ABOUT THE COURSE Major Subjects Biological chemistry Biological chemistry plays a crucial role in human life. Research and development in this field of science has been very active over the past few decades due to the urgent need for drug development for newly emerging diseases, safer and more environmentallyfriendly agricultural technologies as well as food safety. Not only does our program provide a solid background in biological chemistry, but it also integrates science with many aspects of economics, business, and entrepreneurship. The program is designed to produce graduates who are highly versatile with the ability to tackle problems using interdisciplinary approaches. Students who graduate from our program can find themselves working in various industries including drug development, food and agricultural technologies, medical technology, and others. Material chemistry Material chemistry is a multidisciplinary area that encompasses the fabrication, structural analysis, property assessment and applicability of novel chemical materials. The topic covers aspects of chemistry, physics, biology and engineering, and how they can be combined to produce new materials suitable for commercial applications. (KUIC) Integrated Chemistry (B.S.) FACULTY OF SCIENCE Material chemistry focuses on the synthetic methods needed to produce organic, inorganic and hybrid materials, and the techniques needed for their characterization. Materials can adopt organized structures on the nanomicro- or macro- scale which can give rise to unique properties. This course will focus on how materials with a range of chemical, electrical, thermal, optical or mechanical properties are produced, including: high temperature ceramics, bioplastics, dye-sensitized solar cells, and selective micro-porous catalysts. Students who graduate from this program can expect to find employment in industries related to electronics, construction, food science, etc. Industrial chemistry Industrial chemistry is a program that provides prospective students with a broad understanding of fundamental and applied chemistry as well as essential industrial processes, including basic understanding of unit operations. Undergraduates will explore in-depth specific research areas such as renewable energy, catalysis, functionalized composite, natural rubber, textiles, dyes, and gemology. The program provides students a foundation in chemistry for the integrated industrial and research sector and the use of English. It can also produce prospective graduates who are ready for the ASEAN community and global companies. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS An applicant must complete, or be in, grade 12 (M6) or equivalent. Qualifications that are considered to be equivalent to or exceeding M6 include A-level (British), IB Diploma, HS Diploma(American), IGCSE and GED. Other qualifications will be considered individually. Applicants with IGCSE or GED must have either completed, or be in the process of completing, 4 years of secondary school or be at least 20 years of age or have reached the age of majority P78
