BERBAHASA DALAM KALANGAN

Fokus kajian ini untuk melihat kesan pengajaran dan pembelajaran subjek Bahasa
Melayu SPM berpandukan Kit Celik Mengarang Selangor (KCMS) dalam
penulisan karangan. Tujuan penggunaan KCMS adalah untuk membantu murid
menghasilkan penulisan yang teratur mengikut Standard Pembelajaran (SP), iaitu
daripada menganalisis, merangka, membina perenggan pendahuluan dan
perenggan isi kepada perenggan penutup. Penggunaan KCMS membantu murid
menghasilkan penulisan yang kohesi dan koheren. Selain itu, penggunaan KCMS
juga dapat diaplikasikan dalam kemahiran bertutur. Secara keseluruhannya,
inovasi KCMS bukan sahaja memudahkan murid menghasilkan penulisan yang
terancang, malah kit ini memudahkan guru membimbing murid secara ansur maju.
Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk kajian tindakan dan dijalankan di 38 buah
sekolah rintis melibatkan murid Tingkatan 5 dalam subjek Bahasa Melayu. Data
kajian tindakan ini dikumpulkan melalui Model Johnson (2002). Hasil kajian
menunjukkan bahawa murid dapat meningkatkan pencapaian dalam subjek
Bahasa Melayu berdasarkan analisis yang dijalankan. Dapatan peratus lulus murid
SPM menunjukkan keberkesanan penggunaan KCMS di sekolah rintis terlibat.
Kajian ini penting bagi menunjukkan keberkesanan penggunaan KCMS kepada
guru-guru, iaitu sebagai bahan bantu belajar dalam kemahiran menulis dan
bertutur bagi mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu. Selain itu, kajian ini juga merupakan
kajian sokongan yang melengkapi kajian sedia ada tentang pentingnya
penggunaan KCMS dalam proses Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran (P&P)
terutamanya subjek Bahasa Melayu.

STUDENTS’ LEARNING IN VOLTAIC CELL
AND DISPLACEMENT REACTION USING 02

“EVIL BOSS” AS AN ANAGOLY SCAFFOLD

This study describes an action research to enhance 14 Form 5 chemistry students’
learning in Voltaic Cell and Displacement Reaction using “Evil Boss” analogy
scaffold in an urban public school in Malaysia. Initial verbal survey with some of
the chemistry students provided feedback that they do not understand the
mechanism and concepts behind voltaic cell and displacement reaction, despite
having learnt the topic a few months ago, taught by another chemistry teacher,
before the researcher took over the class to teach them chemistry. A pre-test was
conducted and further confirmed this issue. Since schools were closed due to
COVID pandemic in the country, the delivery of how to use the “Evil Boss” as an
analogy to scaffold students’ learning in analysing chemical reactions in voltaic cell
as well as analysing the ability of a metal to displace another metal from its salt
solution, a displacement reaction, was done online via 2 separate Google Meet
sessions, each lasting 90 minutes. Post-test students’ average achievement score
showed a moderate improvement score of 3.15 for the displacement reaction,
whereas an improvement score of 3.20 was obtained for the voltaic cell. But in both
cases, more than 50% of the students still could not successfully score more than
5 out of maximum 10 in each test. The limitation of the use of analogy to scaffold
students’ learning in analysing chemical reactions in voltaic cell as well as
analysing the ability of a metal to displace another metal from its salt solution, a
displacement reaction was discussed. In a nutshell, the “Evil Boss” analogy
provided scaffolding to some extent, but it is not a substitute for the chemistry
knowledge required by students to successfully communicate the chemical
concepts and operation within the context of displacement reaction as well as
voltaic cell. Implication from the findings from this study were discussed and future
studies suggested.

Kajian ini dijalankan untuk membantu pelajar menjawab soalan Bahagian A Kertas
1 dan mendapat markah lebih daripada 10, daripada markah keseluruhan 20. Ia
juga untuk membantu pelajar menulis ayat mudah Bahasa Inggeris dengan
menggunakan tatabahasa yang betul. Kajian ini terdiri daripada 15 orang pelajar
tahun 6 Proaktif dan seorang guru dari SK Rasa, Hulu Selangor. Melalui analisis
pra ujian, didapati bahawa murid-murid menghadapi kesukaran untuk memahami
Tatabahasa iaitu TENSES dan seterusnya sukar bagi mereka untuk menjawab
soalan kertas pemahaman Bahagian A; Grammar dan juga menulis karangan
bergambar Bahagian C. Teknik PEEKABOO digunakan bertujuan untuk
meningkatkan kemahiran murid-murid 6 Proaktif, SK Rasa memahami soalan
jenis Tenses ini dan telah diselesaikan dalam tempoh 4 bulan. Daripada analisis
penilaian keputusan pasca ujian, murid didapati membuat kurang kesilapan iaitu
35 berbanding 88 kesalahan sebelum kajian ini dijalankan. Keputusan Ujian Bulan
Mac Kertas 1 – Bahagian A juga telah menunjukkan peningkatan purata sebanyak
29%. Dapatan daripada pemerhatian pula menunjukkan murid menyukai Teknik
PEEKABOO kerana ia banyak terbukti membantu murid meningkatkan keyakinan
diri dan kefahaman disamping menjadikan suasana PdP lebih ceria dan
menyeronokkan.

