Director’s Notes Anyone who knows me is well aware of my status as a Disney fanatic. From an early age Disney has had a special place in my heart, and particularly the tale of a bookish, smart strong female character who isn’t content to do what is expected of her. Belle’s story is one that speaks to all of us of how unimaginable changes and setbacks can be turned into incredible successes. “We don’t like what we don’t understand; in fact it scares us...” The Villagers This is, without a doubt, the largest show we have ever taken on. From the number of cast auditions, to the size of the pit orchestra, to the special effects within the show itself, Beauty and the Beast is massive! It is only through the combination of everyone’s efforts that any of this is possible, and I am extremely grateful to the team that I work with. Meg, Nikki, Amber, and Todd have put up with me for so many productions, and way too many crazy ideas and “what ifs.” This year I am so incredibly grateful to have the assistance of a former student turned colleague: Allison has done a little bit of everything, including being the communal shoulder to cry on! The parents, families, and friends of the cast and crew add so much to the workings of the production, and in particular Karen has spent so many hours and late nights. Of course we always look forward to our alumni returning when they can, and we are grateful for their support with everything! And lastly, thank you, for your continued support of the arts, and particularly theatre in Peru. It is your commitment that helps these young people thrive in a place that they consider safe and become the best versions of themselves! “For once it might be grand, to have someone understand; I want so much more than they’ve got planned…” Belle To my cast and crew: I am incredibly proud to have shared the stage and this production with each of you. Through the stress and anxiety that any production brings, we have added the enormity of this show and the pressure that is such a well-known story. You continue to amaze me every day and I love you all! To our seniors: you mean more to me than words can say—whether you have been in this Drama Club family for a few months or since AppleCrate, you have had such an impact on us, and me in particular. I will miss you all, but I know that your adventure in that great wide somewhere will be all that you’ve planned and more. <3 “I just finished the most wonderful story…” Belle Chris Urban Director

Our Cast!

Our Cast!

Who’s Who In The Cast & Crew Lucas Allen (Maurice) is in 11th grade and is thrilled and so grateful to finally be back onstage with the rest of his friends. This is Lucas’s fifth Peru Drama Club production; he was first in the ensemble for Tuck Everlasting, a soloist in “All Together Now,” a lead in Bright Star, “Teens” and “She Kills Monsters.” When Lucas isn’t performing, he is spending time with friends and family or working. He sends hugs and kisses to his cast and crew, his mom for everything she does for him and dealing with his craziness. He also wants to shout out his sister, brother, and friends, and especially Mr. Urban (our fantastic director). He thanks them dearly for their dedicated, hard work for putting this show on this year. Stay safe and enjoy the show. Amber Arnold (Props Director) has been doing theatre since she was in high school and has been part of Peru Drama Club since 2013. Some of her favorite shows have been The Addams Family and Tuck Everlasting, which she directed. Amber is the ELL teacher for the district and enjoys theatre, drawing, and various arts. Congratulations to the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast. She is proud of all that you have done! Remi Beauharnois (Lumiere, Ensemble) has been stoked for this musical and her role! Even though she is shorter than Evelyn (Babette) and pretty much everyone but Belle. In the past she has done “The Giver” (Lily), Rock of Ages (Constance), James and the Giant Peach (Mrs. Trotter), “Almost, Maine” (Suzette), Newsies! (Crutchie), “A Christmas Story” (Schwartz), Tuck Everlasting (Featured Dancer), “One Stoplight Town” (as crew), and “All Together Now” (as crew) with the Peru Drama Club. Remi is a Peru senior and could think of no better musical to be her last, and she will miss everyone in the cast and the people she had the pleasure to get closer with. Outside of the auditorium, you’ll find Remi most likely studying or reading a book. But if she's really having fun you'll see her mountain biking, hiking, or eating ice cream. Remi hopes you enjoy this show to its fullest and have a lovely evening. Jocelyn Bessette (Babette, Ensemble) is in 8th grade and is very excited about performing in PDC’s Beauty and the Beast production. This is Jocelyn’s third show with PDC but you might have seen her in either “One Stoplight Town” (Police Officer) or Bright Star (Clerk and Ensemble). You could’ve also seen her in front house during “All Together Now” and “She Kills Monsters.” But while she’s not performing or selling flowers you might find her swimming, playing softball, reading, or listening to music. She would like to thank her parents, grandparents, and friends Lily,

