4A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNERHappy New Year, LHPYC — and it’s shaping up to be a strong one.2026 will be a year defined by progress, momentum, andforward movement at Lighthouse Point Yacht Club. From the start of construction to new travel opportunitiesand fresh event concepts, change, evolution, and growthare the driving themes ahead. Behind the scenes, our team is working diligently to complete the interiorasbestos remediation of the existing clubhouse and prepare for the next major milestone: demolition and the launch of the next phase of our redevelopment. With this progress — and the exciting future ahead — we will be increasing the initiation fee for new members to$18,000 beginning February 2026. This adjustmentsupports the early stages of construction and positions the Club for its next chapter. Now is the ideal time toencourage friends, neighbors, and adult children to join, as the next planned increase will bring the initiation fee to$25,000. Members who join now will also begrandfathered into lower dues for the lifetime of their membership compared to those who wait — a meaningful benefit and a reward for believing in andsupporting your Club early on. Julia, your membershipdirector, is always happy to answer any questions. We are also introducing an exciting update to our Pot ofGold program. Beginning in January, the Pot of Gold will now start at $500 instead of $100 and will continue togrow by $100 each week if the selected member is not present. Additionally, the weekly drawing time will move from 8:00 PM to 7:00 PM every Saturday. Memberscan now further increase their chances to win by dining atthe Club — each visit earns one additional entry. Dine 14 times in January, and you receive 14 extra entries. The more you dine, the more chances you have to take homethe prize. Check out the new Pot of Gold rules on page 19 of the newsletter. Our social season is officially in full swing, beginning inJanuary with a Youth Committee classic on Sunday, January 24th—Feast with the Beast, a beloved tradition for our Little Skippers. Thanks to sponsorship from our Yacht Shop, this year’s event features an upgradedanimal show, along with a face painter and balloon artist.Looking ahead, our Social Committee will host a Food & Wine Tasting on Saturday, February 21st, showcasingChef Stephanie’s hand-selected bites—an ideal opportunity to experience the Club’s culinary offerings firsthand. Be sure to check out all upcoming events onpages 10 and 11.We are also proud to announce a new youth initiativeled by Youth Committee Chair Krista Bundy, with the support of the LHPYC Board: the launch of theLHPYC Ambassadors. This youth-led committee will engage members ages 10–17 in philanthropy and leadership, focusing on initiatives such as charity drives, volunteer days, and other communityoutreach projects. Committee positions will be filledby your teens. We will also be signing off on service hours for the kids who participate on the committeeor in the events. The LHPYC office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00AM to 5:00 PM for mail pickup. The door code is nolonger active, and all management staff now use key access. Our team is available during office hours toassist with any mail needs. Finally, we say farewell to our Director ofMaintenance, JP, who is retiring after 10 years ofdedicated service to the Club. JP’s expertise, commitment, and pride in his work have left a lasting mark on LHPYC, and he has been an invaluable partof our team. We thank him sincerely and wish him all the best in retirement. Stepping into leadership roles are Joe Gratton as Director of Facilities and Derrick Watler as Facilities Manager. We look forward to seeing many of you in Vail for our 4th Annual LHPYC Ski Week. 17fifffflffiflfffflfflffl fifiFrom Assistant General Manager Diane Elliott “I’ve known JP since 2018, and in that time, we’ve been through more ups and downs than I can count. From the very beginning, JP became more than just a colleague to me—he became what I’ve always jokingly called my “work husband.” But in all seriousness, he has been someone I could always count on.JP has a rare kind of dedication. He wasn’t just there for the club—he was there for the people. He showed up consistently, paid attention to every detail, and took pride in everything he touched. Whether it was making sure the walls looked right, the parking lot was in order, the lightbulbs were replaced, or that every single blade of grass was perfectly trimmed, JP cared. And that care showed. What made JP truly special, though, was that his commitment went far beyond the job description. He was there for me personally, always willing to listen, support, and help however he could. That kind of loyalty and steadiness is rare, and it never went unnoticed. When JP underwent surgery, there was never a question about showing up for him and his wife. Because when someone gives so much of themselves—to their work and to the people around them—you want to be there for them in return. That’s the kind of impact JP has had on all of us.JP, your presence, your consistency, and your heart have left a lasting mark on this club and on the people who had the privilege of working alongside you. While we’re sad to see you retire, we are incredibly grateful for everything you’ve given and excited for this next chapter of your life.Thank you for your years of dedication, your friendship, and the legacy you leave behind. You will truly be missed—but never forgotten.”
