Thinking Tall: The Task
The design course for this semester requires students to design a
high-rise or multi-storey building of significant complexity for a
corporate client or public entity in Kuala Lumpur. Based on the theme
Paradoxing The Next, students are to utilise the paradoxical thinking
and blue ocean strategy to create a new paradigm of high-rise
development that takes into consideration the political, economic,
social, environmental issues and technological advancements such
as political determinants and economic growth and influence, rapid
urban migration and population growth, equality and inclusivity
and urban pollution and climate change. Students should see
tall buildings beyond the sheer height of density to an entity that
stands tall not only as an iconic structure but communicates with its
surroundings.

Productivity : Life Treatment and

Human and Mechine Evolve together
Malaysia ranked 4th for most overworked city among 50 cities in a study on work
life balance in 2020. It was 1st for longest hours worked and hours spent
commuting, and last among other cities when it came to easy access to mental
health care.
This overworking lead to stress and its effect would be sleep deprived,
de-moralize, the suggestion of quitting. The outcome would becoming
unproductive and increase health risk. In the era of industry revolution 4.0 toward
5.0, the growth of technology and Ai industries become a catalyst of having a new
solution.
Elon Musk’s company Neuralink is developing implantable brain–machine
interfaces (BMIs) The long-term goal is to achieve “symbiosis with artificial
intelligence’’ to enhance people critical thinking and brain capacity. The company
is aiming to start experiments with humans in 2020 and treat serious brain diseases
in the short-term, with the eventual goal of human enhancement.
Sleep deprived is one of the cause for unproductive working, to maintain their
freshness and sanity. Technology which using Artificial Intelligence combine
Therapeutic element and energy pod using dynamic temperature regulation,
biometric tracking, smart home integrations and sleep coaching to deliver a total
solution for enhanced rest and recovery.
In the near future, by 2030 AI and technology will enable all sorts of professions to
do their work more efficiently, especially those involving ‘saving life’: individualized
medicine, policing, even warfare using of Ai and robotic in sustainable building
itself can improve work efficiency from Martijn van Otterlo, author of “
Gatekeeping Algorithms with Human Ethical Bias” . The main question is, are the
humans can adapt and evolve together within the globally blomming advance
mechines to increase the productivity in working life or will human be left behind
by new technology which one day can dominating all over the world.

The Story
Everybody in this world need to work to sustain and maintaining their life.
Even to sustaining life, overworking can cause alot of disadvantage to
body health and productivity in maintaining to do the work efficiently.
In this design is to produce a reseach and development( R&D) of
re-inventing new working mode and ways to cater all the unproductive
office workers problem due to overworking. This highrise design programs
will tackle those issues and aim to achieve a feeling content in working life
for office workers.

THINKING PARADOX AND BLUE OCEAN :
Overview for Blue Ocean
CONTRADICTION 1 + CONTRADICTION 2 = THE VALUE INNOVATION
CONTRADICTION 1
Exhaustion of workload
Issues:
-From interview the employee tend not to take
paid leave frequently because of workload at
the office (beacause no one can take over the
job-less man power)
-On lunch hour there a few of employee not go
to lunch and take advantage for nap time
-On weekend there are alot of staff need to
be on “stand-by” on day off especially for
manufacturing and logistic sectors
-Unpermitted vendors near the site due to high
cost of fee
WORKING FOR LIFE -Unwell maintenance of rear side of site and tend
to be service road for shop building at Jalan TAR
OVERWORK -A lot of labor workers laying on perimeter
(INCREASING OF WORKING HOUR) walkway for rest time and improper for vehicles
circulation
-Less communal space for ‘lepak’ and lunch time
+and people tend to go Sogo for lunch
CONTRADICTION 2
FEELING CONTENT
A casual office goes beyond the clothes.
Having a less rigid working environment allows
team members to collaborate more often,
Casual work culture allow the workers to have
flexible working hours. The workers can manage
their time freely.
In addition they can have a worklife balance
and increase their moral and productivity.
Besides, people can do work anywhere they
want, which make them have flexible working

JRAALJAANLAUT Jalan Raja Laut is proposed due to
it’s strategic location which features
governmental buildings and landmarks
that impacts Malaysia’s economics
scene, such as DBKL, Bank Negara
Malaysia, KWSP, Merdeka Square and
many more. Besides that, the location
is surrounded by other office towers
making the site a suitable location for a
highrise project.
In addition, with transecting modes
of transportation within the location,
the permeability rate goes higher thus
promising a higher accessibility rate
making it an ideal site location. Among
the modes of transportation include
public buses, public transits, private
transportation and will continue to
improve by yhe year 2040. Besides that,
The River of Life project will potentially
impact in water transportation within the
city area.

Theories of permeability
Permeability involves two important parameters which could be used for measuring the
permeability of a physical interface. The implied meaning could be obtained through a process
of analogy to the literal meaning of Permeability.

Theories of hypnosis treatment
In this theory, Hypnosis has also been shown to enhance the efficacy and benefits of other thera-
peutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy. Hypnotic interventions are relatively easy
and inexpensive to provide, have a plethora of beneficial “side effects” (such as increased sense of
control over pain and its impact, increased sense of well-being),[1]
Type of hypnosis treatment
1. Focus on the degree of association and dissociation between different mental processes (cogni-
tive monitoring, cognitive control, consciousness, sensory experience)[2]
2. Social cognitive theories focus on the hypnotic context and the subject’s
abilities, attitudes, beliefs, expectancies, attributions, and motivations[3]
3. Biopsychosocial models have proven to be useful in understanding other
complex issues, such as chronic pain, depression, and substance abuse [4].

Sub - theory
Theories of sustainable workplace
In this paper, a “sustainable workplace” is understood as a positive workplace that has a
contribution to improved work-life balance, employees’ well-being, involvement in ethical and
social decision-making, and develops awareness of being a part of the whole (community and
the world); the awareness of the connection with larger whole causes that employees are innate-
ly involved in taking care of other people, an organization, or an environment
Key element in the theory
1.the psychological benefits and the wellbeing of workers
2.how technology integrates and enhances workflow
3.the sustainability of the initial build and ongoing maintenance.
