Academic Section

In the academic year 2017, six undergraduate programs were established. The number of students in Medical
Technology, Physical Therapy, Sports and Exercise Science, Sports Management, Sports Coaching, Radiological Technology
and the new curriculum, Radiological Technology are 237, 200, 112, 676, 339 and 40 respectively
In currently, there are 5 curriculums of graduate programs including four Master programs in Biomedical
Sciences, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Forensic Sciences and one Philosophy program in Biomedical Sciences.
The number of students is 17, 61, 14, 35 and 20 respectively. Master and Philosophy programs in Sports Management
are planned to establish in 2018.
For all curriculums, we implemented the self learning skill and English language skill for improvement our
students in economic challengers.

Grants and Funding
In the fiscal year 2017, a number of research projects from several departments of the faculty including
Department of Medical Technology, Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Sports Science and Sports Devel-
opment, and Graduate Programs have been successfully secured grant funding from several funding agencies from both
university and nation levels.
• Annual Government Statement of Expenditure: 17 research projects accounting for total of 17,584,400 Baht
• Integrated Research Fund: 1 project (3,245,200 Baht)
• Thammasat University: 28 research projects accounting for total of 3,462,243 Baht
- General research: 12 projects (2,491,243 Baht)
- Innovation development: 1 projects (400,000 Baht)
- Graduate student: 15 projects (571,000 Baht)
• Faculty of Allied Health Sciences: 14 research projects accounting for total of 1,444,200 Baht

Research and international Affairs Section

According to the university’s policy as ‘Research University’, one of the main policies of the Faculty of Allied
Health Sciences is promoting and facilitating all research activities. The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences has been
one of the leading faculties of the university in terms of research achievements both research funding and research
publications and citations.
The two research committees, 1) research ethics committee and 2) research support committee, have played
important role in supporting and facilitating research activities throughout the year. The key function of the research
ethics committee is function to ensure that all research activities in the faculty would be done according to ethical
requirement. Functions of the research support committee including support all research activities. The committee is
also responsible for developing research policy and also sub-projects aiming to assist and facilitate research activities
in the faculty. There have been a number of sub-projects developed during the past years including: several research
funding (for example, group research projects, young researcher projects, general research projects); research clinic (pro-
viding advice and mentors for proposal development, statistical analyses, and English manuscript development). Both
committees and the faculty’s research policy have been developed with the aim to promote the faculty to be one of
the top faculties of the university and to be one of the leading institute in terms of academic and research in the region
as well as to ensure that our research findings could be beneficial for communities nationally and internationally.
Activities
1. “Bio-medical waste management and disposal” Woskshop, a
regular workshop organized annually by the faculty’s research
support committee, was conducted on the 8th August, this year.

2. Several faculties have been awarded in the event, Research Day, hosted annually by Thammasat University on the
7 February 2017 at Bangkok.

Student Affairs Section

Since The Student Affairs Section has been established, the main activities that we focus on are to promote
our students in order to participate in. For academic activities, there are seminars and activities to improve student
academic educate in the PDCA principle applied in the annual event. For art and cultural conservation, there are the
consecration candles on the eve of Buddhist Lent Day and The Teacher Day Observation. In addition, our students had
the opportunity to volunteer in local communities nearby the University for involving academic service. These activities
are emphasized because The Student Affairs Section realizes that learning cannot be confined to the classroom but it
requires engagement through a multiplicity of activities. Therefore, there are the great opportunities for our students so
as to improve their life skills and realize their social responsibilities.
In the past year, students build a reputation and pride for Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Thammasat
University. In 20th Sea Game at Kualalumpur 2017, Mr.Suttisak Singkhon, He won gold medal from Football. Mr. Jirayu
Pleenaram He won gold medal from 4 x 100 metres relay. Mr.Muhammad Osamanmusa, He won gold medal from
Futsal. Mr. Suttisak Singkon , He won the god medal from decathlon. Ms. Nattakan Chantam, She won the god medal
from cricket. Ms. Manuschaya Zeemakorn, She won the god medal from golf female team. Mr. Pongporn Suvittayarak, He
won the gold medal from taekwondo poomse. Ms. Supira Klunbut, She won the Silver medal from golf female team.
Mr.Teerapat siriboon and Ms. Supincha Buranapol, They won the Bronze medal from mixed team diving. Mr. Pongporn
Suvittayarak, He won the gold medal from taekwondo poomse in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games at Turkmenistan
Mr.Suttisak Singkon, He won the god medal from decathlon in Asian Athletics Championships 2017 at Bhubaneswar, Indonesia

Health Care Service Center (HCSC)

The Healthcare service center officially launched in 2013, in order to serve our patient with a full-range of medical
services. The center provides medical based service, laboratory testing, alongside with medical consultation. Our primary
field of work consists of providing corporations with medical check-up services, especially in the field of check-up for
factories, and state enterprise employees. The center also provides consultation in the field of Physical Therapy with
service for patient by physical therapy and hydrotherapy program and opening up special clinic for cardio pulmonary
rehabilitation, movement disorder rehabilitation and sport rehabilitation in post operative. In the field of sports science,
by opening up a fitness and recovery center for direct care and management of altheletes physical fitness.

