferred marina, and three marinas have been contacted on your behalf for rate information. Sunday, May 5th, and Monday, May 6th, we'll journey from Stock Island to the Dry Tortugas for a two-night anchor stay exploring Fort Jefferson. On Tuesday, May 7th, we'll return to Stock Island, and the following morning marks the start of our journey back home. Alternatively, you can book a slip at a preferred marina for Wednesday, May 8th, to cover part of the return journey. Weekend Pricing We encourage our participating Members to prioritize what works best for them during these trips. Our weekend structure allows Members to engage in group activities while also having free time for personal preferences. Acknowledging feedback on weekend pricing, we want to explain the reason behind it. Over the years, we've expanded our Cruise Group and Club-wide travel, leading us to enhance the trip experience. The Cruise Group Committee has diligently secured sponsorship funds and devised a system to bring in staff, provide better entertainment, and offer more to our Members. Negotiating discounted rooms with resorts often involves meeting food and beverage minimums, which we achieve through organized activities. Your weekend fee and Cruise Group-sponsored funds directly contribute to these costs, ensuring we can create vibrant, enjoyable weekends for you and your family. These fees are necessary when booking through our Club discounts or participating in Club outings, as they play a crucial role in bringing our community together through fun, sun, and exciting activities. Development Update: I encourage all our Members to attend the upcoming State of the Club address for the latest positive developments in our project. I will be present to answer questions and share essential information about our project. Our Communications Director, Julia, will distribute an informational sheet covering the details we'll be discussing after the event. The State of the Club address is scheduled for Friday, March 22nd, at 6:30 PM on the Flag Deck. To ensure we have enough seats prepared, we kindly ask Members to make reservations. RSVP by emailing [email protected], and remember to stay for dinner.

We are so thrilled to become part of the vibrant community here in Lighthouse Point! Having tied the knot at the end of last year, we recently settled into our new residence just down the street from the yacht club. Camila is a licensed therapist specializing in analytical psychology, who operates a private practice in Brazil and is in the process of relaunching her services in the United States. Alex is the founder of a boutique headhunting firm that collaborates with companies on their executive-level recruitment initiatives. When not focused on our professional endeavors, we can often be found refining our tennis skills at the yacht club, exploring the captivating offshore reefs in the area, experimenting with culinary delights, or traveling to new places. In addition to her psychology practice, Camila is a successful Axé singer who has performed for audiences across Brazil and around the world. She performs every year for over 1 million people during Salvador's Carnival festival. Camila is excited to keep singing and performing here in Florida, but on a more intimate level! Our life together, originating from opposite ends of the globe, has been instilled with a profound love for travel. It all started right here in Florida during one of Camila's family vacations. Our second date took us on a spontaneous trip to Lisbon, Portugal, to experience Camila's performance at the Rock in Rio Lisboa festival. From that moment on, we’ve journeyed across Europe, South America, and the United States. Though we have cherished our time living in Brazil over the past 18 months, we are now eagerly looking forward to putting down roots in Lighthouse Point. We’re excited about starting a family, expanding our businesses, creating new memories, and becoming more ingrained in this wonderful community. 23 Julia Robinson Membership & Communications Director The official month of good luck has arrived! This month, we are fortunate to welcome seven new couples to our Lighthouse Point Yacht Club family. When you encounter our newest additions to the club, be sure to welcome them with open arms, share laughs at the bar, or offer friendly hellos in passing. You can find more information about our newest Junior Members, Camila De San Galo Nunes, and Alexander Brehier, on page 22! Our monthly complimentary mingle this month will feature a live Chef demo by our Executive Chef Stephanie. I don't know about you, but I am definitely excited to watch, learn, and taste how she prepares blackened scallops and pineapple salsa. The demo will take place on Friday, March 15th, from 6 PM to 7 PM, and you can RSVP by emailing me at [email protected]. Luck can be lifesaving, especially if you witness someone in peril and someone in the room knows how to save them. This month, we have organized CPR and AED training for our members on Tuesday, March 19th. You never know when you might be the luck that someone needs on a bad day. The certification class will be held on the pool deck from 6 PM to 8:30 PM, and you can sign up to learn how to MEMBERSHIP save a life by emailing Diane at [email protected]. The class is also for those who want to renew their certifications, and these life-saving skills can be yours for only $85! Imagine that – not only will you be equipped to save a life, but you also have the potential to be someone's hero! It's time to get out of your calendars and save the date for Thursday, April 25th, because we are not only hosting a special themed Thursday – Africa Night but also announcing our next big exotic LHPYC travel destination! I won't spoil any details, but you can be sure that it will be the trip of a lifetime! Have a wonderful month, and as always, I am here to assist you in any way I can! 24 chef’s CORNER It's already March, and exciting things are happening at Shipwrecked. The weather is absolutely remarkable this time of year, and we have some fantastic events scheduled for the month. So don’t miss out and make sure to be there! Do you have a little chef on hand? This month, we will have an exciting kids' day on March 3rd, and the kids will get to make their own pizzas. Katie and I will be on hand with pointers and tips for our little chefs! March is here, and my favorite holiday, St. Patty’s Day, is finally here! One of the very first things I learned to cook was corned beef and pastrami. So, this year, we're having some chef-made corned beef and, of course, some amazing drink specials from Geidys! Our monthly Tennis Ladies Luncheon has been a great success! If you enjoy tennis, cocktails, good food, and friends, come on out and get together with these good-spirited ladies and Jim, our amazing Tennis Director! This time of year also brings us some personal goals and sacrifices. It’s Lent, and we are all about Fish Friday here at Shipwrecked! Every Friday, we will have a seafood special during the Lent season. Check-in and dine with us; we are always happy to accommodate any of our members' dietary needs at any time. Don’t forget to join us for our special Good Friday seafood buffet – more details are available on page 8. Last but never least, it’s Easter! Even though we are outside, we will still be offering a nice Easter buffet while chilling by the pool on the Saturday before Easter. We will have the slide out for the kids and plenty of delicious refreshments and food! So much better than dressing up, and you’ll get to celebrate Easter twice since the slide will also be up for Easter Sunday. Hope to see everyone out and about around the pool! FOOD & BEVERAGE Greetings to everyone! I hope this message finds you in good spirits and still full of love as we enter the third month of the year, celebrating the beginning of spring and gearing up for St. Patrick's Day—a day synonymous with Irish culture. In anticipation of the festivities, I've curated two delicious and organic drinks. Rest assured; all our beverages are freshly made with care. The first introduction is the Sour Apple Margarita, a delightful concoction featuring a variety of different flavors. The second is the exclusive St. Patrick's Martini, available only on St. Patrick's Day. Exciting news awaits you as well! we have announced that happy hour will now be ALL DAY EVERY SUNDAY from 11:30AM until 7PM! What a way to put the FUN into Sunday Funday! In addition, we've revamped our wine menu, introducing the Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon and a new white wine, Simi Chardonnay. SIMI wine with bright and sunny fruit aromas, plus apple and pear flavors enhanced by peach and tropical fruit notes. Crisp white wine with bright acidity, gentle oak spice, and a creamy mouthfeel. A California Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonanza is produced by Chuck Wagner, owner and winemaker of Caymus Vineyards. It reflects the “bonanza” of the great state of California – the discovery of land where delicious Cabernet can be farmed. Calling back to a time when good wine with dinner was a simple pleasure, Bonanza features flavors of dark berries, vanilla and toasty bread with silky tannins. My team and I are here for you from Wednesday to Sunday. Don't miss our regular Happy Hour every Wednesday through Friday from 4-6 pm and Ladies Night on Saturday from 4 till close. We extend a warm welcome to all to savor our delightful drinks. Thank you for your continued support, and please stay safe! Geidys Santrich F&B Manager

