ALL-AGES PLAYCENTRE

This project proposes an all ages and weather independant playcentre for Christchurch central city. The playcentre aims to add a
vibrant colour to the central city by providing a place for families and people of all ages to have fun and learn through playing. The
design uses modern learning environment spatial system and sensory experiment concepts as one of the key drivers. The project
also intends to deal with urban connections and the subterranean urban drainage system surrounding the chosen site.

MULTI-USE BUILDING

The site is on the corner of Armagh street and Manchester street, Christchurch. Objectives of the
design was to create maximum circulation and relationship with surrounding contexts. Inspired
by the flow of the Avon river, the building is divided into 4 blocks, allows more circulation between
the edges and the central space through the alleys. The central space is dedicated to vertical move-
ment with a round glass elevator and a living design spiral staircase. Along the exterior curved
walls in the alley are planter boxes, also to provide privacy for the residentials. The stainless steel
lattice plays different purposes to each side of the building as well as functions as bracing elements.
The design features 4 retails/ hospitality, 4 offices and 7 appartment.

SOCIAL COASTAL CO-HOUSING VILLAGE

This project was designed by a team of 3 members. The
brief was to design a co-housing village on a potential
site by the beach in New Brighton, Christchurch. To
compliant with the 1.4 m flood management plan for
the area, floor level is raised to 2m so that the space
underneath become multi-functionable. The design
features 20 residential units of different unit sizes to
cater for various needs. The common house was de-
sign to embrace an existing tree. As the site is large
and is separated by 2 roads, each site was designed
with bumping space to attract people to all the areas.
The appearance of the units are not identical however
the whole village are designed with the related forms
and materials so that they speak the same language
and appear as a one picture.

VILLA ON THE HILL

The site is in Lyttelton, a small habour village on the hill, connected to
Christchurch through a tunnel. As a repond to the site contexts and
challenges, the design is spread out into 3 wings to capture more sun
and retain the view to the habour down the hill without breaching the
recession plans. The concept of a group of smaller timber houses also
to help it to blends in with the historical character of Lyttelton.

The design’s concept also focuses on the transition between old
and new.
As part of the high-end residential project, the landscape was also
designed to not only suggest suiltable activities throughout the
site but also to tie in with the design concept.

TOWNHOUSE

Proposed design is a 3 units- townhouse on Dublin street, Christchurch
where the main challenge is the City District Plan.
The design concept is the combination of shapes, forms and materials.
The rooms on each floor are designed to be at different elevation, creating
different layers of privacy and spatial experience.
The design also features internal gardens with openable skylights and private
terrace space for each unit.
