Unmistakeable design: the new BMW X2
With its sporty, urban feel, the BMW X2 breaks new ground for BMW as a unique and exciting addition to the BMW X model range.
The car’s chassis and xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system delivers the ideal balance between sporting dynamics and e ciency. The digital services from BMW ConnectedDrive and BMW ConnectedDrive Services – both of which are now available in freshly updated form – add further depth to the overall BMW X2 experience.
Even next to its bigger brothers, the BMW X4 and X6, the BMW X2 makes a distinctive impression. The car’s exterior design combines the low-slung proportions of a coupé with the robust core of a BMW X model.
The BMW X2 is two centimetres shorter and more than seven centimetres lower than the BMW X1, yet has the same wheelbase. Featuring short overhangs, it also has a stretched, coupé-style roo ine and slim window graphic.
4 Small Business Fleet Management
The kidney grille has always been an identifying feature of a BMW. On the X2, however, its outline is wider at its base than at its top. The X2 is the rst modern BMW to feature this design cue, and it gives the new car a broader, more distinctive and sportier appearance. Below the grille, the hexagonal surface treatment in the bumper further reinforces this impression. The high-gloss black grille provides sharp contrast with its chrome surround.
Full-LED headlights as standard on Sport, M Sport
and M Sport X models. The bi-LED light for low beam and high beam is highly e ective at illuminating the road, while also accentuating the BMW X2’s sporty character. The headlights display precise detailing, achieved in part through 3D Icon LED daytime driving light and laser engraving.
The M Sport and M Sport
X models are available with wheels in sizes up to 20-inch, a standout feature in this segment.
As standard, both models are tted with 19-inch wheels. The standard rims for the SE model are 17-inch V-Spoke style light alloy wheels, but ten other rim designs can be speci ed as an option.
The side skirts of the BMW
X2 are among its signature features and contribute to its rugged good looks. The cladding is black on the SE and Sport models and Frozen Grey on the M Sport X. The C-pillars host two characteristic BMW features: the hallmark BMW Hofmeister kink and, for the rst time on a BMW X model, the BMW roundel.
At the rear, a spoiler provides a ourish to round o the BMW X2’s roo ine and contributes to the BMW X2’s drag co-e cient of just 0.28. Together with the width-enhancing rear bumper, this creates a powerful rear view.
The car hints at the power
of its BMW TwinPower Turbo engines through the design of the tailpipes. All X2 models come with a twin exhaust arrangement 90mm diameter.

Who are Sparshatts of Kent?
Sparshatts of Kent has been synonymous with Mercedes-Benz in Kent for 40 years. Today the group operates four well-established sales and service sites across the county.
The story began in 1974 when Roger Sparshatt, the late David Jones and the late Jack Sparshatt met Peter Yates, Commercial Vehicle Manager of Mercedes-Benz UK, resulting in being awarded the franchise for Kent.
A site was located in Sittingbourne. On a dark, rain-swept evening Hans Taucher,
6 Small Business Fleet Management
Mercedes-Benz’s Director of Operations, Commercial Vehicles, drove down to Sittingbourne and after driving through the building – using his headlights to illuminate the interior – he declared it perfect for the job.
Business started in December 1974 – our first vehicle customer was CRG Plant of Whitstable, which purchased a 206D Chassis cab and a 2419 six-wheeled tipper.
As the business grew, so did Roger & David’s knowledge of the Kent ‘patch’ and its truck operators. They borrowed a 30,000sq ft warehouse to store vehicles awaiting delivery. In 1988 a new, purpose-built dealership was constructed.
Other developments soon followed, including the launch of one of Britain’s first 24-hour workshops, meaning vehicles could be serviced while their drivers slept.
Further expansion came with the opening of a second depot at Ashford, and then a third at Dartford. With the acquisition of Kent and Sussex Trucks in 2006,
Sparshatts secured its representation across Kent.
Our success in representing the three-pointed star in Kent – and our commitment to the highest levels of service – has helped Sparshatts of Kent to win the coveted Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer of the Year title, not once, but twice.
Thirty years on, many of our early customers are still with us, as are a good number of our original staff. Today we employ more than
180 people.
While we continue to build for a successful future, our original values of personal service and commitment to our customers remain as strong as ever.
Sparshatts of Kent remains a family
run company, with second-generation members of the Jones and Sparshatt family working in the business.

