First and foremost, I would like to
thank our lecturer, Madam Fida, for

giving us this opportunity to participate in this social campaign. Not
to mention, my dearest teammates who have constantly helped each other

and given their full cooperation in making this e-magazine. This e-
magazine is very close to me as I believe that each and every one of us
must have experienced and gone through some incident or phases in our
lives that makes us feel insecure or have self doubt. I used to see the
whole idea of self-love as a petty thing, however then only I realised

how important it is for our self growth especially in building the
foundation for self esteem. It might take months, years, perhaps even
decades for us to just simply accept who we truly are. As many of us, I
struggle in accepting myself especially when I started comparing myself
with others and having ups and downs in life. I sincerely hope that our

readers could understand about self love better at the end of this
magazine.

Therefore, I specifically chose the topic for my article to help the
readers to identify a few basic signs of lack in self-love that you might

have. So, I hope y”all enjoy reading this magazine and do not forget to
share it with your friends and family!

Short

Message

What you need to know before reading this magazine....

Hello there! This is a message just for you dear reader,
The theme of this magazine as you m
ay have guessed is about self love.
I hope that you read this magazine with a thought in mind, and that is

"This is a journey."

Yes, this might just be a magazine, and there might be a million magazines
just like this, but at this moment, right here and right now you're reading
this magazine specifically, and this message which is just for you dear reader,
is telling you that by picking this up and reading what lies in between the
pages, you are going on a journey of self discovery and self realisation, and

hopefully by the end, you end up with self love.

This magazine was made for our assignment from the LAW036 course, and
it couldn't have been done without the cooperation and hard work from each
and every member. As mentioned, the reading this magazine should feel like a
journey for the reader, but for us who made this magazine, it felt a journey
of our own. After reading up and researching so much on 'Loving Yourself', we

were able to relate the article to what we learned in LAW036 class,
touching on topics such as self esteem. I believe every single member has
changed in their own way, and have understood more on the topic of 'the self',
for the better, after making this magazine. In the end, the most important

lesson we learned is;

First, Love Yourself.

Make peace with your insecurities

Recognise and forgive yourself for almost any remaining insecurities you may
have. You're only human, so it's natural to have doubts or be insecure
regarding specific things.

By removing your self-judgement for not embracing every single part of
yourself, you stop beating yourself up by simply expressing the insecurity and

move on. Feeding your insecurity would lead to a severe obsession.

Accept that perfection doesn’t exist
and accept your “flaws”

We're all so unique and beautiful. You're distinct, and indifferent from another person. Whenever we believe we are 'less
than' others since they have things we don't, or that they are somehow 'better' than us, our self-love weakens. We have to

consider that you don't know everyone's story when you keep comparing yourself to others. The concept of perfection can
feel unavoidable in our increasingly image-obsessed culture. Perfection, on the other hand, is a completely abstract concept
that does not exist in reality. You'd probably receive 100 different notions of perfection if you asked 100 people to define

the perfect woman.
Furthermore, even the "ideal" models in magazines don't appear exactly like they do in magazines. Even after a team of
make-up artists, spray tanners, personal trainers, and personal chefs collaborated to get their desired image, they are
extensively airbrushed. So, why do we believe that "perfection" is feasible or achievable if those who have all the support in

the world and are paid to look immaculate need to be airbrushed?

RINSE AND REPEAT

Self-love is an ongoing conscious choice,

never a destination.

Check in with yourself on a daily basis to
ensure that preceding insecurities, or new
ones, aren't developing into obsessions.
Remind yourself to accept your
imperfections, reassess what is important to
you, and develop new ways to support
those principles. It's essential to remember
that self-love doesn't imply that you have to
like everything there is about yourself most
of the time; that's unrealistic.

Self-love is about deciding to give our
energy to the things that make us happier,
stronger, and more satisfied instead of
allowing those thoughts to consume us. It's
also about identifying and then dismissing
the conception of our destructive nature
that exists in ourselves.

To have Self-love, we need to have Self
Knowledge. By taking a step back and
giving time for introspection to think about
who we are, and in turn about what we
want, we can understand what is required
to achieve Self-Love.

