Multiple-tier Timelines

Multiple-tier timelines use two or more rows of events.
While each row represents a different subject, the time
period is the same.

Multiple-tier timelines can be used to help us look at
cause and effect relationships or patterns and themes
among events in a specific period of time.

We will be using a multi-tier timeline to show the rise
and fall of four early civilizations in the Americas: The
Mississippian, Inca, Maya, and Aztec and look for
RELATIONSHIPS between the dates.

The Mississippian people were a unique civilization that truly
proves that relationships are powerful. One way that the
Mississippian people powerfully kept their civilization alive was
through a strong system of government. The sun chief directly
communicated with the gods and the people listened to him because
of this connection. The people were led by a chief whom they Their

4 classes. 1.suns 2. Nobles 3.honored men/women4.lower class.The
lower class had the most important job in terms of keeping the
civilization going. They were workers. Their agriculture was great.
They connected to their environment. They fished and hunted for
communal food such as corn, beans, squash, and pumpkins. They
grew corn, squash, beans, and pumpkins. since they worshiped the
sun they were very connected to their environment. As you can see,
this fantastic civilization proved that relationships can be powerful.

This is what I have learned about the
Mayan civilization. One thing I have
learned about the Mayans is that they
have ranks in their government. The
people at the top were the Suns, under
them there were Nobles, After them
there were honored men/women, Then
the lower class. The Mayans lived near
the gulf of mexico so it was hot where
they lived. The Mayan numbers were
very different than ours, To make a zero
they drew a shell to make a one they had
to make a circle, and to make a five they
drew a line. So that is some of what I
have learned about the Mayans.

The Aztec

These are the reasons the Aztecs truly proved that relationships are purposeful.
One reason is, the Aztecs’ social structure was a big part of society. The people at
the top had the most money and were treated the best. The people at the bottom
were slaves and didn’t have much. The next reason is, The Aztecs didn’t have
many laws to follow. They only had to not steal, murder or destroy property. That
shows relationships are purposeful because if you followed that rule you were
accepted. The final reason is, They swing from a pole and play sacred music to
please the gods. They also did human sacrifice to please the gods. That’s why the
Aztecs proved that relationships can be purposeful.
