The Story of Me

I was born in Torrance Memorial on April 14,2005. When I was
born, my mom had a C-section and my due date was May 10,
2005. I am the first born in my family. When I came home from
the hospital my grandparents and my aunt went over to see me.
That is my birth story.

When I graduated from Kindergarten, I had a big party
and we had dressed in outfits that college graduates would
wear. When we were at the party all the students danced
and singed, sometimes with parents. It shaped me because
it showed me that my accomplishments matter and that
what I do in the future can affect a lot of people.

Event #2

When my great grandpa died, my family was really sad
but I was a kid. I didn’t really understand death. After I
went to his funeral and I was at home was when I
started to understand. It shaped me because I realized
how precious life is.

Event #3

On the second to last day of 5th grade, I was about to
graduate. I was selected to be the announcer for all the 5th
grade classes.
I was in line with all my friends. When we went inside the
Gym I starting getting nervous. After the classes sang a
song, I had to go up to the podium and introduce all the
other 5th graders who wrote a speech. While I heard my
peers talk, I thought about how special my friends were
and it shaped who I was after that.

About the Author

Nicholas Acosta is 13 years old and was born in Torrance
Memorial on April 14, 2005. He has 2 younger sisters. He
lives with his sisters, mother, grandfather, and
grandmother. Nicholas lives in Carson and goes to school
at Stephen M White Middle School. He is also in the S.A.S.
or School of Advanced Studies. He used to go to Carson
Street Elementary School. Nicholas is Christian and goes to
church at Mission Ebenezer Family Church.