Plant hire specialist CBL pick IVECO range for eet renewal
Plant hire specialist CBL has renewed its commercial vehicle eet with 11 IVECO Stralis rigid trucks and four Daily Hi-Matic light commercials, placing the order after a seed Stralis impressed during its rst year of work at the family-run company's Maidstone branch.
All the 26-tonne Stralis Hi- Street rigids feature day cabs and are equipped with Andover Trailers low pro le plant bodies with beavertails, while seven
of the 11 have been converted to four-axle 8x2 rigids. The 3.5-tonne Daily chassis cabs are mounted with plant bodies built by Brit-Tipp, and the new arrivals replace a mixed eet, and mark the rst IVECOs to be operated by CBL.
Delivered by IVECO dealer Hendy Van & Truck, all 11
trucks were supplied under a comprehensive eight-year IVECO Elements repair and maintenance contract, structured to maximise vehicle reliability and performance over a long life in service and nanced through IVECO Capital.
CBL Depot Manager Kevin Clark says: "We rst considered the Stralis because it seemed perfectly suited for our operation – o ering a healthy payload potential, strong Cursor driveline and impressive manoeuvrability – which is essential when delivering plant in particularly challenging locations.
"This opinion was reinforced after running our rst IVECO out
of the Maidstone branch," he adds. "The Stralis quite literally delivered on all fronts and we received excellent feedback from our drivers. What's more, with the latest generation
Daily Hi-Matic, we also found everything we wanted in a 3.5-tonner."
The 11 Stralis rigids are all powered by Cursor engines which feature IVECO's patented HI-SCR technology, allowing CBL to meet the Euro VI emissions limit without the need for forced regeneration.
At CBL's request, the seven converted 8x2 Stralis rigids included in the order were speci ed with a Cursor 11 engine that delivers 420 hp, and Clark adds: "We asked for a powerful engine, and Hendy delivered. In the past, some of our vehicles struggled with hills when loaded with heavy plant, but we've been sailing up them since investing in the Stralis'!"
Commenting on the HI-SCR technology, Clark explains: "The simplicity of the system is a big advantage in our eyes. It keeps unladen weight down, and means our drivers don't need
to push any buttons or make unscheduled stops to regenerate the diesel particulate lter, which means we potentially save
time on the road versus other manufacturer's systems, and minimise the risk of any possible disruption for our customers."
The 15 new arrivals will
work across CBL's seven sites
in Bridgend, Bristol, Crawley, Maidstone, Newbury, Saltash and Southampton.
CBL's four Daily Hi-Matic chassis cabs are powered by
3 litre IVECO diesel engines, which can produce up to 146 hp between 3,000 and 3,500 rev/ min, plus up to 350 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,600 rev/ min, o ering the perfect blend of power and fuel e ciency.

Ford scrappage scheme helps London drivers avoid T-Charge in e orts to improve air quality
Drivers of older petrol and diesel vehicles, which do not comply with Euro 4 emission standard, must now pay the Emissions Surcharge, known as the T-Charge, when entering the central London Congestion Charge zone.
Introduced with the aim
to improve air quality, and
in particular reduce nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate emissions, the surcharge is welcomed by Ford as a positive step in the collective approach needed to tackle air quality issues.
In August Ford announced a car and van scrappage scheme aimed at improving air quality by enabling owners of any pre- Euro 5 vehicle, registered by 31st December 2009, to bene t from a scrappage incentive of between £2,000 and £7,000

