EDITORIAL

As Lenin famously quoted, “there are decades where nothing happens and
there are weeks where decades happen”

Year 2020 has been a rollercoaster ride for all of us, despite all the challenges,
obstacles& hardships, that this Covid-19 pandemic has posed to all of us and
forced us to adopt the NEW NORMAL: lockdowns, night curfews, shutting
down schools and colleges and all public places , resorting to online teaching,
work from home culture, wearing masks and carrying sanitizers”, the will to
survive made us to face the situation with courage and determination.

I can proudly admit that our teachers, students and school administration have
easily adapted themselves to the change and lived up to the need of the hour.
We have successfully completed the academic session 2020-21 and tried our
level best to perform all the curricular and co-curricular activities of the normal
school while teaching through virtual mode. It has really been a challenge for
the teachers and the students to learn new modes, techniques and methods of
online teachings

Our students have spent their free time during lockdown creatively by learning
new skills and by expressing themselves creatively through drawings, poems,
stories, expressions etc. This E- Magazine 2020-21 is a humble endeavour to
showcase the talent and creativity of the students.

My thanks are due to the principal, editorial board, students and teachers to
have been of immense help in breathing life into these pages. I hope that you
will enjoy reading it as I enjoyed putting it together. Have a happy reading.

Best Wishes ………..

ACADEMIC REPORTS

REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED IN ENGLISH SESSION (2020-21)

No one would have guessed that a virus-like Covid-19 would come and without
differentiating, it will alter the lifestyle of people. Due to Covid-19, many changes came
to our world and it took some time for everyone to adopt the new normal. The Covid-19
impact was everywhere, which resulted in the closure of Schools and other educational
institutions.

Alternative methods of teaching evolved and were adopted quickly by most
schools, technology paved the way for education, thus helping the students and teachers to
connect virtually through online classrooms, webinars, digital exams, and so on.

Teachers who are all experts in Blackboard, Chalk, books, and classroom teaching are
really new to this digital teaching, but they have adopted the new methods and are
handling it like a professional to aid the students in the current situation.

It has really been a learning experience for me making integrated worksheets with audio,
video files and google form links to making videos of the chapter with voice over for a
better understanding and sending them through WhatsApp groups. And then came the
Paradigm shift from offline to online mode of teaching through Google Meet. Attending
Webinars about the Digital Tools and Techniques and learning by watching YouTube
videos to know more about Google Meet, Google Classroom and Assessment tools like
Google form.

Today each and every teacher is taking online classes like an expert, this may be called a
blessing in disguise that we, teachers were forced to update our knowledge and learn new
things.

Teaching English in classes VI, XI & XII has been an enriching Experience for me, the
students proved to be more tech savvy and adopted the New Normal quickly.

Class VII students created many videos of skits on burning issues, taken quizzes on
different topics, recorded story telling with props etc.

Class-XI is a multi-talented class, they have participated in many debates and speech
competitions, published Class e-magazine for session 2020-21 as a class project.

K.V.NO-4, ONGC VADODARA E-MAGAZINE-2020-21

Class-XII have Prepared and participated in weekly Quiz Competition, and participated in
many group activities during English Activity periods like. Talk shows, interviews, skits,
Webinars etc. They have also successfully organized teachers’ Day programme.

On the whole it was a rich learning experience for teachers as well as students
Everything is happening for the well-being of the students so that they can stay safe at
home without getting affected by the life-threatening virus and can continue getting
education without a break.

as a part of science activity.

On the whole it was an enriching experience for both the students and the teacher.

REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES CONDUTED UNDER SPIC MACAY 2020-21

The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture
Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary youth movement which
promotes intangible aspects of Indian cultural heritage by promoting Indian
classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other
aspects of Indian culture; it is a movement with chapters in over 300 towns all
over the world.

