This month the Art Gallery at Light House Point Yacht Club is featuring one of LHPYC’s prominent artists, Mark Van
Wagner. Mark is known for his love of the ocean and his deep commitment to a clean and healthy environment. Van
Wagner has been incorporating the use of beach sand in his artworks for years. Mark studied and showed
professionally in Chicago before moving to Hawaii where he continued painting. Van Wagner paints highly nuanced
compositions redolent in its colors and textures and even linear events of the seas’ subtle but persistent shifting. Wan
Wagner’s dept not just to earlier granular modernists but also Monet is eminently apparent.

Mark Van Wagner studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, had
numerous selected solo and group gallery exhibitions worldwide. Van Wagner has
numerous media and publications attributed to his name. He lives and paints in
Bellport New York and is the owner and chief curator of the Marquee Projects

CORNER

Personally I would like to extend my best wishes to all. I hope everyone is safe at home and enjoying each other in this
worldwide crisis. I would also like to thank the generosity of our Lighthouse Point Yacht Club members that have
supported the GoFundMe page which was instrumental in supplying food to our team members in this time of need.
Other members have supplied our staff with so many amazing things including N95 face masks and SA full face
coverings to Wendy’s meal vouchers and servicing the clubhouse with chemical sanitizer. We as a team and family will
all get through this together and be stronger and closer because of it.

As always, we practice proper sanitation guidelines set by the health department including washing hands constantly,
sanitizing work areas, changing gloves between tasks and sending sick staff home. In the days following the
stay-at-home order, we only operate with a core staff. We check their temperatures daily and ask the important
questions:

1. Have you or anybody in your household travelled by plane or been in close proximity with anybody who has
traveled by plane in the last 7 days?

2. Have you or anybody in your household been in the presence of anybody who has since been found to have
Coronavirus in the last 14 days?

3. Have you or anybody in your household not followed the strict social distancing policies laid out by the CDC in the
last 7 days?

If they answer yes to any of the questions, staff will be sent home for a seven day quarantine. We let no outside
individuals into the kitchen. All vendors must have gloves and masks on before entering the kitchen. When orders are
received, product is taken out of boxes and boxes properly disposed of. We are going above and beyond keeping our
staff and members safe and continue to do so as this will be a new way of life.

We continue to improve and expand on our family-style takeout service. We are planning regional menus that will run
all week and have a mix of favorite items thrown in to be offered all week long. Please check social media and emails
for offerings.

During this downtime I have started working on new menu items to replace some of the less popular dishes. Adding
some chops and different seafood as well as creating a much more kid-friendly menu. We will be making all of your
favorites again soon.

I miss you all. Our staff misses you all... Stay safe and distant.

IN OUR COMMUNITY

Well… What to say about April? It was one of the oddest months we have ever seen as a World, as a Nation,
and as a Community. Although it has been a scary and uncertain time full of many cancelations and much
loss, it has also shown us beautiful acts of kindness and bonding among families and strangers alike.

Here are some easy & meaningful LOCAL ways to help:

UNITED WAY OF BROWARD COUNTY:

While the United Way of Broward County is ALWAYS doing good in many different areas, right now they have a targeted
“Covid-19 Campaign”. They are concentrating on 2 key areas:

1. Food Assistance
•Delivery of meals to eligible shut-in elderly
•Supplementing Public Schools to feed local students by launching walk-up / drive-thru distribution sites

2. Emergency Financial Assistance
•Utility / Rental / Mortgage / Supplies to households with emergency needs
•100% of donations are used to support those affected by coronavirus

Sign up to get notified of urgent needs in real time: unitedwaybroward.org/volunteer

HOSPITAL / SHELTER / MEDICAL CENTER FOOD DELIVERIES:

April showed us that the real heroes among us during a health crisis are Nurses, Doctors, Therapists,
and other Medical Professionals caring for those who need help.

In an effort to help how we can, LHPYC donated & delivered 70 lunches on April 17th to homeless
teens at the Covenant House of Florida, 30 meals on April 21st to the incredible angels who work at
Broward Children’s Center caring for infants and kids who are dependent on life saving technology
24/7, and another 50 lunches to Broward Health North Hospital healthcare workers on April 28th.

*If you would like to fund a meal delivery, our club is happy to organize and deliver more meals to any
local hospital, medical center, or shelter of your choosing. We can do something nice for roughly $7 per
lunch or $10 per dinner. We will do this at cost. No profits will be made on these efforts.

LETTERS TO VETERANS

exactly what a quarantined elderly Veteran needs to brighten their
day. Make it a “homeschool” project for your kids to show their

FISHING COMMITTEE

As I am writing this article for the newsletter we are deep into
our fight against Covid 19. Social distancing, recently the wearing
of masks in public and a complete void of social gatherings have
become so common in our everyday lives. I for one am tired of
the inside of my house and so thankful that we live in an
environment and a community where we can get out on our
boats and enjoy the water and more specifically fishing. I hope
you enjoy the pictures and I believe they speak for themselves!

Stay safe, stay healthy and I hope all this will be behind us in the
very near future! I know we all miss our routines!

Come on by and hang off platform to say hi if you are in the area.
Many have already done so.