on a variety of Ford models, including the new high-tech Fiesta and Transit Custom, Britain’s most popular car and van respectively.
“Removing the most polluting vehicles from our roads has the potential to transform air quality in congested urban areas,” said Andy Barratt, Chairman and
MD of Ford of Britain. “But with over 19 million such vehicles on the road, we have always campaigned for collaboration across public and private sectors,” he added.
The Ford Scrappage scheme can help drivers, of any brand, to trade-in their old vehicles
for new and a ordable Ford cars and commercial vehicles, including the popular Fiesta and Transit Custom, with signi cantly lower emissions. All new Ford EcoBoost petrol and EcoBlue
diesel models not only meet the Euro 6 standard, the toughest vehicle emissions yet, they also allow surcharge-free access to central London.
Almost 7,000 vehicles have been scrapped under the Ford scheme, which started in late August and runs to the end
of the year, and is e ective for registrations from September 1st to December 31st 2017.
Medium to longer-term actions to improve air quality include a plug-in hybrid version of the Ford Transit Custom, due to start trials later this year. The Transit PHEV is planned for commercial introduction
in 2019 and is part of Ford’s total investment of $4.5 billion in electri ed vehicles by 2020, which also includes a fully electric, long-range SUV.

New Volvo XC40 scores residual values win versus premium rivals
Volvo’s new XC40 premium compact SUV has followed
in the footsteps of its larger stablemates with competition- beating residual values, following the car’s unveiling in Milan.
Residual value guides Cap Hpi and KeeResources have both positioned the new XC40, Volvo’s rst entry into the compact SUV sector, ahead of its two main premium German rivals, the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. The gures underline further Volvo’s status as a fully- edged premium brand.
The Volvo XC40 D3 Momentum in manual guise is estimated to be worth 43% of its
cost new price after three years and 60,000 miles according to Cap Hpi, and 46% according to KeeResources. That compares with 36% and 42% for the equivalent Audi Q3 Sport and 38% and 44% for the equivalent BMW X1 SE respectively.
The equivalent T3 model fares even better at 45% of its cost new price after three years and 60,000 miles according to Cap Hpi and KeeResources. Both used value guides valued the equivalent Audi Q3 Sport at 39%, while Cap Hpi valued the equivalent BMW X1 SE at 33% and KeeResources at 41%.
Graeme Oswald, Remarketing and Total Cost of Ownership Manager, Volvo Car UK, said, “Our larger 90 series cars, as well as the new XC60, have paved the way for these strong residual values, and it’s a fantastic achievement that our new compact SUV has been so well received by the industry.
“Strong residual values mean lower monthly contract hire and personal leasing rates, which make a car more competitive with eet and retail customers alike.”
The new Volvo XC40 is available to order now.

The all-new Mazda CX-5 achieves maximum ve-star Euro NCAP rating
The all-new Mazda CX-5 has been awarded the maximum ve-star safety rating by Euro NCAP. Based on their rigorous independent crash testing,
plus evaluation of Mazda’s sophisticated driver assistance systems, Euro NCAP’s ve- star rating is comprehensive endorsement of the all-new CX- 5’s passive and active safety.
Equipped with Mazda’s advanced and innovative i-ACTIVSENSE driver-supporting safety technologies that deliver class-leading active safety performance, the all-new CX-5’s high strength SKYACTIV-BODY also ensures passive safety is exemplary, too.
With a body that absorbs and disperses impact force e ciently within the engine compartment to more e ectively suppress cabin deformation during a collision, the all-new CX-5 features optimally shaped reinforcement at the base of the A pillars. In addition, the A pillars are now fabricated in 1,180 MPa ultra-high-tensile steel, which combines weight reduction with a
higher level of collision safety. Enhancing side collision
performance, a solid H-shaped ring structure joining the roof
and B pillars to the underbody combines with two side impact bars in each front door and one in each rear door to prevent cabin deformation. The use of 980
MPa ultra-high-tensile steel in the B pillars and side sills further improves cabin strength without weight increase penalties.
To the rear, side sub-frames e ciently absorb and disperse impact energy, while a frame layout and structure protects the fuel tank and helps prevent fuel leakage in the event of a collision.
It comes tted with six airbags – dual front, side airbags and full- length curtain, while three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters and ISOFIX child seat anchor points equip the left and right rear seats, completing the standard safety package.
With meticulous attention paid to lowering the risk of pedestrian impact injury, the all-new CX-
5‘s safety reach extends to
other road users, as well. Holes and cutouts within the bonnet reinforcements create an easily crushable structure that helps mitigate injury to a pedestrian‘s head in the event of an accident. In addition, the cowl panel employs an S-shaped structural cross-section that acts like a spring to help better absorb energy. Energy-absorbing foam placed within the front bumper helps limit the degree of injury to
a pedestrian‘s legs, while a lower bumper sti ener helps prevent the legs from sliding under the front of the car.
Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE intelligent active safety technology supports day-to-day use, delivering a level of driver support that’s perfectly aligned to Mazda’s ‘Love of Driving’ approach. Standard across the range Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS) uses a forward sensing camera to automatically stop or reduce the speed of the car when there is a risk of collision with the vehicle or pedestrian in front. The system alerts the driver using a warning sound and graphic indication, and if it detects a collision is imminent and unavoidable, the system automatically applies the brakes.
With robust passive safety and advanced active safety technology, the Euro NCAP ve- star all-new Mazda CX-5 delivers class-leading safety alongside the driver engagement you’d expect from Mazda.