During the past over one year, the Medical Technology Research and Service unit has serviced for 11 factories,
University and High schools such as employees of Siam Sanitary Ware Industry Co., Ltd. (COTTO), CPF Saraburi, Profes-
sional waste technology(1999) public Co.,Ltd., Toshiba Carrier (Thailand) Co., Ltd, TTC Motor Co., Ltd., MO Cap company,
DP Survey & Law Co.,Ltd., Nutrichems Co., Ltd. , Danieli Co., Ltd, Ampacet (Thailand) Co. Ltd., students of Faculty of
Nursing, Thammasat University and elementary schools in metropolitan areas.
The center was recently opened. We are trying to build a customer base in Thailand and ready to develop
standard services to keep Thai’s people healthy.

Physical therapy and hydrotherapy unit

In the past year, Physical therapy and hydrotherapy Unit has been operating services including in-
side and outside clinic. The main services are the physical treatment and health knowledge service class
for the private sector such as Furugawa (FB) company. According to the cooperation between the physical
therapy and hydrotherapy unit and department of physical therapy. We has evaluated the risk of injuries
from work, ergonomics class for officers and workers. In addition, physical therapy and hydrotherapy unit also
opening up for clinical practice unit to promote physical therapy students skill and clinical experiences too.

Sports Science and Sports Rehabilitation Unit

During the year 2017, Sports Science and Sports Rehabilitation Unit offer services for a student, staffs and out-
sider person. First, physical training program and fitness testing to sport and health. Second, physical therapy services
for an athlete and the last, consulting in the field of sports science such as the sports psychology sports nutrition and
biomechanics in sports. Another function, we support in part of Sports Science and Sports Development Department
for the class that has exercise practicum and the project to prepare a student to be a fitness instructor.

Department of Medical Technology

The administrative management of the Department of Medical Technology has been complied with a team work of
all levels of staff for a high quality of teaching and research. The Department of Medical Technology has built up the
most favorable teaching and research outcomes in 2017 as follow:
Academic
The Department of Medical Technology has appointed curriculum administrator committee to oversee the
management of undergraduate program in Medical Technology with a vision to produce high caliber graduates in medical
technology. The success and quality of administration are monitored by the Office of Higher Education Commission. The
Department of Medical Technology has been accredited by the Council of Medical Technology for a period of 5 years
(academic year 2017-2021). The extra-curriculum activities of undergraduate students have been done.These included the
Chulalongkorn-Thammasat University Medical Technology Student Research Conference and the Diamond Nurturing
Project. (program of promoting professional attitude).
1.1 Student enrollment
There are 231 students enrolled in the Medical Technology undergraduate program in 2017 with the higher
number of the enrolled students taken up from the direct admission program and the Central University Admission
System.
1.2 Academic promotion
Throughout a hard working year, several academic staff have been promoted to a higher level of
academic position. These include 3 lecturers appointed to assistant professor (Dr. Kaimuk Changsri, Dr. Narisa Kengtrong
Bordeerat, and Dr Dujdaw Songthamwat) and one assistant professors appointed to associated professor (Dr. Pilaiwan
Siripurkpong).

Research
The Department of Medical Technology has supported academic staffs to pursue research in accordance with
national research strategic plan. Our research theme aims to create potential outcomes in innovative and application.
2.1 Research grants
In 2016, the department received 6,328,900 THB research grants from Thammasat University and The Faculty
of Allied Health Sciences (11 principle investigators).
2.2 Publications
There were 19 publications; 10 published in international and 9 published in national peer review journals.
2.3 Citation
Our research publications have been cited 35 times during 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2016.
2.4 Research awards
2.4.1 Dr. Somsak Fongsupa has won the “Outstanding Poster Award” at the 40th annual Conference of
Medical Technologists of Thailand (ACMTT) 2016, 1-3 June 2016, Chonburi, Thailand.
2.4.2 Assist. Prof. Dr. Pornpimon Angkasekwinai has been awarded the AAI Travel Grant to attend the
International Congress of Immunology 2016 (ICI 2016), 21-26 August 2016, Melbourne, Australia.
2.4.3 Lecturer Nathamon Niyomdecha has received the “Young Researcher Award of the Faculty of
Allied Health Sciences 2016”.
Academic social service
The Department of Medical Technology continuously provide academic senrdvices to promote health in Thai
societies. We have integrated the services to our curriculum activities through the 2 Community Medical Technology
project, aiming to improve health among Buddhist monks. In addition, we have organized the EQA-Gold Standard in
Hematology, a profit-making project for self-reliance since 2011. Additionally, the Department also provides a HLA diag-
nosis service for clinical laboratories.