25 of LHPYC Daniel J. O’Keefe • Fine Art 516-383-4000 • danieljokeefe.com The Art Gallery of Lighthouse Point Yacht Club is featuring artist Ed Clarkfor the 2024 Marchissue of The Point magazine.Clark, born on December 6, 1926, grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was an American abstract expressionist painter known for his innovative and dynamic use of color and form in his artwork. He became a prominent figure in the art world by the mid-20th century. Clark's work often featured bold, sweeping brushstrokes and vibrant colors, and he was considered a pioneer in the field of abstract art. He passed away in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking artistic achievements. In addition to his abstract art, artist Ed Clark was also known for his innovative use of the "push broom" technique. He had a major breakthrough in 1956, while living in France, when he swapped his paintbrush for a broom. This technique involved applying paint to the canvas using a large push broom rather than a traditional paintbrush, resulting in energetic and dynamic brushstrokes. Clark's unique approach to painting helped him stand out in the art world and contributed to his distinctive style. From then till his death at ninety-three, he placed this technique in the service of a singular mission: that of dilating the moment when the plural strokes began to cohere as a single painting. In his last paintings, Clark’s strokes even became larger relative to the size of his canvases. Clark seemed to test how few enlarged isolated marks he could get away with. That is what he meant by an experimental result, always remaining open to change. Clark often said the real truth is in the stroke. Ed Clark's art has been shown in many prestigious galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. His work has also been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout his career. Please get in touch with Daniel J. O’Keefe at 516-383-4000 or email me at [email protected] for questions about the artists.

Stay vigilant and keep an eye out for any obstacles that could pose a hazard to your vessel. Be Aware of Manatees: Our waterways are home to beautiful marine life, including manatees. Always be on the lookout for these gentle creatures and give them plenty of space to roam freely. Safety Notices: Recently, there have been reports of an alligator sighting in the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) near the club. While authorities are working on the situation, let's remain cautious and mindful of our surroundings when out on the water. Insurance and Fueling Reminders: Please ensure that the club has the proper insurance on file for any vendors working on the property. The Lighthouse Point Yacht Club must be listed as an additional certificate holder on all insurance documentation. You can drop off certificates of insurance (COI) at the marina office or email them directly to me [email protected].