SPICMACAY’s intention is to enrich the quality of formal education by
increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring
the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it. It seeks to inspire youth
through experiencing the mysticism embodied in the rich and heterogeneous
cultural tapestry of Indian and World Heritage, with a hope that the beauty,
grace, values, and wisdom embodied in these arts will influence their way of
life and thinking and inspire one to become a better human being. For this, the
most accomplished artistes of the country render programme of Indian
classical music and dance, folk, poetry, theatre, traditional paintings, crafts &
yoga primarily in schools and colleges. In 2011, SPIC MACAY was awarded
the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana award in recognition of its contribution to youth
development.

During session 2020-21 Spic Macay has conducted many webinars,
workshops, trainings sessions for students of KVS all over India

Our School was allotted a three-day Odissi Dance Workshop by Shri Rahul
Acharya 8th to 10th Feb 2021in which 48 students participated whole heartedly
and got the golden opportunity to interact live with Shri Rahul Acharya, famous
Odissi dancer.

REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED UNDER ROUTES TO ROOTS-2020-21

"Virsa" is derived from the word "Virasat" meaning Heritage

To preserve and promote India's rich cultural heritage and legacy of performing
arts, for the first time in the country, Routes 2 Roots, in collaboration with
Ministry of Culture, Government of India has taken up the initiative of
imparting awareness, education and knowledge on Indian culture and
performing arts including classical music, dance and drama through interactive
digital classes.

The program involves teaching students of schools across India covering the
entire country and subsequently taking it to other parts of the world. This will
be in addition to periodic workshops in each school with inter school, inter
region and inter country performances being organized with our illustrious
Board of Advisors being present on these occasions. We are promoting and
contributing to three key initiatives of the Government of India.

During 2020-21 many programmes, workshops and activities have been
conducted in virtual mode:

1. Celebrating Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji - 27Nov.2020

2. 9th All India Virsa Inter-school competition 26 th Jan to 26 th feb 2021

3. Live interactive sessions by Deepak Thukrela and Dimple Mehta on 8

REPORT ON PTM MEETINGS FOR THE SESSION 2020-21

For a school to function better, it is important for teachers and parents to come together.
A parent surely wants to know everything that is going on in the school, including the
teachers and school management. The same goes for the teachers too, in which they want
to know the social background, interests and so on of the students. All this actually works
to the benefit of students. Knowing more about a student helps teachers to cater to their
needs accordingly. This is well achieved by the Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) in the
school.

As the School education shifted from offline to online mode of teaching, it became
imperative to make the parents aware of the New Normal their role as parent during online
teaching

➢ Ensuring that the child attends the online classes regularly.
➢ Ensuring that the child completes all the given assignments timely.
➢ Acting as a friend, guide and facilitator for your ward.
➢ Ensuring that the child participates all the events and competitions posted in the

official WhatsApp group wholeheartedly.
➢ Monitor the progress and performance of your ward on regular basis.

Monthly PTMs were conducted to share with the parents the performance of the
students in PTs TTs etc.

REPORT ON THE GUEST LECTURES CONDUCTED DURING 2020-21

Guest lectures help students improve their learning in a more interactive, topic specific
way. These can be very helpful not only for the students, but can also contribute to the
teacher’s knowledge and practices. Guest lectures can be used to make classes more

approachable and appealing to students.

A good guest speaker lecture can bring the student into the further liking of the field
talked about, and can lead to a full enrollment into it, as well as secondary
“consequences” such as field-related connections, a different point of view on ideas

previously taught in a different way, and above all, better learning.

Due to the Covid-19Pandemic guest lectures, webinars, workshops have been conducted
in virtual mode.

REPORT ON VIRTUAL ALUMNI MEET- 2020-21

May 30th 2020

School is the second home for children, and it plays a vital role in nurturing
them into good human beings. Besides shaping the character of a child, the
school helps him to face the world with bravery and courage. The teachers and
the students share an intimate and intricate bond of love and respect.