DO YOU ALL KNOW WHAT
SELF COMPASSION IS?

Compassion is extending compassion to one's self in instances
of perceived inadequacy, failure, or general suffering. Kristin
Neff has defined self-compassion as being composed of three
main elements – self-kindness, common humanity, and
mindfulness.

Self-compassion entails mindful awareness of our negative
thoughts and emotions so that they are approached with
balance and equanimity. When we are mindful, we are
experimentally open to the reality of the present moment
without judgment, avoidance or repression. There are quite a
number of ways to implement self-compassion within yourself.

AFFIRMATION

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF AFFIRMATION? What the heck
are AFFIRMATIONS exactly, you think? Do you know words have
extreme power? Affirmations are powerful, positive statements that aim
to direct your conscious and subconscious mind, challenging
previously held unhealthy and negative thinking patterns. When they
are spoken with conviction, they can alter your thoughts, emotions,
beliefs and behavior.

Affirmations have helped thousands of people make important
changes in their lives. They work because they have the ability to
program your mind into accessing and believing the repeated
statements and concepts. By nurturing yourself with positive
affirmations, it further boosts your desire to continue your actions.

Basically practising affirmation would refrain ourselves from
involving into upward social comparison most of the time. Sometimes,

person, how you work or your relationship towards others)

2. Rephrase your negative features as positive affirmations, like

smart because I am willing to be more productive as days goes by’

3. Repeat your affirmations regularly

4. Anchor the affirmation into your body

5. Receive your affirmation from an external source ( you can use

Mental Diet Concept

Mental dieting is simply monitoring your thoughts and giving yourself positive content.
Any thoughts, ideas, and anything that empowers you and helps you reach your goals is
good for you, but doubts and limited beliefs are not always welcomed. For example,
suppose you think, "I'm a neat, clean, and organized person." It ’s very easy, isn’t it?

Now, ask yourself. "Is it a useful idea for me? Does it move me towards the person I
want to be? Does it hinder me?`. In this case, this idea is "good." It moves you forward
and helps you progress. On the other hand, the first idea is "I'm the most disorganized
person. My room is cluttered, can't be kept clean and always cluttered. Again, it's a
pretty simple concept. Is that a useful idea?

Is it moving you towards the person you want to be? not really. Of course, these
examples were a bit ridiculous, but even the least important aspects of our lives are great
for making sure that there are so many restrictive beliefs around us!

OUR JOB IS BASICALLY TO GET RID OF THEM AS
EFFICIENTLY AND QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

MENTAL DIET HELPS US!

Dealing with Useless Ideas / Limiting Beliefs

Return to the previous example. "I'm the most disorganized person. My room is
cluttered and can't be kept clean, I'm always cluttered and I have to live in a
disorganized house. We found this idea,

What's next? Well, first of all, we have to admit that this is a limited belief. So
whenever we think of such a thing, in our minds, "It's a limited belief, repeat or
give it a name."

Now that you know that this idea isn't true at all, think about what you want and
calm down. In this case, think of you as a neat, clean, and organized person. When
you get back on track, continue from there and stay in the (correct) thinking lane. In

more practical terms than , this exchange will look like this in your head:

"I'm the most disorganized
person . My room is

cluttered and can't be kept
clean, always cluttered
and I have to live in a
disorganized house. "

This is absolutely wrong, it's a
limited belief. I am a naturally
clean, tidy and organized person.
Whenever I pick up something, I put
it back in place. Organization is my

middle name.

It may sound ridiculous, but it's the most effective way to get quick and powerful
results using a mental diet.!

The Takeaway

NOW, let’s sum up what has been discussed here about mental diet!

Mental diets help you monitor your thoughts. Therefore, it helps you decide which
ideas to empower. Of course, you want to move you forward and choose the ones that

move you among the people you want to be.

What if we come across an idea that makes us wonder, just feel sick, or feel the
opposite of what we want? For starters, we are not surprised. In fact, we simply admit
the idea and neutralize it. We can simply call it a limited belief and then move on to

productive thinking or calm down and get back on track.