Additional activities
The Department of Medical Technology has co-organized
the conference workshop on Asian Institute in Statistical Genetics
and Genomics (1st Asian workshop) and the 2017 Thammasat Smart
City Open House.

Student activities

The department held several activitiesnincluding the big-cleaning day project, aiming to promoteteamwork among staff
and students, the orientations to prepare promptness of students for higher years of the program and the advisor-meeting week.
These activities help relief student’s anxieties from difficulties in adjusting to the university life. This year, Mr. Thawit Thianmas, a
graduate in Medical Technology program, received the honorable morality and ethics award from the Professor Vikul Veeranuwat
Medical Technology Foundation and Mr. Thitipan Jongchotchutchawan, Medical Technology student, also earned the award for
good behavior from Thammasat University.

Department of Physical Therapy

Academic services
Department of Physical Therapy offers a Bachelor of Science program in physical therapy. The program
concentrates on developing prospective physical therapists to provide health services to the public by promoting
health awareness, applying preventive care, performing physical therapy treatment and rehabilitation. The program
strives to produce physical therapists that are well-equipped with both academic and practical knowledge along with
moral development to be able to perform their practice at both national and international levels. We have produced
50-60 physical therapy graduates each year with a 4-year course bachelor degree. The program provides students
with the knowledge and skills essential for physical therapy practice. Graduates will be able to work in hospitals,
rehabilitation centers, community settings, child care centers, as well as sports teams. In 4 years, students will gain
experience in physical therapy in the following areas: Musculoskeletal system, Neurological system, Pediatrics, Cardiorespiratory
system, Sports physical therapy, Ageing. Besides, department of Physical Therapy also offers a Master of Science program
in physical therapy for graduate level education starting from 2016.
Research
Department of Physical Therapy encourages and supports faculty, staff, and physical therapists for
performing research works. In 2017, the department publishes 7 international journal papers and 10 national journal papers.
Furthermore, we are in the process of filing applications for 5 patents and petty patents. There are also 10 research
projects with the grant totally more than 6 million baht being conducted throughout the department.

Service Center and Academic Outreach
Health Care Service Center, a unit within the De-
partment of Physical Therapy, serves the public, physical
therapy students, and academic staff with physical therapy
and hydrotherapy treatment. In 2017, the center establishes
additional clinical and rehabilitation treatment for patients
with special conditions, including cardiovascular and respi-
ratory system, movement disorder and sports injury. For
academic outreach, the center also promotes public health
in the community through activities such as the assessments
of physical fitness, disseminating the knowledge of ergonom-
ics for industrial workers and through organizational health
promoting projects such as the project cooperating with
Rangsit City Municipality.
Art and Culture Conservation
The department organizes extracurricular activities
in 2016 to encourage the staff and students to participate
in art and cultural projects through proposal development.
The projects aim to preserve the Thai cultural heritage as
well as promoting a harmony educational atmosphere among
faculty, staff, and students.

Student activities
Our students had joined with other organizations through many projects in order to promote their Physical Ther-
apy role with the following characteristics: knowledgeable upon academic and clinical skills, able to integrate knowledge
in clinical decision making, leadership, good manner, professional awareness, creative and able to use technologies.
Rewards
In 2017, our staffs received the following invention awards.
-Both of our staffs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kornanong Yuenyongchaiwat and Ajan Khajonsak Pongpanit got the Gold Prize from
Soul International invention Fair, South of Korea.
-The TU gait trainer” by our staff, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patcharee Kooncumchoo and Asst. Prof. Dr. Bunyong
Rungroungdouyboon from the Faculty of Engineering. won the Bronze medal at the 45th International Exhibition of
Inventions of Geneva.
- Our graduate student and students from the Faculty of Engineering got the Gold Award Design Category for the Disability
and Technology Category from the I-CREATe 2017 Inventory Competition, Kobe. Japan.

