Regular Membership
First-year national dues are pro-rated on a monthly basis, as are the dues for MN, MO, OK, S&, WA, and New England. The chart below presents
the prorated amount based on the month in which you are applying. A chart of state dues accompanies form.

Student Membership
An individual who is on active duty with the military or is a full-time student shall qualify for Student Membership. A full-time student shall be
defined as an individual 25 years old or younger who is currently enrolled full time in a college program, high school, or home school setting.

State Association & Unit Dues
Please tell us if you are also joining an NAP unit in your local area and the name of that unit. Individuals who do not belong to a unit are

HIGHLIGHTED SORORITY INITIATIVES

INTERNATIONAL, REGIONAL AND LOCAL IMPACT VIA SERVICE

SOLES 4 SOULS

Alpha Kappa Alpha partners with Soles 4 Souls to collect 500,00 pairs of gently-worn shoes that are shipped to
destinations around the world populated with people of color as a part of the sorority’s Global Impact target
which focuses on programming designed to enhance its international footprint.

LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL

Chapters will participate in an eyeglass initiative designed to prevent blindness, help restore eyesight, and
improve eye health and eye care for millions of people around the world by donating used eyeglasses in
partnership with local Lions Clubs.

#CAP

Chapters deliver targeted approaches to help students successfully navigate the challenge of applying to colleges
and universities, preparing for the ACT and SAT, writing compelling personal statements, identifying scholarships
and other financial aid and compiling a portfolio to track college admission results.

CARE FOR CAREGIVERS

Places emphasis on taking care of those who take care of others and the need for caregivers to practice
preventive healthcare as well as self-care behavior to eliminate the vulnerabilities and risks associated with
the stress of caregiving.

PILLOWCASE PROJECT

Chapters will continue to use pillowcases to make dresses for little girls and will expand the sorority’s efforts to
include shirts for little boys. The pillowcase dresses and shirts will be sent to Haiti to provide clothing for children
in need.

NUTRITION AND WELLNESS

We will emphasize healthy lifestyles, including prenatal, childhood, adult and senior nutrition programs. Chapters
partner with local nutritionists and dieticians to design healthy eating plans and safe diets for longer, healthier
living.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Alpha Kappa Alpha chapters in the North Atlantic Region have contributed millions of dollars in scholarships to
deserving college bound students and specifically support a myriad of Historically Black College and Universities
(HBCU’s) across the U.S.

The North Atlantic Region’s Awards Committee invites members from each chapter to serve as judges
for the 2020 awards process. Please list the names of the sorors (maximum five) from your chapter
who would be interested in serving as judges.

The awards judging will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Newark Boys Chorus School 1016
Broad St, Newark, NJ 07102 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Refreshments/lunch will be served. Judges are
requested to arrive by 8:30 am. Judging will begin at 9:00 am. (Please be prepared to stay until 5:00
pm.).

Diamond Diva, Golden Gem & Silver Star Luncheon

Dear Notable North Atlantic Region Chapter Basilei and Sorors:

The Notable North Atlantic Regional Director, Soror Mary Bentley LaMar, and Cluster V Sorors
cordially invite you to join us in honoring our Diamond Divas, Golden Gems, and Silver Star Sorors
initiated in 1945, 1970, and 1995, respectively, at the 89th North Atlantic Regional Conference in
Hartford, Connecticut.

The DGS Luncheon Committee is setting the stage, prepping the runway, and preparing to shine the
spotlight on our Dominant DIAMONDS, Glissando GOLDENS, and Sharp SILVERS, as they create a

Three Heart Harmony during their celebratory luncheon on Friday - March 6, 2020, at 12:00 p.m.
at the Connecticut Convention Center. The seating arrangements for this fabulous event will be
assigned by Cluster.

As this event is open to the public, Honorees are encouraged to invite family and friends to sing their
praises on this momentous occasion. Tickets for guests must be purchased at the time of
registration for NARC 2020.

All First-Time Diamond Divas (initiated 1945), Golden Gems (initiated 1970), and Silver Stars (initiated 1995) must:

previous Regional Conference or Boule

Ivy Beyond The Wall

“Remembering our Pearls”

The Ivy Beyond The Wall Ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020. The purpose of the
ceremony is to honor Sorors within the North Atlantic Region who have become Ivies Beyond
the Wall since the 2019 North Atlantic Regional Conference. This ritual is a lasting tribute to
our beloved Sorors and has always been one of reverence and dignity. Only Sorors may
participate.
Only Chapter Basilei and Cluster Coordinators may submit names to be recognized during the
Ivy Beyond The Wall Ceremony. If the deceased Soror is not affiliated with the chapter, her
information must be verified and submitted to the Ivy Beyond The Wall Committee by a North
Atlantic Region Chapter Basileus. Basilei must submit names here:
https://form.jotform.com/93206313669156. The committee will only receive names via this
electronic form.
Information must be submitted no later than February 3, 2020, for the names to be included in
the Ivy Beyond The Wall Program at the 2020 North Atlantic Regional Conference.
Sorors must wear appropriate ritual attire of uninterrupted white suit or dress (no
embellishments or adornments), white or flesh-toned hosiery, and white shoes. Pumps, flats,
mules and peep-toe shoes are acceptable. Please note that hats, sleeveless dresses or tops,
pants/pants suits, sandals and flip flops are not allowed.
Graduate Advisors are asked to review the dress code for this occasion with their
undergraduate Sorors.