Who’s Who In The Cast & Crew Amelia, Alysa, Hannah, and Addy for always being there and encouraging her. This role has brought her out of her comfort zone and was a great experience. Quinn Bikowitz (Ensemble) is in her first show with the Peru drama Club. She’s very impressed by how this is coming along, and can’t wait to show everybody. She hopes you love it as much as she does. Destini Bresette (Madame de la Grande Bouche) is a 10th grader and is very excited to perform in PDC’s production of Beauty and the Beast with the rest of her friends/fellow cast members. This is Destini’s second PDC production, but she has performed in other things in the past. Destini was in Applecrate in elementary school and performed in the ensemble for The Lion King, she has been in about four Talent Shows, she has done chorus all throughout middle and high school other than her freshman year, All-State, and she was recently Farrah in PDC’s production of “She Kills Monsters.” When Destini isn’t performing, you can often find her spending time with her fellow “theatre kid” friends, or family. She is so grateful to all her friends, and fellow cast members, especially Z Young and Emma Hill. She also wants to thank the cast, crew, and Mr. Urban (our amazing director), for making this show come to life. She hopes that everyone is having a great day and that everyone stays safe, and enjoys the show! Amara Corrigan (Mrs. Potts) is a Senior at Peru High School. This will be her 10th show with PDC and her 16th show. You might have seen her as Winnie in Tuck Everlasting, as Alice Murphy in Bright Star, or Agnes Evans in “She Kills Monsters.” Along with being on stage she enjoys being off stage. Amara has done crew for 4 shows and can’t wait to do more. She is also the President of the Drama Club and of SkillsUSA, preparing for leadership in the world of work. Amara also takes CV-Tec‘s early childhood education program. She has been awarded as the NYS title winner in infant CPR. In her free time, she enjoys researching ways to make herself a better teacher. She would like to thank her family and friends for being such big supporters. And she would also like to thank the cast and crew for making this show happen. She thanks you for coming and hopes you enjoy the show! Zoee Corrigan (Ensemble) is a freshman this year. She’s very excited about her forth show with the Peru Drama Club. Outside of the drama club, you can find Zoee dancing away to some random kpop song, but now you can find Zoee dancing around on stage and singing with her favorite friends. She is very thankful for Nikki

Who’s Who In The Cast & Crew (Stage Manager) and Mr. Urban (our wonderful director). She’s also very thankful for you coming and hopes you enjoy the show! Aliyah Daniels (Ensemble) is in 7th grade. She has participated in 3 Peru Drama Club shows, her favorite being Bright Star. Aliyah enjoys spending time with all the castmates and learning from the older ones. She looks forward to participating in many more shows as she moves on through high school. She is thankful for all the rides to and from school for rehearsal. She hopes you enjoy the show and all the effort put into it. Brooklynn Daniels (Les Filles 2, Old Beggar Woman/ Enchantress) is in 11th grade. This is Brooklynn’s third production with Peru Drama Club. She was in the previous musical Bright Star (ensemble) and she was also in the play “Teen” (Jenny). She would like to thank her family for giving her many rides to rehearsals. An even bigger thanks to the rest of the cast, crew/production crew, and director for working so hard on this musical. And the biggest thank you goes to her best friend Serena Ramos, who convinced her to join the Drama Club with her because Brooklynn honestly wouldn’t be on this stage if it wasn’t for Serena. Brooklynn hopes that you enjoy our production of Beauty and the Beast and she thanks you for coming. Dante De Boos (Baker, Monsieur D’arque) is a Junior and is thrilled to present this show, as it is the very first acting role he has done with the lovely Peru Drama Club! Having had previous experience in theater before as Aladdin in Aladdin, King Louie in The Jungle Book, several ensemble roles, and crew for Peru’s very own production of “She Kills Monsters,” he is a frequent enjoyer of the arts. He also enjoys reading, sleeping, and adoring his two silly dogs. He would like to thank his family (especially his mother, who worked a great deal on the show), Arthur Cowling for inspiring him to audition, all the amazing friends he met through the show, and all his other friends, especially Mason. Nate De Boos (Beast) is very happy to be performing with Peru Drama Club once again! As an avid performer Nate has adopted some roles such as Maui in Moana JR, Genie in Aladdin Kids, and most recently Chuck in Peru Drama Club’s very own “She Kills Monsters.” In his spare time he is usually dancing ballet, breakdancing, or musical theatre or practicing his vocal skills with his mom. Nate would like to thank his Mom and Dad and friends Jayla Wade, Malik McDuffie, Z Young, Destini Bresette, Emma Hill, Xander St. Cyr, Connor Gonyea, and everyone else he knows (you know who you are) for supporting him and his

