Monica Trausch - User Manual

About Me: I’m from Los Angeles,
California. I’ve lived in New York City since
2012. My passions outside of work are
writing, traveling, movies, and my family.
My favorite place to be is the beach.

What makes me smile?
● Trust and Respect
● Organization and precision
● Creativity
● Levity
● Genuineness
● Short meetings
● Cute animals

Young me, with attitude.

My Mind: INTJ (The Architect)
“It’s lonely at the top, and being one of the rarest and most strategically capable personality
types, Architects know this all too well. Architects form just two percent of the population, and
women of this personality type are especially rare, forming just 0.8% of the population – it is
often a challenge for them to find like-minded individuals who are able to keep up with their
relentless intellectualism and chess-like maneuvering. People with the Architect personality type
are imaginative yet decisive, ambitious yet private, amazingly curious, but they do not squander
their energy. Titles mean little to Architects – trust and respect are earned, and Architects expect
this to be a two way street, receiving and delivering advice, criticisms, and results. Architects are
gifted, bright, and development-oriented.”

My strengths:
● Efficient
● Good writer/editor
● Sounding board who will tell you the truth -- not a “yes man”
● Reliable. I always do what I say I will. And if I can’t, I’ll own up to that.
● Compassion and empathy for others, especially kids
● Trustworthy. I am someone my coworkers, friends, and family can count on.
● Organized
● My sense of humor

Monica Trausch - User Manual

My Expectations:
● Transparency. No duplicitousness. What you say, you mean.

● When you say you’ll do something, you do it.
● Constructive Criticism with a clear path to improvement for myself and others

I work best...
● In a quiet workplace, free from
distraction and interruption
● When given freedom and independence
● When I take short breaks
● When working with people I trust and
respect
● When I believe in the work I’m doing
● When I’m challenged

I’m always up for an adventure
and my goal in life is to make the
world a better place, even in the
smallest way.

Adventuring on a wooden boat in Laos!

My weaknesses:
● Overly judgemental: sometimes when I’ve made my mind up about something, I have
trouble being swayed or seeing things in a new light.
● Overly decisive: sometimes when a decision has been made, I’m unable to go back to
revisit the choices. I always want to move forward, even if there are mistakes.
● Sometimes my tone or facial expressions are overly harsh when I don’t mean them to be.
If I seem mad, trust that I’m probably not. Give me the benefit of the doubt OR if you
feel comfortable, help me to notice when my tone is off, because it is something I want to
improve on.

Some warnings:
● If I’m silent or do not challenge/question you, it means I’m disengaged.
● Office gossip and schmoozing are not the way into my heart – only bold competence will
do

Introverted iNtuition
Introverted intuitives, INFJs enjoy a greater clarity of perception of inner, unconscious
processes than all but their INTJ cousins. Just as SP types commune with the object
and "live in the here and now" of the physical world, INFJs readily grasp the hidden
psychological stimuli behind the more observable dynamics of behavior and affect.
Their amazing ability to deduce the inner workings of the mind, will and emotions of
others gives INFJs their reputation as prophets and seers. Unlike the confining,
routinizing nature of introverted sensing, introverted intuition frees this type to act
insightfully and spontaneously as unique solutions arise on an event by event basis.

Extraverted Feeling
Extraverted feeling, the auxiliary deciding function, expresses a range of emotion and
opinions of, for and about people. INFJs, like many other FJ types, find themselves
caught between the desire to express their wealth of feelings and moral conclusions
about the actions and attitudes of others, and the awareness of the consequences of
unbridled candor. Some vent the attending emotions in private, to trusted allies. Such
confidants are chosen with care, for INFJs are well aware of the treachery that can
reside in the hearts of mortals. This particular combination of introverted intuition and
extraverted feeling provides INFJs with the raw material from which perceptive
counselors are shaped.