Having our Alumni back to where they belong brings back a lot of memories. I
think everyone remembers their first day in school. Some of us cried and
wanted to go back home, but the day we left school to step into the bigger world,
we realized what this institution truly means to us. Bidding farewell to one’s
school is probably the toughest thing to do, and it is never easy to say goodbye.

One of the main purposes of alumni associations is to support a network of
former graduates who will, in turn, help to raise the profile of the university.
Just like most other university student organizations, alumni associations aim
to bring together like-minded individuals.

Due to Pandemic this year the Alumni Meet was conducted in virtual mode
through google meet. Dr. Surabhi Dwivedi took the initiated and organized the
Alumni meet on 30.05.2020 at 6p.m, nearly 28 alumni and teachers attended
the virtual meet. It was really a fulfilling experience to meet our teachers and
friends and refresh our schooldays memories.

REPORT ON EK BHARAT SHRESHTH BHARAT 2020-21

India is a unique nation, whose fabric has been woven by diverse linguistic, cultural, and
religious threads held together in a composite national identity by a rich history of cultural
evolution, coupled with a rousing freedom struggle that was built around the tenets of non-
violence and justice. The spirit of mutual understanding amidst a shared history has
enabled a special unity in diversity, which stands out as a tall flame of nationhood that
needs to be nourished and cherished into the future. The idea of a sustained and structured
cultural connect between people of different regions was mooted by Hon’ble Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas held on 31st October, 2015,
to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Hon’ble Prime
Minister stated that cultural diversity is a joy that ought to be celebrated through mutual
interaction and reciprocity between people of different States and UTs so that a common
spirit of understanding resonates throughout the country. Towards achieving this, every
State and UT in the country would be paired with another State and UT for a year, during
which they would carry out a structured engagement with one another in the spheres of
language, literature, cuisine, festivals, cultural events, tourism etc. Cultural adoption of the
paired States/UTs would be followed by all States and UTs.

All the States/UTs in India have been paired accordingly. An activity calendar for each
pair was prepared through mutual consultation, paving the way for a year long process of
mutual engagement. Such interactions between different segments of the population of
each pair of States/UTs at the cultural level would generate a spirit of understanding and
appreciation amongst the people and forge mutual bonding, thus securing an enriched value
system of unity in the nation. Accordingly our State Gujarat has been paired with
Chhattisgarh. A number of activities were undertaken by the Vidyalaya through online
platforms to foster the true spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat among the students as
envisioned by Government of India and KVS.

A planner was prepared and circulated accordingly for smooth conduction of various
activities. Students participated with enthusiasm to celebrate the true spirit of united India
with its diversity. Weekly activities like News hour, Morning Pledge, Bhasha Sangam
activities were taken up by all the class teachers in their respective online classes. Quiz
was organised on each Friday through Google form to acquaint the students with different
aspects of our paired state Chhattisgarh and its beauty. The students from class III to XII
participated in the quiz and made it the most cherished event of EBSB. Folk Song and Folk
Dance were organised in the month of October and November first Week to mark the
celebration of National Unity Day and State Day of our paired state. Students participated

in these activities through online platform of Google Meet from their homes. Thus it
involved the parents also in the celebration of UNITY IN DIVERSITY of India.

Besides these cultural activities many literary activities like extempore and essay writing
competitions were organised in various classes by the respective teachers in their online
teaching periods. Webinar was organized on ‘Charismatic Chhattisgarh’ by selected
students of Class VI (Umang Gupta, Disha Patel), Class VII (Tejas Dwivedi), Class VIII
(Saumya Parmar, Nihar Ranjan Swain), Class IX (Devanshi Upadhyay, Harsh Parmar)
where rest of the students of class VIII and IX were the audience. It was also attended by
teachers (Ms Jatindar Kaur, Ms Suja Prasad) who appreciated the efforts of the students.
One student of Class IX Harsh Parmar also participated in Regional Webinar on
Chhattisgarh organised by RO Ahmedabad. Besides students from class VI to X prepared
beautiful and colourful Scrap-Books and Digital Slide presentation showcasing the beauty
and diversity of our paired State Chhattisgarh.