ZERO WASTE FIRE STARTER ABSTRAK

Starting fires is not something we do often. Getting fire started is a big deal since
it depends on the conditions. Hence, it is been a challenge on camping trips. There
are many fire starters being used out there. Camphor, charcoal, paraffin soaked
commercial fire starters, fossil fuel such as petrol are some of the fire starters being
used commercially. However, each of it has its own benefits and drawbacks. Some
fire starters takes time to start up fire, burn only for short period of time, fire goes
off if fire starters get wet and emits chemical fume. In addition, commercial fire
starters are non-biodegradable and not environmental friendly. Hence, transition
from non-renewable resource commercial fire starters to renewable resource fire
starter is needed. The innovation aim of this study is to produce Zero Waste Fire
Starter by turning household waste products and cow dung into something that can
be burnt with addition of beeswax. Egg cartons were stuffed with dried cow dung
which mixed with beeswax. Once dried completely, it was cut into individual fire
starters. Then, beeswax was melted and poured over individual fire starters and it
is ready to be used. Comparison study was carried out to determine the
characteristics of commercial fire starter and Zero Waste Fire Starter. Zero Waste
Fire Starter burns longer for several minutes which can be the best fire starter for
camping. It took only less than 30 seconds to start up fire. That is the only fire
starter that has waterproof capability. This product is kind to planet as it is made of
waste and biomass which is biodegradable. In a way, zero waste fire starter
reduces waste and utilizes biomass.

“Naphthalene Mothball: A Silent Killer” was the headline of an article that we read.
This article proves that the usage of toxic mothballs are no longer strange to
anyone as the usage of it in households, workplaces, schools, and restaurants are
drastically increasing. So, why must we continue using those toxic mothballs in the
market? Firstly, we cannot deny the fact that the insect population is increasing
everywhere. This is one of the prime reasons that influences someone to buy this
silent killer to protect themselves from manifestation of insects that could probably
carry deadly pathogens and insect-borne diseases. Aside from that, when these
chemicals are exposed to air, they emit gasses that irritate the eyes, lungs, or even
worse, cancer. However, that is not the main issue. What is more alarming is the
usage of mothballs without proper knowledge could bring more harm to not only
humans but also to the environment. The current type of mothballs available on
the shelves in stores contain chemical substances such as naphthalene or
paradichlorobenzene, which can cause health issues related to skin, neurons, and
respiratory system. The effects may be more serious when the mothballs are
exposed to children under the age of 2 years old and to those who have “G6PD”
(glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency) for a long term. These mothballs
usually release an unpleasant, pungent smell. So, our main objective is to
substitute the use of those existing mothballs that are harmful to human beings
and the environment to more practical and safer ones. Therefore, we came up with
a product called "Voňavé REPELLENT". Our product achieves the same result as
the toxic mothballs on the market, but it is safer, more practical, and cheaper to
help overcome this alarming situation. In short, Voňavé REPELLENT is the product
that we have been waiting for all these days.

THE USE OF ‘10G MODULE” TO ABSTRAK
DESCRIBE THE GLYCOLYSIS PROCESS
AMONG STUDENTS 06

The main purpose of carrying out this study is to help Semester 1 students to be
able to describe the process of Glycolysis accurately. 11 Biology students from 6
Ibnu Sina were involved in this action research. The objective of the study is to
evaluate the effectiveness of using a module developed by the researcher in
describing the process of glycolysis, which is one of the important processes that
students need to know. From the formative evaluation carried out it was found that
most students were unable to describe the process of glycolysis correctly as it
involved 10 different steps with 10 different substrate and products. Students from
every batch faced problem to describe the process accurately. Therefore, the
researcher decided to develop an effective method to help the students to
memorize the process systematically and accurately. The “10G Module” developed
was intended to help students to memorize the process more systematically. The
study was conducted in three stages, starting from a pre-test containing a structure
question with a diagram showing the steps involved in glycolysis process. The
second stage of the study, the researcher gave the students a self-developed
module specifically for glycolysis process. During the 40 minutes of learning and
teaching, the students were given the module and students were guide through the
module. Then, students were then asked to rewrite the steps involved in the form
of full essay. The third stage of the study was the post-test, which were carried out
after a three-day interval. The result from the post-test obtained showed a
significant improvement of the students to the subtopic. Every student has showed
improvement with 100% students passed the post-test compared to only 36.4% in
the pre-test. The module was found to be able the improved the students’ memory
and thus able to describe the process more accurately. This action research has
proven to be effective to improve students’ ability in this topic.

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membantu meningkatkan kemahiran penguasaan rumus
Carta Pai Berbanding dalam kalangan pelajar S2 SS6. Memandangkan tidak
semua pelajar dapat menguasai rumus ini dengan mudah sekiranya tidak merujuk
kepada nota atau catatan. Objektif pengenalan Teknik Jejari Ka/Ki menjurus
kepada kaedah mudah mengingat rumus Carta Pai Berbanding dan mengelakkan
kesilapan dalam pengiraan. Tinjauan awal dilakukan terhadap latihan pelajar, temu
bual dan ujian pra. Hasil data kajian menunjukkan bahawa seramai 12 orang
daripada 26 orang pelajar menghadapi cabaran dalam mengingat rumus Carta Pai
Berbanding dan juga sering melakukan kesilapan dalam pengiraan nisbah jejari.
Dalam kajian ini pengkaji akan berkongsi satu rumus mudah yang disebut sebagai
Jejari √ KA / KI (Data Mutlak Kanan Bahagi Data Mutlak Kiri). Seterusnya dua siri
aktiviti dan latihan kerja pelajar dilaksanakan bagi membolehkan pelajar terlibat
mudah mengaplikasikan teknik ini. Hasil dapatan kajian melalui ujian pasca,
temubual dan pemerhatian membuktikan bahawa Teknik Jejari Ka/Ki telah berjaya
menyelesaikan masalah yang berkaitan mengingat dan mengelakkan kesilapan
dalam pengiraan nisbah jejari Carta Pai Berbanding. Harapan agar teknik ini dapat
diperluaskan kepada pelajar pelajar lain yang menghadapi isu yang sama.
