FROM THE PRinciPal’s PEn ………………

In the words of Oscar Wilde, “The aim of
life is self-development to realize one’s
nature perfectly.” Over the years, first as a
teacher and then as a Principal, I have
realized that if the fertile soil of the mind is
enriched with the values of love, Kindness
and Patience the saplings of good education
and character will grow into strong trees
and bear good fruits.

“The aim of education should be to teach the
child to think, not what to think.” This has
been the endeavour of Kendriya Vidyalaya
ONGC Baroda. Along with touching the
zenith of academic excellence our earnest
endeavours are to help our children fill their
life with the light of positivity.

The Class-XI E-magazine is to be viewed as
a launch pad for the children’s creative urges
to blossom naturally. The enthusiastic write
ups of our young writers are indubitably
sufficient to hold the interest and admiration
of the readers. This Class E-magazine is

indeed a pious attempt to make our budding
talents give shape to their creativity and learn
the art of being aware because I believe that
success depends upon our power to perceive,
the power to observe and the power to
explore. We are sure that the positive attitude,
hard work, sustained efforts and innovative
ideas exhibited by our young buddies will
surely stir the mind of the readers and take
them to the surreal world of unalloyed joy
and pleasure.

I applaud the hard work of all those who have
directly or indirectly contributed for bringing
out this Class E-Magazine.

With best wishes………...

From the Subject Teacher’s Desk
……………………….

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon
my imagination. Imagination is more
important than knowledge. Knowledge is
limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

― Albert Einstein

We live today in a world that is so very
different from the one we grew up in, theone
we were educated in. The world today is
changing at such an accelerated rate and we
as educators need to pause and reflect on this
entire system of Education. As the saying
goes, “mind like parachute works best when
opened.” This humble initiative is to set the
budding minds free allowing them to roam
free in the realm of imagination and
experience to create a world of beauty in
words.

It gives me immense pleasure to announce
that Class-XI is bringing out its Class
magazine-2020. You hold in your hands a
body of work that’s straight from heart:
poems, thoughts, musings, paintings and
sketches that have been created painstakingly

by young minds. It is as Wordsworth called
it, “a spontaneous overflow of powerful
feelings”

So, this Class E-magazine
is a reflection of talent, a storehouse of
creativity. But more than that, it is a message
of hope; ‘that if we are able to groom such
sensitive youngsters today, the world will
surely become a better place to live in’.
This herculean task of designing & giving
shape to this Class E-magazine would not
have been possible without the sincere
support of the members of the Editorial
Board, other Sections of the magazine and all
the students of class XI who enthusiastically
contributed for the Class E- Magazine-2020.

We hope you will enjoy
reading it as much as we enjoyed bringing it
together!

Have a happy reading ……………….

Science facts

AMAZING FACTS ON PHYSICS THAT WILL
BLOW UP YOUR MIND!!!!!

1)Time goes faster at the top of the building than at the
bottom.

According to Einstein’s theory of Relativity, the farther an object is from
the Earth’s surface, the faster time passes.

2

2) You can’t sink in the Dead Sea.

The Dead Sea has a very high density because of its salt content,
which would make it impossible for you to sink.
3) Dead people float because of gasses.

When a person drowns, their lungs fill with water, which makes
them sink. They float back up because the human body releases
gas when it dies – making them lighter than the water.

3

4) Have you ever wondered how touching your phone’s screen can
make things happen?

A typical smartphone would not detect touches from fingernails,
rubber, or certain fabrics because they lack the ions needed for the
interaction.
When you press a resistive touchscreen, you push two conducting
layers together so they make contact, a bit like an ordinary computer
keyboard.
In a capacitive touchscreen, the whole screen is like a capacitor.

4

5) Space is restless.

I think we’ve all established space is pretty weird, but this is one
of the weirder physics facts: particles are constantly popping in
and out of existence in space.

6)If you travel faster than the speed of light, you’ll age less.

If you go to outer space and travel at the speed of light, you could
come back to Earth to find a few days have already passed.

5

7) Did you know that the entire human race could be
condensed into something the size of an ordinary sugar
cube?

We are all made up of atoms: protons, electrons and neutrons... and
a whole bunch of empty space between them.
If we were to remove that space in every human body, all of
humanity would be as large as a cube of sugar, but it would be
incredibly heavy because it would be extremely dense!
That means that the theory behind the exploration of the quantum
realm in Ant-Man and the Wasp is valid but the visuals aren’t:
shrunken cars, buildings and people would be too heavy to pick up
with just one hand.

6

8) Time travel is possible – you’re doing it now, moving forward
in time.

9) What happens when a black hole swallows a star?

As the star gets sucked up into the black hole, a huge jet of plasma
is burped out, "When the star is ripped apart by the gravitational
forces of the black hole, some part of the star's remains falls into
the black hole, while the rest is ejected at high speeds.

7

10) Lasers can get trapped in a waterfall.

Oh my gosh, yes. Not only is this an incredible example of total
internal reflection, it also shows how fibre optic cables work to
guide the flow of light.

CHEMISTRY FACTS

1) Lightning strikes produce Ozone, hence
there is the characteristic smell after lightning
storms.

2) The only two non-silvery metals are Gold and Copper.

9

3) Glass is actually liquid but it flows very, very, very
slowly.

4) Every hydrogen atom in our body is about more than
10 million years old because they were formed at the
birth of universe.

10

5)If you pour a handful of salt in a glass of water, the
water level will go down.

6) Diamond and Graphite are made up of only and only
carbon and nothing else

11

7) The rarest and naturally-occurring element in the earth’s
crust is the Astatine.

8) DNA is flame retardant.

12

9) A rubber tyre is technically one single, giant
polymerized molecule.

10) Goldfish eyes perceive the visible spectrum, infrared,
as well as ultraviolet light.

BIOLOGICAL FACTS

1) Eating dark chocolate every day and by maintaining a

balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of
heart disease by one-third.

2) The brain can absorb around 0.025 kilowatts of energy

which is enough to illuminate a standard electric light
bulb.

14

3) Inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth

disturbs the level of oxygen and carbon - dioxide balance in
our lungs.

4) Algae are highly rich vitamins and minerals and are an

important source of food in different parts of Asia.

15

5) A new born baby has only one cup of blood whereas the

healthy adult has about 1.5 to 1.6 gallons of blood circulating
inside the body.

6) One of the fastest muscles in the human body is the eye-

hence the expression “IN BLINK OF EYE”.
