At the heart of Panipat and in the old city lies the dargah
of Shaikh Sharafuddeen Bu Ali Qalandar Panipati (1209-1324), a Sufi
saint of the Chishti order. His real name was Shaikh Sharfuddin but he
is more famously known as Bu Ali Shah. He completed his studies at an
early age and subsequently taught near the Qutub Minar in Delhi for 20 years. There
are various legends around how the Sufi saint achieved sainthood and today thousands
of people from various walks of life offer prayers at the dargah.

Within silence lies the answer to chaos
and that moment can only be revealed when the
soul is ready to hear the sound of the divine. The
coexistence of chaos and profound peace makes
the dargah a refuge for those seeking solace.
People from all walks of life invest deep faith in
the dargah, which forms a significant part of the
culture and history of Panipat. The success of the
city owes much to this divine connection.

In 1526, the first battle of Panipat saw the end
of a powerful empire and the death of a successful ruler.
Ibrahim Lodi was the last emperor of the Lodi Empire and
he lost in battle to Babur’s army at Panipat. This resulted
in his death. Later a tomb was erected in his memory. Today this
tomb continues to stand in the heart of the city as witness to the
growth and development of Panipat from a historical city into an
industrially successful city.

Panipat back then was a small town, but now it has grown
into a self sufficient city. Its people and industries have made
a laborious effort to make it what it is. Sharing business
innovations is an important contribution made by the various
industrialists in the city. The success of this city began in
everyone willing to grow collectively”

Sukhmal Jain, Director of Flora Exports, a well-known textile exports company,

epitomizes the belief that education need not come through books; it can also be

acquired through experience. His acumen for innovation as much as his business

grace makes him a prominent character amongst the industrial community of

Panipat. He has been extensively featured in newspaper and magazine articles

for his many innovative contributions to Panipat’s textile weaving industry. His

business insights have helped make his company a leading global textile exporter.