Students were duly awarded for their efforts and participation in various activities of EBSB
2020-21 through Certificates and Prizes. This motivated the students and inspired them to
keep participating in this novel process of enjoyment and learning simultaneously.

REPORT ON CONSTITUTION DAY 2020-21

Constitution Day (National Law Day), also known as Samvidhan Divas, is
celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption
of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly
of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January
1950.

The Government of India declared 26 November as Constitution Day on 19
November 2015 by a gazette notification. The Prime Minister of India Shri
Narendra Modi made the declaration on 11 October 2015 while laying the
foundation stone of Dr B. R. Ambedkar's Statue of Equality memorial
in Mumbai. The year of 2015 was the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar,
who had chaired the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and
played a pivotal role in the drafting of the constitution. 26 November was
chosen to spread the importance of the constitution and to spread thoughts and
ideas of Dr Ambedkar.

As per the directions of Government of India and KVS, various programs were
organized on the occasion of Constitution Day in our Vidyalaya. The preamble
of the constitution was read in all the online classes by the students. Preamble
reading was also done by the staff through a virtual meet in the Vidyalaya.
There was a webinar on salient features of the constitution of India presented
by students of Class VIII (Tigmayudh Aryan, Nihar Ranjan Swain, Saumya
Parmar), Class IX (Devanshi Upadhyay, Harshita Kumavat), Class X
(Divyanshu Vats) under the guidance of Mrs Kirti Jangid TGT-SSt for class

REPORT ON AWAKENED CITIZEN PROGRAM 2020-21

The Awakened Citizen Program, vision of this program is to truly empower the students
and give them a new identity. Every student participating in the program should feel, at
least in a small way, the extraordinary power and strength which Swami Vivekananda talks
about as inherent in every human being. This would enable them to stand on their own
feet, face challenges of life and become truly enlightened citizens, irrespective of their
academic achievements. The program is meant to enable the students to discover a
tremendous sense of self-confidence and courage to face life squarely. Not only the
students, the teachers and other stakeholders like educational administrators and parents
are also bound to be impacted by the powerful message of strength of Swami Vivekananda,
revealed through this program. It is a small and humble beginning, but an enormous
initiative in the right direction in restoring India’s glory and in establishing the India of
Swami Vivekananda’s dream, which will be full of awakened citizens who would not only
do well for themselves, but would also think of the welfare of others.

The Awakened Citizen Program emphasizes that each child is unique and has infinite
potential; education is the unfolding of this potential which can be manifested as excellence
in every walk of life. The program is designed in a discussion oriented manner where the
students analyze various explorations, real life situations and role models. The students
think about, discuss and discover the consequences of various choices and hence get armed
with a decision making framework for life. The program does not impose any dos and
don’ts, but enables the children to develop faith in themselves, discover values and make
responsible choices.

The program aims to target students of class VII to IX. Initially there were two trained
teachers in the Vidyalaya, Ms Shikha Sharma and Ms Jangid Kirti Tarachand for phase 1&
2 respectively targeting class VII and VIII. Later Ms Shilpi Tayal TGT Maths underwent
online training for Phase 1 -Class VII in September 2020, Ms Shikha Sharma was trained
for Phase 2- Class VIII in October 2020 and Ms Kirti Jangid for Phase 3- Class IX in
November 2020. Every week one period was allotted for each class VII to IX for the
modules of ACP to be discussed with the students.

In December,2020 Mr Hardik Vyas –ACP Coordinator RKM New Delhi observed the ACP
sessions for class VII to IX. He also interacted with the students and asked them to share
their experiences of ACP. Students happily interacted and shared their feedback saying
that they look forward to be a part of this beautiful journey next year also.