New T4 petrol engine joins the Volvo S90 and V90 ranges
Volvo Car UK has released
a new petrol engine in its premium S90 and V90 model ranges, o ering greater choice for drivers, particularly company motorists.
Drivers who want an alternative to diesel can now opt for the T4 version of the S90 saloon and V90 estate. Powered by a Euro VI four-cylinder
petrol engine and mated to an automatic gearbox as standard, it generates 190 hp and o ers impressive fuel economy gures – 42.2 mpg in the S90 and 40.9 mpg in the V90, both on the combined cycle.
The T4 versions are available from entry-level Momentum
to luxurious Inscription Pro
form, and share the high level
of standard features as their existing diesel and petrol-electric hybrid siblings – this includes Volvo’s ground-breaking Sensus nine-inch touch screen control system, satellite navigation with Real Time Tra c Information*, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection, Pilot Assist semi-autonomous drive technology, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control
and leather-faced upholstery. Depending on the trim level,
T4 versions are available with wheels ranging from 18 to 21 inches.
The T4 engine joins the S90 and V90 ranges alongside the T6 in the V90 Cross Country,
which was the rst V90 variant to be o ered as a pure petrol.
Volvo Car UK’s Head
of Business Sales, Steve Beattie, commented: “Petrol is becoming an increasingly popular choice with motorists,
including business users. It’s imperative we o er the range
of engines that our customers demand, and we expect strong interest in the S90 and V90 T4.”

Frugal new Ford Fiesta's double win in MPG marathon
The new Ford Fiesta smashed records on the UK’s annual MPG Marathon proving its fuel-sipping credentials within months of going on sale.
While the petrol new Fiesta on the 350-mile event was turbo- charged and boasted 125PS, smooth driving techniques sealed an average 97mpg – blitzing
the previous 84mpg record and crowning it new Petrol Champion.
The diesel new Fiesta beat the 108.8mpg benchmark set ve years ago by the prior Ford supermini by pushing the record up to 122mpg to take Overall Champion title.
Ex- works rally team Andy Dawson and Andrew Marriott drove the petrol Fiesta and journalist Paul Clifton with Ian McKean piloted the diesel. Both
six-speed cars were coaxed to exceed their o cial mpg numbers by 48.3 and 51.2 per cent respectively.
They followed six simple Ford eco-driving tips which can help all drivers save fuel – and money:
1. Service your car and check
the oil level regularly. Correctly maintained cars operate more e ciently
2. Check tyre pressures monthly. Underin ated tyres can increase fuel consumption by up to four per cent
3. Do not carry unnecessary weight in the boot or cabin
4. Remove empty roof racks and keep windows shut, especially before driving at high speeds. This will reduce wind resistance, reducing fuel use by up to 10 per cent
5. Drive smoothly, looking as
far as possible ahead – and behind. Sudden acceleration and braking penalise fuel economy
6. When accelerating, select higher gears as early as possible. Ford models have gear-shift indicators to optimise gear selection
Andy Dawson, Ford lead driver
on the MPG Marathon, said: “Maximising fuel economy not only saves money, but smooth driving can also be fun thanks to the new Fiesta’s brilliant steering and suspension. Using less fuel also means reduced emissions, limiting motorists’ environmental impact.”
The all-new Ford Fiesta has been on sale since July, with over 15,000 sold to date. The UK favourite has been Britain’s best seller every year since 2008.

