iREP (IIUM Repository) ~ The International Islamic University Malaysia's repository system, IREP is linked to
Malaysian Academic Library Institutional repository (MALREP) to increase the visibility of the university's
research publications. MALREP consists of 28 Malaysian repositories and 24 libraries, including local and
government-linked company universities in Malaysia. 508,562 items are indexed in MALREP.

Renovated and upgraded computer lab (Computer Lab-'Umar) and new computer lab (Computer
Lab-Abu Bakr), Level 2, Library, Gombak Campus. The following facilities were upgraded :
•50 Computer Tables with seats
•50 units of New Personal Computers
•New Projector and Audio-Visual System
•New Computer Chairs in red

The New Look of the Serials Area, Level 4, Dar Al-Hikmah Library, Gombak Campus. This area have been
specifically designated as the Quiet or Silent Study Area.

Townhall with Prof Dr Rahmah Ahmad H.Osman, Deputy Rector (Research & Innovation) was successfully
held on the 9th January 2018 at the Library Auditorium, Dar Al-Hikmah Library (Gombak Campus)

Prof Dr Rahmah Ahmad H Osman, Deputy Rector (Research & Innovation) visited Syed Muhammad
Naquib Al-Attas Library (SMNAL) at ISTAC on the 7th February 2018.

Stories about Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas Library (SMNAL), ISTAC was published in the local newspaper
Utusan Malaysia on Thursday, 8th March 2018. Newspaper highlighted on the SMNAL offers a substantial collection
of materials for the researchers in the area of Islamic thought and civilization.

The awareness programme on the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), World
Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2018, Kuala Lumpur was successfully held on the 15th March 2018 at
the Library Auditorium, Dar Al-Hikmah Library (Gombak Campus). The awareness programme was presented by the
Librarians Association Malaysia (Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia) to promote the World Library &
Information Congress (WLIC) 2018 to all librarians of IIUM.

Workshop on ISO 9001 : 2015 "Unlearn & Relaearn the QMS" was held on the 8th - 9th of February 2018 at the
Multipurpose Room, Dar al-Hikmah Library (Gombak Campus) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A total of 51 librarians
had attended the workshop. The facilitator for the workshop is Br. Mohd Nasim Zakaria, Lead Auditor SIRIM QAS.

IIUM Repository (iREP) : Tips & Tricks, a half day programme, was held on the 7th February 2018 at AIKOL
Conference Room, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah Of Law (AIKOL). The programme is the collaboration between Law
Information Unit and Information Services Section of the Dar Al-Hikmah Library and Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of
Law (AIKOL). The programme was attended by 19 AIKOL lecturers including Research assistants.
The objective of the programme is to disseminate information on IREP to the AIKOL lecturers. The topics
presented by the Library Research Support Section are :-
•iREP & the Scholarly Communications by Sr. Nur’aini bt. Abu Bakar
•iREP : How to Expedite the Verification Process by Sr. Wan Salwati bt. Wan Salleh

Workshop on "A Guide to Getting Published" (GGP) was presented by Mr Ben Sng, Senior Consultant, Emerald
Group Publishing Limited. The workshop was held on the 1st March 2018, 10.00 am - 1.00 pm at Auditorium,
Dar Al-Hikmah Library (Gombak Campus). It was attended by the postgraduate students and the academics of
IIUM.

MS ISO 9001:2015 - Quality Management System: "Aware, Know, And Understand" was held on the 23rd
March 2018, 10.30 am - 12.00 noon, at the Senate Hall, Rectory Building, IIUM. A total of 127 library staff had
attended the workshop. The facilitator for the workshop is Br. Mohd Nasim Zakaria, Lead Auditor SIRIM QAS.

Workshop on QMS Document Writing & Performance Calculation was held on the 22nd and 23rd March 2018
at the Multipurpose Room (MPR), Dar al-Hikmah Library (Gombak Campus). A total of 25 librarians had attended
the workshop. The facilitator for the workshop is Br. Mohd Nasim Zakaria, Lead Auditor SIRIM QAS.

Benchmarking visit from Universitas Islam Negeri, Raden Fatah Palembang on the 16th January 2018

VISIT FROM KKM ~ Law Information Unit, Dar Al-Hikmah Library Gombak received the study visit from
Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (11 staff) and 1 lecturer from Institut Latihan KKM on the 22th March 2018.The
visit focused on the module "Understanding Legal Resources : Related Act & Law Reports on Public Health in
Malaysia".

VISIT FROM JENESYS2017 ~ The Dar Al-Hikmah Library received a visit from a group of JENESYS2017 (Japan-
East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) on the 8th March 2018.

Almarhumah Sr. Balqis Suja', Deputy Chief Librarian, has passed away on Monday, the 28th May 2018. Her
wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. May Allah bless her soul and reward her Jannah,
InshaAllah.

Almarhum Br. Shahrul Nizam Shaharim has passed away on Saturday, the 17th February 2018. A huge loss for the
library, he was a committed and kind-hearted person. His presence will truly be missed. May Allah bless his soul
and reward him Jannah, InshaAllah.

Sr. Rodziyah Abdul Gany had taken her early retirement on the 30th January 2018. The Library is grateful for
her dedicated years of service.
