SMP design is a full service Architecture firm based in Blue Ash, Ohio. We are a growing firm with
a wealth of experienced professionals, who have provided leadership and authorship of significant
Architectural projects for almost two decades in the Cincinnati market. SMP is pleased to announce
our collaboration with Dennis Cronin and David Wheeler, co-founding partners of Cincinnati-based
ATA Architects.

Extensive Multi-Family Housing Experience

Dennis and David, sold ATA Architects seven years ago and have since remained active in the
Residential Architectural market. For SMP design, this collaboration provides significant expertise and
depth in the multi-family housing market to an already established multi-disciplinary firm. Dennis
and David have many years of experience leading Architects and Engineers in delivering nearly 100
multi-family residential projects over a span of more than 40 years with a combined value of almost
$320 million. Their extensive experience includes affordable housing, elderly housing, projects
involving tax credits and historical renovation work. They are also considered industry leaders in
renovation of buildings while occupied by residents, with many examples of projects where funds
were invested back into the project rather than being used for temporary resident relocation.

History of Working Together Successfully

This teaming is a culmination of personal and professional relationships enjoyed over decades
between Dennis, David and Kevin Spector, lead designer of SMP. Kevin was mentored by both Dennis
and David during an internship at ATA Architects in the 1990’s and worked for many years for them
after graduating Architecture School. Together, they delivered many successful projects together in
the Cincinnati area.

Experience Managing Complex Projects with Many Moving Parts

The SMP team brings a diverse background of design skills to the table, including experience with
public works, hospitality, retail, healthcare, institutional, education, mixed-use development, and
residential projects. We have excelled at both leading and managing mid-size to very large projects,
varying from complex multi-phased campus redevelopments, to master planning and feasibility-
concept design studies. Our combined experience include managing teams of Architects and
Engineers on multiple projects in excess of $100 million. We have excelled at large complex projects,
setting ourselves apart as quality focused, problem solvers with the ability and expertise to develop
both significant and practical designs. Much of our experience is on large scale projects within the
Uptown district, including major leadership roles for projects at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. We
are driven to produce high quality projects, but are pragmatic and budget conscious - the qualities of
innovative problem solvers. That is why we are one of the few Architectural firms that regularly and
continuously work for clients such as Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. We work directly with Owners,
Developers, Corporate and Public Entities to manage expectations, design quality, and budgets to
deliver successful projects. Our collaboration with Dennis Cronin and David Wheeler, brings an
additional wealth of expertise and depth of experience, managing and delivering large and complex
multi-family projects in any geographic location.

A Design Team with Extensive Construction Experience

What differentiates SMP from other firms, is the fusion of design and construction expertise under
one roof. On a daily basis, we leverage interdisciplinary knowledge through collaboration between
our Architects, Designers and Construction Professionals with the common goal of improved quality
in all our projects. Under the leadership of Guylando Moreno, SMP design, brings decades of on-the-
job construction management experience to all jobs, an invaluable aspect to planning the logistics
and possible phasing of a job during the early design phase. In addition, the construction experience
Dennis Cronin and David Wheeler bring to the table as developers and design-builders, further
infuses expert design practice with substantial construction knowledge and ability.

Sustainability Expertise and Leadership

SMP is led by LEED accredited design professionals with experience in managing and guiding large
scale complex projects through the LEED process. We have experience leading projects and guiding
Owners on projects, where attaining a certain level of sustainability has direct tax benefits or financial
incentive.