Legendary Ducato celebrates its 35th birthday
Sold in more than 80 countries worldwide and with an incredible 10,000 variants, the legendary Fiat Ducato is celebrating its 35th birthday.
The ever-popular van,
which has become as iconic
as a camper as it has as a commercial vehicle, marked the milestone this week.
Since the rst Ducato rolled o the production line at Val
di Sangro’s SEVEL (Società Europea Veicoli Leggeri)
factory in October 1981, it has consistently been a market leader in versatility, engine power and low running costs.
Today, the sixth-generation Ducato is produced in three countries (Mexico, Brazil and Italy), with a better payload than ever (2,100kg) and even the option of air suspension.
O ering a range of diesel engines and with second- generation MultiJet technology, it sets the bar in terms of e ciency and low maintenance costs.
Other milestones reached over the years include the introduction of Steyr-Puch all-wheel drive
in 1989, the all-electric Ducato Elettra launched in the early 1990s and winning International Van of the Year in 1994.
Its third-generation variant became a game changer when, for the rst time in the sector, the gear lever was incorporated into the central console, facilitating access to the cab from both doors and from the cab to the loading compartment.
In the early 2000s it led the way for alternative fuels in Europe with its petrol/methane engine, while the fth-generation Ducato, launched in 2006, was the rst front-wheel-drive van to o er a volume of 17 cubic metres.
The popularity of the Ducato shows no sign of stopping with more than ve million sales since its launch. Sold in more than 80 countries worldwide, including North America since 2013 by RAM under the name of PROMASTER, the Ducato is now produced in three countries (Mexico, Brazil and Italy) and is a truly global vehicle and a leader in the light commercial vehicles sector.

The JCT600 story – a family
business at heart
Last year was hugely signifcant as we marked our 70th anniversary.
Our story began in 1946 when Edward Tordo and two other partners established Tordo Motors Ltd. Following the death of his father, Jack Tordo bought all the shares and built a new showroom next to the original garage. Having bought a Mercedes 600 bearing the registration plate ‘JCT600’ – Jack’s initials and the car model – he was inspired to create the brand we know today.
Find out more
about JCT600’s history by viewing our videos with Chairman Jack Tordo
From those humble beginnings, JCT600 has grown into one of the UK’s largest and most respected motor retailers, representing 18 of the worlds most iconic
brands across 50 locations throughout Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and the North East.
People are the key to our success. With around 2,000 colleagues and four generations of the Tordo
family among these, JCT600 remains a proud family business. Yet despite our stature, with annual
turnover in excess of £1bn, our vision remains the same as it’s always been – we don’t want to be the
biggest, we just want to be the best!
We are enormously proud of the support we o er to our annual nominated charity and the
numerous others close to our colleagues’ hearts. We are honoured to support our local communities through various sponsorship
programmes, both large and small, and actively promote Environmental Awareness through a
range of initiatives and investment.

