Class Prophecy

"I didn't know time could fly so fast!" I, Rodney Wuster, said to myself as I sat
looking at my old 1965 school annual. I vowed I would call my old friend, Phil Mad-
son, now a special agent with the CIA; and together we would track down all the mem-
bers of the class of "65". I phoned Phil, and he said he would be glad to go. After
my last pro-football game of the season, Phil and I left on our journey, August 1, 1985.

We decided to start at the "scene of the c ri me", our old home town Walnut. We
arrived the same day and immediately checked into a new hotel owned by Opal Arm -
strong and her husband. After an enjoyable talk with Opal, we surprised Linda Peter-
~ and her husband at their ultramodern supermarket in Walnut. Linda told us Dennis
Holtz was now the President of Corley University - one of the highest-rated universities
in the country. We visited with Dennis that evening in his Corley home. Dennis told
us much about our old home town, Walnut, as well as Harlan, Avoca, and a few other
towns which were now suburbs of Corley, a growing metropolis with a population of
75,000. Dennis also told us to drop in and say "Hi" to Gene Maben, operator of a
Rent- A-Jet Service in Avoca. We decided to rent a jet to fly on to our next destina-
tion as well as see Gene. Gene was happy to see us and even happier to rent us a jet.

As we neared Chicago, my foot became heavy and the next thing we knew the sky
patrol was after us. An officer forced us over to a stop; but when we saw who got out
of the patrol plane, we both gasped. It was Ronnie Hansen. When we left we had no
ticket, but we did have the address of Irene Thiessen, now a Senator in Washington,
D. C.

Irene met us for lunch the next day. She was bubbling over with excitement be-
cause the Senate had passed her Atomic Research Bill by a vast majority. Billy Thomp-
sen, another old friend, joined us for lunch. Billy sold used missles to other countries
of the world, and his work sounded very interesting. Both gave us the addresses and
more information about Bev Peters, John Kreis, Gary Moore, and Rachel Farley, all of
whom lived in New York City . We first visited with Bev on her Long Island estate.
Bev was really quite the lady of New York society now. Next Phil and I went to Fifth
Avenue where we saw Rachel Farley, now a model. We left Rachel and proceeded to
Wall Street. On the way we were surprised to learn that Bob Andersen was appearing
that very evening with the Metropolitan Opera Company at a command performance
for the visi, ting Duchess of Grand Fenwick. We finally located Bob in his dressing room,
and he gave us two tickets for his performance that night.

Wall Street was our next stop. We entered the company of Merrill, Lynch, Pierce,
Fenner, Smith, and Moore and visited with Gary Moore. He instructed us to take in
the art exhibition of John Kreis' paintings before we l eft town. That night we attended
the concert.

Early the next morning we visited the art museum which was filled to overflowing
with art lovers. After much trouble we managed in locating John for only a few min-
utes. He invited us for lunch at his townhouse, but we had to decline because we had
to fly on. John gave us the address of Cindy Schirm and Janice Krummel. We l eft
immediately for the Amazon Rain Forest where Cindy and Janice we re now living. At
a stopover in Florida, Phil noticed a sign advertising Barbara Kixmiller's Health Resort,
l ocated in the heart of the old Everglades swamp now a beautiful city . Barb was pleased

82

to see us, as was one of her guests Eileen Corey, now a noted syndicated columnist.

Eileen gave us the address of Dale Young at Cape Kennedy. Phil and I backtracked to

the Cape where 1,e managed to see Dale. While we were there, Dale received word

he had been awarded the Nobel Ptize in science for his work with harnessing atomic

energy to produce sun tan lotion. Dale told us he had recently visited with Roger Han-

~. the United States Ambassador to Great.Britain. That night we flew to Brazil where

we were amazed to find Cindy and Janice busy fighting a small forest fire. Those rang-

erettes are certainly dedicated to their work. We visited with the girls, and then we

took a train back to the airport. The train was going along at.a good clip when all of

a sudden Phil accidentally pulled the emergency cord and everyone and everything
were thrown all over. The engineer, to_our astonishment, was Steve Bees. He came

back very angry. Steve had a lw ays told us he was going into engineering, but we didn't

know he had meant a train engineer. Steve was still the same as ever, and we had a

nice talk with him before we arrived at the airport.
We flew on to Britain the next morning. Roger was between conferences with the

Queen, but he was helpful in giving us the address of Conchi. We found her busy read-

ing reviews of her latest book, Ancient Siamese Dances. Her last book, Chinese Cook-

~• was a great success and a best seller for six months . Conchi gave us each an

autographed copy of her book and more valuable information.
After two days of rest, we bade Conchi farewell and flew to Egypt where we found

Rogene Nielsen busily working among ancient ruins. Rogene, a world-famed archeol-

ogist, had lived in Egypt since her graduation from good old Waln.ut High. She begged

us to stay and tell her all about the class. We spent the night in her beautiful remodeled

home, a pyramid.
Rogene gave us the address of Connie Thomsen so we left for Mars the next day and

who should be our pilot but Teddy League. Teddy told us he saw Connie often. She

was the wife of the governor of Mars and lived in the same area as Ted. Connie was

very glad to see us, but we had to move on. ·

Phil managed to obtain the addresses of Jerry Stendrl!.£ and Dale Knudtson who were

partners in the world 's largest cattle ranch outside Melbourne, Australia. We left Mars

that morning. The landing of our spaceship caused a cattle stampede, so things were

really jumping w~en we arrived on Earth. Jerry gave us the address_of _Larry Nie~~n

who was now Ptes1dent of the Dial Soap Company. Larry was vacauorung at Tahin

aboard his yacht. We visited with Larry and cook off for Guatamala where we were

met by Gary Nash, who owned a rubber plantation. The last leg of our journey took
us to Hollywood where we visited at the Malibu home of actress Tuesday Thucsday • the

most highly paid actress in Hollywood. Jane Fell is the name which we remembered

her by, and it wasvery hard to call her Tuesday all the time. ~ • now a

psychoanalist in Hollywood,, visited with us at lunch that same day.
Phil and I ten returned home, and the first thing I did was to soak my aching fee t

for a couple of days !
