Prof. Ts. Dr. Norzila Binti OthmanDirector of Innovation andCommercialization CentreUniversiti Tun Hussein Onn MalaysiaOne of the key ways thatpublicly funded research canhave a productive impact to thesociety is through theirtranslation of technology intouseable products, processes andservices. Successful innovation isnot about the ideas orinventions; it is about the people.Innovation is the ability to seechange as an opportunity andnot a threat. As noted by EdwardDeming,“Innovation comes fromthe producer – not from thecustomer”. Hence, at UTHM theinnovation culture is primarilycentered around thedevelopment of our people whoare entrusted with theopportunity for innovation. The university seeks to providethis opportunity throughconcerted efforts, such as thesetting up of incubators, collaborative networks and aknowledge sharing culture that isunderlined by a respect forintellectual property. At UTHM,colloquiums are quicklybecoming a regular featurewithin the calendar of eachfaculty and centre. ICC handlesthe task of precommercialisation, this involves upscaling and theutilisation of the concept ofincubators. The different modesof commercialisation that arecurrently available tocommercialise UTHM productsare through Licensing OutrightSale, Sales Agreement and DirectSales.INNOVATION ANDCOMMERCIALISATIONCENTREInnovation and Commercialization CentreUniversity Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia07 - 456 4817 | 4815 | 4816 | 4946 | [email protected]

The invention involves a device which accelerates the defect detection of abuilding or infrastructure which is crucial to enable early for the defect to beattended to ensure the safety of the tenants or users of the building orinfrastructure. The device uses the seismic surface wave technique.Mechanical vibrators are employed to produce seismic waves. The signals, which are controlled by a signal amplifier, produced from the vibrators arethen applied to a test structure. This is done by putting in contact tworeceivers seismically with the exposed surface of the test structure. Thereceivers then produce electrical signals in response to the seismic waveswhich travels through the test structure. The data derived is collected by twosensors and recorded by using a data acquisition system. The two receiversare placed along a straight line and detects the transient signal produced bythe vertical impact source. The data collected is processed at the end of thedata collecting process. The data is processed by applying the Fast FrontierTransform or FFT method. The data acquisition system above is connected toa computer to enable the implementation of the testing system arrangement. An analogue output module will generate the transmitted waveforms. Thereceiver sensor system consists of two piezoelectric accelerometers which areconnected via a cable to an analogue signal conditioner. The signals are thensampled by an analogue-to-digital converter module.Product Description:A STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING DEVICEPI2014003160PROF. Ts. When controlled the dielectricmedium of electrical discharge machining it helps to improve the variousmachining parameters like increased MRR, reduced surface roughness, reduced tool wear rate and improved topological properties like reductionin microholes, micropores thin recast layer and improved corrosionresistance of the machined suface. therefore PMEDM have attracted theattention of many researchers since last few decades. A new PMEDMsystem was designed with 30 liters dielectric fluid tank suitable for powdermix experimentation. A self-made cycling system was mounted on theEDM machine with different types of powder suspension and withdifferent size of powder particles. Therefore, there is a keen interest toopen up the potential of new PMEDM system by combination of additives(Powder mixed and surfactant) with both EDM parameters and machiningconditions, it is highly expected that can enhance the material removalrate and machining efficiency.A METHOD AND AN APPARATUS FOR CIRCULATING DIELECTRIC OF POWDER MIXEDELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING (PMEDM) OF DIFFICULT-TO-CUT MATERIALSPI2017300012PROF. A second metallic ground plane is the placed in between the firstdielectric substrate and a second dielectric substrate . Then a third metallic patch isunderneath the second dielectric substrate as shown in Figure 3. The inventionapplies a slot technique to control the transmission phase of the flat lens antenna forX-band applications. This band ranges from 8-12 GHz. The arrangement of theelement on the substrates introduces a simple and tunable embedded slots whichenables adjustments to be made to attain the desired radiation phase. The lensemployed are light weight, low profile and cost effective and realized using back toback E shaped patch arrays with the slotted common ground plane coupling. Thisenables the antenna to collect and radiate energy from the feed antenna whichilluminates one side of the lens array. 43Product Description:Product Description:ELECTRONICA system for controlling the motion of a mobility equipment comprising asensing means attached onto a user's skin for detecting their brainwavesand facial movements, a brain signal processing unit for generating brainsignals from the detected brainwaves, a processor comprising a firstmodule and a second module in communication with the mobilityequipment configured to compare the brain signals according to apredetermined threshold signal value; wherein the brain signals comparedby the processor initiates one or more operating commands to performmovement of the mobility equipment.ASSOC. PROF. Dr. AFISHAH BINTIALIASFaculty of Applied Science [email protected] SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING A MOBILITY EQUIPMENT USINGBRAINWAVESPI2019006643PROCESSINGThe present invention discloses an apparatus and system for the ultrasonicvibration assisted milling. The main objective of the invention is togenerate a gap between the tool and workpiece periodically. Thecompliance mechanism comprises a motion stage, a plurality ofintermediate stages arranged in a manner such that the intermediatestages radially surround the motion stage, each of the intermediate stageis linked to the motion stage via a bridge connector and a plurality ofactuators each housed within one intermediate stage; characterised in thateach intermediate stage has an inner surface profile which can beconfigured to hold their respective actuator in a manner such that theactuator can have an optimized surface contact with the intermediatestage to deliver displacement to the motion.Product Description:A system to monitor the air quality of indoor environments, wherein amotorized platform capable of controlled automatic motion transport asensor or plurality of sensor operable to measure air pollution level. Amicrocontroller also mounted on the said platform receives signals fromsaid sensor for processing and then transmit this data preferably via awireless transceiver to a computer which performs further analysis anddisplay analyzed data on a graphical user interface. Said controller may beelectrically connected to the power and maneuvering mechanism of saidplatform in order to control the motion of the said platform. An alarmsystem is triggered by the computer when the measured air pollutantlevels exceed a specified threshold value.AIR QUALITY MONITORING SYSTEMPI 20083858/MY-185743-APROF.