Ford Transit Custom is the smart choice for SSE meter tters
Leading British energy supplier SSE has switched on to the Ford Transit Custom as the preferred workhorse for its army of smart meter installers, with 507 specially equipped examples joining SSE’s eet.
The rst of the strikingly liveried Transit Customs are already hitting the road as part of SSE’s nationwide smart meter roll-out programme.
“We chose the Ford Transit Custom for this role for a number of reasons,” said Gemma Trew, SSE van and truck eet manager. “It was not simply a question
of economics – although the Transit does o er excellent whole-life costs – driver comfort and load area convenience
were signi cant factors too. The Transit’s load space shape is ideal for the job.”
SSE’s Transit Customs are
equipped with the powerful yet economical 2.0-litre 130PS Ford EcoBlue TDCi engine with Auto- Stop-Start technology. They
are tted with internal storage and racking systems at Qi Van Systems of Telford, Shropshire, and liveried at Media eet of Witney, Oxfordshire.
Delivery of the 507 Transit Customs will be completed by November and the vans will
be in service across the UK. Their arrival on the SSE eet
will increase Ford’s share of the company’s 6,000-vehicle light commercial eet to nearly 30 per cent
Stephen Gafson, Ford of Britain direct sales manager, said: “This is a massive order for Ford and one which underlines the competitiveness and desirability of the Transit Custom for major companies seeking a reliable and
cost-e ective solution.” Following its introduction
in 2012 the Transit Custom established itself as Ford’s top- selling commercial vehicle in
the UK and across Europe. Last year’s total European sales of Transit Custom stood at 118,000, a 15 per cent increase over the previous year’s record gure.
More than 50,000 Transit Customs were sold in the UK last year, pushing total Transit registrations here, including Courier, Connect and the two- tonne Transit, to over 100,000. Later this year a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version
of the Transit Custom will be delivered to 20 test eets, with an emission-free range of over 30 miles and award winning Ford 1.0-litre petrol engine as a range extender.

Honda models outperform industry RV forecasts
2017 British- built Civic Type R shortlisted for What Car? award
The British-built Honda Civic Type R has been shortlisted
for the coveted What Car? reader award and is among the most eagerly anticipated car launches of 2017.
Made in Swindon and expected in showrooms in the latter half of 2017, the next generation Civic Type R comes hot on the heels of the current car, which was launched in summer 2015. Debuted as a prototype at the Paris Motor Show back in September, the mass production version is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
With over 10,000 readers expected to vote on a list of 2017 car launches compiled by the experts at What Car?, the competition is erce as the award is a valuable indication of sentiment towards cars being brought to market in the next year.
Honda last won the award in 2015 when the HR-V claimed a massive 25% of the 10,000 votes, and came a close second in 2016 with the NSX.
Two of Honda’s newest and most popular models – the stylish Jazz city car and acclaimed HR-V crossover – have outperformed all forecasts to achieve market- leading residual value levels, according to the latest gures from RV setters CAP.
The gures from CAP’s ‘Black Book’ show the Honda HR-V Diesel will hold an impressive 77% of its value after twelve months/20,000 miles – up to 15% more than the Nissan Qashqai and even further ahead of other crossover competitors.
And while the Jazz may be compact, its RVs are anything but. CAP’s data shows the model retains an incredible 12% more than the Ford Fiesta.
In addition, the latest generation of the Jazz is performing signi cantly better than its predecessor, with RVs for year-old models some 16% higher.
The results underline the quality and appeal of both
the Jazz and HR-V and are underpinned by Honda’s legendary reputation for reliability.
What’s more, they demonstrate the continual progress that’s been made by the brand in improving residual values across the board.
Phil Webb, Head of Cars at Honda (UK), said: “As a brand Honda has been working very hard in close co-operation
with the industry to improve residual values for all our models. Unlike rivals, we do not force registrations through heavily discounted channels and this is paying dividends.
“The RVs being achieved by the Jazz and HR-V equal those
of premium brand models and
far exceed even our own original forecasts. We now expect to see similarly impressive residual value gures for the all-new 2017 Civic.”

