YOGA – A FUN WAY
TO REMAIN ACTIVE
Priya Razvi
Hello kids! How about some enjoyable activity that can make you
energetic and strong?
Do you know what yoga is?
Yoga exercise is all about different physical, mental and spiritual
practices that calms you down and brings peace of mind.
Although, the practice of yoga dates back to over 5000 years, it
is still popular worldwide. What makes yoga interesting is that it is
not just for adults, it is equally effective for kids too. All you need is
a simple mat, (an old mattress can also work) and relaxing music.
Why should you do yoga?
There are many benefits of doing yoga. It increases your flexibility,
relaxes your body and makes you concentrate on things in a better
way. By doing yoga regularly, you can learn to balance things too.
Yoga is as easy as stretching like a dog, balancing like a flamingo,
breathing like a bunny, or standing strong and tall like a tree. By
practicing various poses, you can actually feel the strength inside
your body.
So, what are you waiting for? Start yoga from today and practice
this one basic pose.
1. Sit upright with legs crossed.
2. Rest the hands on the knees with the palms facing up.
3. Keep the head, neck, and spine straight.
4. The feet and thighs should be relaxed.
5. Retain this posture for a minute.

Dear Diary
Dear Diary
Dear Diary,
“Why do I have to go to bed earlier than Ammi?”
Sent by Amna Nadeem, Sialkot, Pakistan
Dear Amna,
It is important for you to sleep early because your body is still growing.
Growing bodies need more time to heal and grow compared to adult bodies.
If you sleep well, almost ten hours, you will feel energetic and refreshed in the
morning to study and play better. Make sure you sleep early so that you can
grow strong and smart.
Dear Diary,
“Why do I have to wash my hands before I eat anything?”
Sent by Ahmad Siddiqui, Hyderabad, Pakistan
Dear Ahmad,
Washing your hands before eating a meal is a simple and effective way to
prevent infection. When you eat without washing your hands, the germs that
are left on your fingers and palms can be transferred to the inside of your mouth.
This can make you sick.
Ever wondered why your milk teeth broke or why your Ammi makes
you drink milk everyday even though you don’t like it? Send us all your
questions, concerns and queries at [email protected] and get your