Sports Science and Sports Development

Introduction
In 2017, the department of sports science and sports development has been developing consecutively in
academics, researches, social services and activities. These are conducted for contributing to high quality of programs
including Bachelor of Science (Sports and Exercise Sciences), Bachelor of Art (Sport Management) and Bachelor of Art
(Sport Coaching).
Academic
In academic area, we have continued making progress of educational processes in order to enhance quality
of learning and career opportunities. The department of sports science and sports development has participated in
establishing of sport scientist professional qualification. Some of our staffs were appointed to be committees of sport
scientist professional qualification, therefore we will be able to create operational plan to prepare our student for the
professional qualification’s examination. Furthermore, there was a exchanging program with Suwon University, The
Republic of South Korea that our students could learn and exchange knowledge and cultural with foreigner students.
In addition, we created Memorandum of Understanding with many kinds of sport associations such as The Tennis and
Athletic Association of Thailand. These collaborations can take advantage on improving knowledge, research and social
service for our staffs and students.
Research
Our department has produced more nation-leading and international research with grants supported from the
university, the government and sport organizations. According to our policy, is to improve the impact of research on
society or industry; to facilitate research publication, citation and award achievement. In addition, the department has
also facilitated our staffs with research environment and research opportunities.

Academic social service
have paid attention on serving academic service to the community nearby Thammasat University. Firstly, Sports
and fitness promotion project at Romklao community, we offered the fitness assessment and exercise suggestions for
health. Next, Community safety project for water rescue and how to exercise correctly at Thaklong community. We also
promoted Thai sports and traditional games and health problem-solving project at Thammasat Klong Luang Wittayakom
School. Moreover, ‘Thammasat Golf Leadership Programs’ has been operating for 3 years so as to respond executives
of several organizations whether public or private. Finally, the Unit of Sports Science and Sports Rehabilitation has been
established for 2 years in order to provide health services to Thammasat University staffs.
Art and Cultural preservation
There were numbers of organized activities and projects to promote culture. The Songkran Festival and The
teachers’ day observation are projects that preserve memorable of Thai culture. Thai Sports Project is a project that
creates a relationship between students by using Thai traditional games and Thai sports.
Student Activity
We organized activities and projects to promote knowledge of students in Academic, Social Services, Sports
activities, Humanities creation and Respect for democracy in the form of integration with teaching and student activities
to create value for students, lecturers and staffs. There were several projects that have been implemented as follows:
Thammasat Psychology Development, 18th Sport science “Dan-dome games”, TU Open House, “Enk-ma-Kha-dee-jai”
project. The all mentioned projects were organized and managed by our students. These can help them apply their
knowledge for using in a real situation or find the solution to solve unexpected problems and also to make students
realize the important of sport science profession which will be the preparation of good graduate.

Reward
We are encouraged development of human resource contin-
uously. The 2017 can be seen as the successful year because
we have accomplished our objective developing quality of
academic and elite sport areas. Firstly, our lecturer; Miss. Suda-
rat Apibantawesakul, has achieved academic rank as ‘Assistant
Professor’. Secondly, elite sport successes with Thai national
athletes; Mr. Pongsaporn Suwithayaruk (Sports Management
Program) achieved the gold medal of Taekwondo Poomsae in
the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017 atTurkmeni-
stan. Furthermore, Mr. Suthisak Singkorn (Sports Management
Program) got the winner in 22nd Asian Athletics Championship
2017 at Bhubaneswar, India. In addition, there are many our
student competing and succeeding in 29th SEA Games 2017.
Some of the achievements are Mr. Suriya Singmui (Gold med-
al, Football), Mr.Jirayu Prinarum (Gold medal, Athletics) and
Muhammad Osamanmusa (Gold medal, Futsal).

Radiological Technology

Introduction
Department of Radiological Technology offers a Bachelor degree in Radiological Technology. The program of
radiological technology aims to produce radiological technologists with professional skills in the area of Radiological
Diagnosis, Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine. Besides academic knowledge, moral awareness will be integrated into
courses to ensure that the graduates will earn the degree with concern about ethics, which is very crucial for working
in the public health system.
In academic year 2017, the program gained massive interests from perspective students and maximum of 40
study positions were filled. Moreover, the program has coordinated with Thammasat University hospital and Thonburi
Healthcare Group Public Company Limited to provide the most practical circumstances at which the students will have
chances to develop all essential skills in clinical settings.
Academic
Department of radiological technology has assessed the
program on February 22-23, 2017 and has officially certified by
radiological technology professional committee on March 10, 2017.
All lecturers has attended radiological technology
consortium on June 8-9, 2017 at Chulalongkorn University in order
to improve radiological technology education in Thailand.
We have expanded facility which is the five stations of
picture archiving and communication system (PACS) from the private
companies. Therefore, students can acquire knowledge and skills in
medical imaging technology. Moreover, x-ray machine has passed
the assessment from Department of Medical Sciences and Office
of Atoms for Peace so that user can be assured that the machine
is safe and reliable.