Who’s Who In The Cast & Crew castmates for being incredible to work with. If you can’t love him in his rendition of “The Beast” then he hopes you’ll love this production of Beauty and the Beast! “Please support local theatre!” Marlee Dryer (Ensemble) is excited to do their first show with Peru Drama Club! They can't wait to see their friend’s reaction to the show and would like to say... ENJOY! Chelsea Germaine (Student Stage Manager) is a Class of ‘22 graduate who has participated in backstage crew since her freshman year, during Peru’s production of Newsies. Since then, Chelsea has been the Student Stage Manager for several of Peru’s productions, including Tuck Everlasting, “One Stoplight Town,” “All Together Now,” Bright Star, and this year’s production of Beauty and the Beast. Her favorite part of backstage crew has been opening and closing the grand curtain. She enjoys a variety of activities including reading, hunting, and camping. In her little amount of free time between her job at Pasquale’s, college, and the show, you’re likely to find Chelsea doing those activities, or rewatching Supernatural for the fourth time. She is proud of all the cast and crew members for their hard work, and has enjoyed watching the show come together. “Part of the journey is the end.” -Tony Stark (except when it isn’t, because they’ve asked her to come back) Connor Gonyea (Ensemble) is in 10th grade and is happy to perform with everybody and give you Peru Drama Club´s production of ¨Beauty and the Beast.¨ You may have seen Connor as a monster or Tiamat in the play ¨She Kills Monsters.¨ This is also Connor´s first musical. When Connor is not on stage he is usually hanging with friends, writing music for his band Lymm grnn or playing video games. Connor is also part of S.A.V.E, Anime Club and HS chorus. Connor would like to thank all the actors, crew and you for helping this all become a reality. Now finally he hopes you enjoy the show. Adrianna Haley (Ensemble) is in 8th grade and this is her second year in drama club. She performed in “Teen” last year and “She Kills Monsters” this year, and was crew for PDC’s Bright Star. She originally joined for the trips but quickly fell in love with the drama club. Her favorite musical to date is Come From Away, ironically her first PDC activity. When not on stage she can be found swimming, ice skating, reading in the library, or spending time with her friends and family. She appreciates Mr. Urban very much and thanks him from the bottom of her heart for being awesome. She is super excited to be a part of the drama club’s produc-