The range-topping limited edition model is set to join the range at the end of November and o ers a stylish design package and a raft of optional extras that deliver the highest level of comfort, convenience and practicality. Just 500 examples of the Caddy Black Edition are destined for the UK, so buyers looking for the ultimate speci cation Caddy will need to act quickly.
Although this is the rst Black Edition to join the fourth- generation Caddy range, previous models have proved extremely popular with buyers. Like its predecessors, the

black roof rails, body-coloured bumpers, door mirrors and handles, front fog lights with cornering lights, lowered suspension (by 27 mm) and sporty 17-inch Canyon two-tone Black and Silver alloy wheels.
Inside, the Caddy Black Edition features full carpeting, leather multi-function steering wheel, gearknob and gaiter, climatic air conditioning and heated windscreen. The extensive standard equipment list also includes cruise control, DAB+ radio and Driver Alert System.
Despite its generous speci cation list, which would normally add around £2,000
to the price of the standard Highline model, the new Caddy Black Edition commands a modest £800 premium over
the Highline. That represents a customer value gure of £1,200, making the Caddy Black Edition
exceptional value for money. The Caddy Black Edition
is equipped with a 2.0-litre
TDI 102 PS EU6 engine
and a ve-speed manual transmission. It delivers a ne balance of performance and e ciency and is equipped,
as all Caddy models are,
with Volkswagen’s suite of BlueMotion technologies. These include Start/Stop, Hill Hold Assist, regenerative braking
and low rolling resistance tyres. As a result, the Caddy Black Edition returns 60.1 mpg on the combined cycle and has CO2 emissions of 123 g/km.

Game-changing Ford Ecoblue Diesel stars at Hannover
The advanced all-new Ford EcoBlue diesel engine takes centre stage at the 2016 IAA Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show, delivering improved cost of ownership and performance in Ford’s latest Transit and Transit Custom models.
The Ford EcoBlue engine powers every vehicle displayed on Ford’s Hannover stand, and provides commercial vehicle operators with fuel e ciency improved by up to 13 per cent compared with the outgoing 2.2-litre TDCi engine, with
CO2 emissions from 157g/
km, and delivers signi cant improvements in low-rpm torque for enhanced driveability.
“Ford’s EcoBlue engine is
a real diesel game changer, combining reduced cost of ownership with outstanding performance and cleaner emissions,” said Bernhard Mattes, Chairman, Ford of Germany. “As our sales growth shows, Ford already o ers
the most advanced line-up of commercial vehicles in Europe, and the all-new Ford EcoBlue engine takes it to a new level.”
All-new Ford EcoBlue diesel – cheaper to run, better to drive
The all-new 2.0-litre
Ford EcoBlue diesel uses a completely new architecture engineered to provide the next- generation of clean, e cient and re ned engines for future Ford
cars and commercial vehicles. The 2.0-litre engine has
been developed with the
latest turbocharging, fuel injection, combustion system, structural design and low- friction technologies to deliver signi cant improvements in fuel e ciency, performance and operating re nement, while delivering the outstanding durability and low cost-of- ownership demanded for a Transit power unit.
Available now in the latest Transit and Transit Custom models, the 2.0-litre Ford EcoBlue engine is o ered in 105PS, 130PS and 170PS power ratings, each of which o ers increased power and torque compared with the outgoing 2.2-litre engine. Improved low-end pulling
power – with 20 per cent more torque at 1,250rpm – delivers more exible and responsive performance in everyday driving.
Lower running costs are
supported by signi cantly improved fuel e ciency.
Transit van models equipped with optional Auto-Start-Stop achieve CO2 emissionsfrom 174g/km and average fuel consumption from 42.8mpg – a 10 per cent reduction over the equivalent outgoing model.
Transit Custom vehicles tted with optional Auto-Start-Stop deliver CO2 emissionsfrom 157g/km with average fuel consumption from 46.3mpg
– 13 per cent down from the equivalent outgoing model.
Ford anticipates a fuel cost saving of up to £1,250 over 80,000 miles for the operator of a new 105PS Transit Custom van compared with the previous 100PS model.
Scheduled maintenance costs are also reduced,
with the extended variable service intervals of up to two years/36,000 miles o ering up to an additional 6,000 miles between services on both Transit and Transit Custom models, intervals that are not exceeded by any competitor.
The Ford EcoBlue diesel engine has been engineered
to meet Ford’s rigorous commercial vehicle durability standards, powering Transit vehicles through the equivalent of 3.4 million miles of punishing durability testing, including 250,000 miles of testing at
the hands of real-world Transit customers.