Research
In 2017, the department published 2 invention patents, 1 international abstract and 1 national
journal paper.
Research award
Lecturer Chatnapa Nuntue has received the “research publication scholarship of Thammasat University
Thammasat University 2017”.
Academic social service
“Workshop How to prepare an e-learning professional course”. TU RTMI e-learning and Training center,
Faculty of Allied Health Sciences in cooperation with the Information and Communication Technology has occurred
on June 12-16 and August 7-11, 2017. Also, Assoc.Prof Pichit Trivitayaratana have provided e-Learning workshop with
the Institute for continuing Education and Human Resources for external staff during May 22-26, September 25-29 and
December 18-22, 2017.

Art and cultural preservation
The 1st year students attended Wai Khru ceremony to pay
respects to their teachers in order to express their gratitude and
formalize the student–teacher relationship on September 14, 2017.
Student activities
First-generation students attended the orientation day that
provide academic advisor to discuss about the course schedule,
make students be ready for the semester and prepare for living on
campus. Moreover, parents and families were also encouraged to
attend in order to provide more information about department with
lecturer and staff.
AHS open house 2017, our students joined activities in
the department laboratory in order to know overall of studying
about radiological technology. Moreover, RT students have joined
activities about faculty cheerleader and faculty ambassador in the
5th gymnasium, Thammasat University, Rangsit campus.

Additional activities
SSeptember 1, 2017, MOU between Faculty of Allied Health
Science and Ministry of Public Health has been signed at the
office of permanent secretary in order to develop manpower
in radiological technologist in Thailand because of a shortage
of this profession in the moment.

Master of science program in Forensic science

Academic
In 2015, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Thammasat University (TU) has established the program in forensic
science offering master’s degree (forensic science). The program aims to produce forensic scientists with professional
skills and ethics to support the use of forensic science in juridical procedures.
The program contains a range of essential courses including lectures, seminars, laboratory practices and visits at
professional organizations in forensic science such as Central Institute of Forensic Science, Institute of Forensic Medicine
and Scientific Crime Detection Center 1.
The program has built specialized laboratories in forensic science and set up an apartment model for crime
scene investigation. For academic strength, TU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Office of Police
Forensic Science and the Royal Police Cadet Academy (RPCA). The agreement is to exchange knowledge and technol-
ogies with an ultimate goal to produce qualified post-graduates and research in the field.
Due to approximately 30 students accumulated from academic year 2015 to 2016, the program has skipped
enrolling students in academic year 2017 allowing time to effectively guide the current students to graduate within time
period. In addition, the program is preparing academic content and supporting facilities to welcome new students in
academic year 2018.

Crime scene investigation
The first-year students observed crime scene investigation conducted by professional crime scene
investigators at the apartment model, 6 floor of Piyachart building. This event was a topic of the course FSS645 Laboratory
techniques in forensic science.

The first-year students gained knowledge of firearms and ammunition identification at Scientific Crime
Detection Center 1 where some of them had an opportunity to try shooting.

Academic
Three course syllabi administrated under Graduate Program underwent regular revision and updating
according to the common requirement of Commission of Higher Education, Thailand (CHE) which were Doctor of Philosophy
Program in Biomedical Sciences (International Program), Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences (International
Program) and Master of Medical Technology Program
Graduate Program organized the 9th and 10th Faculty of Allied Health Sciences Graduate Research Progress
Presentations at Room 252, Piyachart Building, Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus) on December 17-18, 2016 and at
Classic Cameo Hotel, Ayutthaya Province, July 8-9, 2017, respectively. The aims of the events were to share the research
experience, and to build up the productive scientific attitude between instructors and postgraduate candidates.
All syllabi were successfully underwent annually internal auditing for academic quality assurances e.g. Doctor
of Philosophy Program in Biomedical Sciences and Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences (International
Program) on August 9, 2017, Master of Medical Technology on August 1, 2017 and Master of Physical Therapy Programs
on August 10, 2017.
Master of Physical Therapy have collaborating with staff at the Faculty of Engineering in terms of technology
and innovation for people with disabilities.