tion of Beauty and The Beast and she is very thankful for her family and friends who have supported her through all this! Olivia Healy (Ensemble) is a 10th grader now, and has become an ensemble in the new drama musical Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. She previously starred in “All Together Now,” Bright Star, “Teen,” and became stage crew in “She Kills Monsters.” Olivia is very excited to be back on stage again; she’s been working really hard with dancing and singing. She wants to thank everyone from drama for making her feel more braver and more comfortable doing things. Olivia hopes this musical will be very successful and fun for everyone. Enjoy the show!! Nikki Hilchey (Stage Manager, Costumer) is so excited to bring this iconic show to life! These costumes wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated support of Karen, Emily, Sara, and Olivia, for whom she is eternally grateful. Nikki has worked on technical aspects of over 100 shows since 1999 locally and in the Elmira area. Some favorite shows include being a dresser for the Broadway tour of Jekyll & Hyde, stage managing South Pacific starring Leslie & George Hearn at SUNY Plattsburgh, stage managing and assistant directing RENT with Essex Theatre Company in the pre-renovated Strand Theatre, stage managing “Next Fall” for the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, and a growing number of shows with Peru Drama Club. When Nikki isn’t working on shows, she spends her days fundraising for Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York and trying to get out in the sunshine throughout the Adirondacks. Brenna LaHart (Belle), a senior, is very excited to be a part of the Peru Drama Club’s production of Beauty and the Beast! Brenna has been involved in several productions prior to this and couldn't be happier with the final product of every late-night and early-morning rehearsal! Brenna is grateful for the support from all of her family members and friends. In addition, she would like to thank her teachers, coaches, and friends for being so compassionate towards her busy schedule. Brenna would like to thank her director, choreographer, and prop masters, for creating such an amazing environment where she has been able to spend her high school career. The support and guidance she has experienced has truly been unbelievable. As she, and several other seniors, take their final bow on the stage she thanks you all humbly for supporting your high school theater. Thank you for making this all possible. Simone LaPlante (Cogsworth) is a senior in high school. This is her 6th year and 9th production for PDC, but her 17th production overall. Alexa Markowicz (La Fille de la Ville) is a Sophomore at Peru High School and is so excited to be a part of Beauty and the Beast. This is her first musical with the Peru Drama Club but she became so close with everyone and formed many new friendships that she cherished dearly. Although Alexa has not been in any productions with the school, she did gymnastics for a few years and performed her dances at competitions. When she isn't performing you can find Alexa hanging out with friends or painting. She moved to Peru in 7th grade and hadn't truly branched out fully till this year, joining many clubs and participating in out of school activities. She has had an amazing time working with these young individuals; she loves every minute of it. She’s always excited to see students returning to the stage and thrilled to see newcomers and hope they’ve enjoyed their time as well. To the seniors of the show, best of luck with all that the future holds for you, we'll certainly miss you! A big thank you to Nate and Araya for being her dance captains, and to Amara and Bianka for the great leadership they bring to the group. Meghan would also like to thank Chris for all the hard work he puts in, along with Todd, Nikki, and Amber. The show would not be the same without all of you! She hopes you enjoy the show and would like to thank you for coming and supporting the Peru Drama Club. "Tale as old as time, tune as old as song, bittersweet and strange, finding you can change, learning you were wrong." - Mrs. Potts, Beauty and the Beast Malik McDuffie (Maurice, Ensemble) is a 10th grader who made his theatrical debut in Bright Star as Dr. Norquist and most recently played the fearsome Vera the Beholder in “She Kills Monsters.” From 4th grade to 8th grade he was involved in his former school district’s choir programs. This is Evelyn's second theatrical production with Peru, although she has been in six shows with Adirondack Regional Theatre including Moana, Aristocats, and Willy Wonka to name a few. Recently, you may have seen her onstage as Evil Gabbi in Peru´s production of “She Kills Monsters.” She's happy to say that she's back on the stage playing a much less bloody, gruesome character! In her free time (rare), she usually hangs out around the barn with her non-human equestrian buddies. Evelyn has also been a part of the Peru Orchestra for almost seven years. With her whole family involved in music and theater, Evelyn immediately fell in love with the arts. She would like to thank her Mom and Dad for every amazing thing they do, whether it's driving her to/from rehearsal, helping her with the music, or simply being there for her. She would also like to thank her friends, Destini, Araya, Jake, Simone and Jayla for continuously inspiring her. And finally, many thanks to the best dance partners, Jake and Remi. Thank you for coming to see our production of Beauty and the Beast. “Sit back, enjoy the show, and please—be our guest.” Jayla Wade (Beast) is a junior at Peru High School and is very ecstatic for her first musical! Jayla has been in two other shows, those being “Teen” and “She Kills Monsters”. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and listening to a ton of varieties of music! She loves that she gets to hang out with all the people she cares about while doing one of the things she loves the

most! She needs everyone to know that she really appreciates that everybody has her back if she is struggling with something, or just needs someone to talk to. Jayla would also like to give a special thank you to the Badger family, as well as Z Young and their family for always being there, no matter what the situation. And of course her Mom and Step-mom, and her little cousin Serenity! She hopes you enjoy the show! Lorelei Wiggins (Narrator) is really excited to have her first role with lines in Peru’s production of Beauty and the Beast, where she will be in the role of the narrator. She is very thrilled and can’t wait to see where things go from here. Lorelei has done productions outside of Peru Drama Club with ART (Adirondack Regional Theater); in Alice In Wonderland Lorelei was a sea creature and ensemble member, in Xanadu she was an ensemble member, lastly in Willy Wonka she was an Oompa Loompa dancer as well as an ensemble member. She has also done a ballet with Center Stage Dance in Plattsburgh. Lorelei enjoyed all of the productions she has done so far and is excited to do more. For Peru’s productions Lorelei has done Tuck Everlasting as an ensemble member as well as a carnie in the carnival scene; in “She Kills Monsters,” she was an ensemble member as well as a Bugbear and monster. Emma Wood (Ensemble) is in 7th grade at Peru Middle School. She is excited to be in another Peru Drama Club production. She was previously in “Teen,” Bright Star, and “All Together Now.” In her free time, she enjoys playing the trumpet, swimming, and hanging out with family and friends. Emma would like to thank her family for everything they have done for her; she is very grateful for them. She would also like to thank all of the cast and crew for making this show possible! Enjoy the show! Z Young (Cogsworth) is so excited to be a part of another show with Peru Drama Club! They have performed in a few shows at Clinton Community College, and have also been featured in, Newsies, “Almost, Maine,” “All Together Now!,” Bright Star, and “She Kills Monsters” here at Peru. They also assisted in stage managing Mary Poppins with Adirondack Regional Theatre and Plattsburgh High School this past summer. Z is very glad that you are here and hopes that you enjoy the show! “Good taste is the enemy of creativity.” - Pablo Picasso Who’s Who In The Cast & Crew