Introverted Thinking
The INFJ's thinking is introverted, turned toward the subject. Perhaps it is when the INFJ's
Thinking function is operative that they are most aloof. A comrade might surmise that such
detachment signals a disillusionment, that she has also been found lacking by the sardonic
eye of this one who plumbs the depths of the human spirit. Experience suggests that such
distancing is merely an indication that the seer is hard at work and focusing energy into
this less efficient tertiary function.

Extraverted Sensing
INFJs are twice blessed with clarity of vision, both internal and external. Just as they possess inner
vision which is drawn to the forms of the unconscious, they also have external sensing perception
which readily takes hold of worldly objects. Sensing, however, is the weakest of the INFJ's arsenal
and the most vulnerable. INFJs, like their fellow intuitive, may be so absorbed in intuitive perceiving
that they become oblivious to physical reality. The INFJ under stress may fall prey to various forms
of immediate gratification. Awareness of extraverted sensing is probably the source of the "SP wannabe" side
of INFJs. Many yearn to live spontaneously; it's not uncommon for INFJ actors to take on an SP (often ESTP) role.

Workplace Habits

In the workplace, I face the challenge of taking my work and profession personally. If it isn’t
worth doing, it isn’t really worth doing, and this sense of moral purpose in my work colors
everything from how I respond to authority to how I express it.

What I seek in the workplace: I value harmony, need an emotional and moral connection
to my work, and loathe bureaucratic tedium.

I enjoy having my own space and freedom.

I have a strong drive, but it comes paired with a strong fear of failure. I invest a great deal of
my identity in my successes, so even a minor misstep or embarrassment can be crushing.

Workplace Challenges

May not always work well in technical applications, where the facts and logic really matter and
critique is often necessary.

When I’m under stress, as when someone really does warrant criticism, I can become
extremely emotional – it can affect their judgment, or even cause me to withdraw inwards, in
ways that can really hold back my team.

Reserved when dealing with strangers or new situations

Caution in the face of unfamiliar challenges can sometimes look like a lack of motivation, but
this is usually just self-doubt.

Mediator Subordinates

It helps for managers to frame responsibilities in terms of emotional merit rather than cold
rationalization or business for its own sake.

People with the Mediator personality type would much rather hear what they did right and
focus on what to do, rather than what not to.

Communication - I prefer to conduct in writing, where I can compose and perfect my
statements. People with the Mediator personality type avoid using phones if they can, having
the worst of both worlds, being both detached and uncomposed.

More Personality Considerations

These personalities can put so much pressure on themselves that they diminish their own
impressive accomplishments by fixating on the slightest flaws or dismissing successes as luck
rather than skill or dedication.

Alongside their personal efforts, these personality types also care a great deal what others
think of them. This can be very useful, but they can take this to a fault: fixating on others’
expectations can sour social efforts into awkwardness. We are easily thrown off-balance by
conflict, and may communicate timidly, or not at all, for fear of hurting people’s feelings,
provoking a confrontation, or looking the fool.

Sometimes it takes peer approval and active encouragement for them to recognize their own
virtues. These personalities often benefit from friends and colleagues patient enough to get to
know them and who give them a chance to speak their minds.

enthusiasm is just merely running

Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging: The Advocate

INFJs are distinguished by both their complexity of character and the unusual range and depth of their talents. Strongly
humanitarian in outlook, INFJs tend to be idealists, and because of their J preference for closure and completion, they are
generally "doers" as well as dreamers.

INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large. They are, in fact,
sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people -- a product of
the Feeling function they most readily show to the world.

In the workplace as colleagues, Advocate personalities are likely to become quite popular, being seen as positive, eloquent
and capable friends, identifying others’ motives and defusing conflicts and tension before anyone else even senses a
disturbance. Advocates are likely to prioritize harmony and cooperation over ruthless efficiency, encouraging a good,
hardworking atmosphere and helping others when needed. While this is usually a strength, there is a risk that others will take
advantage of Advocates’ commitment to their responsibilities by simply shifting their burdens onto their more dedicated
Advocate colleagues’ desks.