6 SIGNS YOU LACK SELF-LOVE

The belief that "I am not loveable" As we all know that self-love is about loving and

significant other or your friends. size, sexual orientation, and physical appearance
However, the truth is that you are the
only person who can change this belief. But it is easier said than done. It is inevitable that
people face difficulties to truly accept who they
are. Thus, in this article we will help you to
identify 6 signs of self-destructive that may
indicate you are lacking in self-love. In
conclusion, without self - love, one's self esteem
will be at an all time low.

Perfectionism
This often happens when you have an insatiable desire to have everything done perfectly,
which is unrealistic in everyday life. You frequently feel flawed and inadequate, resulting in
low self-esteem. You hide it by behaving in ways you think are acceptable, such as being the
best-dressed person in the room, with never a hair out of place, and requiring faultless
feedback or else feeling devastated. When something isn't done the way they want it to be
done, they invariably blame others.

You experience negative self-talk
Negative self-talk is another branch of self-destructive in which you constantly say harsh
words or insults to yourself.

“I’m a loser.” “I don’t deserve to be happy.”
“Why did I say that? I’m so stupid.”

These are the common examples of negative self-talk that can result from low confidence.
Also, if you regularly insult yourself which can be either internally or in conversation with
others, this may also indicate that you are likely to have low self-esteem. Being unforgiving or
harsh on yourself when making mistakes can be a sign, too. This could also lead to self-hatred
which is more harmful to yourself

You have a poor self-image

Do you call yourself “fat” or “ugly” and judge
how you look when standing in front of a
mirror? If so, it’s likely you think poorly of
yourself and your appearance due to a
negative self-image.

Not feeling confident with yourself and
constantly criticise yourself on things that
you cannot change such as your skin colour,
physical shape (your jaw, heights and facial
features). This could be a major factor that
affects your life as many people think that
they do not fit into the society norms and
beauty standards. Most commonly, people
will be influenced by the idea of “ideal look
& physical or body shape” although it is not
necessarily true. Everyone is beautiful in all
sizes and shapes and no one should feel
ashamed for being themselves.

Therefore, this behaviour could lead to
the culture of rejecting compliments.

Rejecting compliments is another
example of negative self-esteem

You Treat Your Mental and Physical
Health Poorly

Lack of self-love could affect your mental
health when you feel unworthy and
constantly comparing yourself with
others. Maybe you feel like you don’t
deserve love, praise, or a raise at work.
This is directly related to how much you
value yourself and your abilities as well as
your mental well-being. Hence, we should

You Settle
for Less

People lacking self-love may settle for
less than what they can achieve. They
may give up their dreams and settle
for something completely different.
Part of this may be due to their fear
of failure, otherwise, a person may
not feel that they have what it takes
and sell themselves short on achieving
what they truly want.

This also indicates the sign of not
being confident and self-doubt.
Usually people will think that they do
not deserve everything although they
have been too harsh on themselves
such as sleepless nights of studying
and overwork. This can be especially
harmful as they may be settling for a
less satisfactory life

influential or famous persons
that have done the same thing
that can be categorized as self
love.

Lo and behold my friend, I will
present to you 3 influential
individuals that have put self
love as a stepping stone for
them in life

Instead of giving you the Hollywood celebrities as examples which are quite
common, I’m instead pick 3 individuals which ranges from one of the greatest

CONCLUSION
FIRST LOVE YOURSELF

All in all,the above examples are proof that we
should implement self love in our life.Different
persons might have different view and
understanding on self love, but it will be
beneficial for all of us. Self love should not mean
that you are being selfish, but instead that you
focus on things that really matter for you.

Self love does not mean that you are slacking
around, but it means that you are constantly
trying to improve yourself. Self love should not
mean that you could not accept your weaknesses,
but it means that you acknowledge it and won't let
it to stop you from thriving. From this, we can see
that self love is highly beneficial and should be
implement by everyone. From the three
influential individuals that I mentioned, they all
have the ability to succeed after undergoing
tragedies and after facing problems in life. Those
events show their high self efficacy due to high
self love. Remember folks, keep calm and love
yourself.
