DEAD HEADS Bianca Del Rio, dubbed “The Joan Rivers of the Drag World” by the New York Times, is bringing her “Dead Inside” tour to the Kravis Center’s Dreyfoos Concert Hall on Feb. 18. She cemented her place in the pop culture hall of fame since winning “RuPaul’s Drag Race” with her snarky frankness, impeccable timing, and politically incorrect humor. She says, “I’m coming out of my crypt and hitting the road again to remind everyone that I’m still dead inside! If you enjoy irreverent humor, like sparkly costumes, and are not easily offended … this is the show for you!” RONNIE LARSEN IS LOOKING FOR SEMEN Oh, that’s seamen with an a? Show time is 8 p.m. Award-winning drag artist Melissa St. John, often referred to as the First Lady of the Palm Beaches, has long been lauded for her ability to bring audiences to their feet during her performances. During her tribute show, St. John will be joined on stage by drag superstars and former Miss Florida F.I. Pageant winners Tiffany Arieagus, Velvet Lenore and Erika Norell as well as fan favorites Lupita Hollywood and Big Mama. St. John was recently recognized by OutSFL in their 2023 Your Choice Awards where St. John was voted the Palm Beaches Best Drag Performer, Best Entertainer and Best Artist. As a community leader, St. John has championed LGBTQ and civil rights, antiviolence initiatives, marriage equality and was the Palm Beach County Coordinator for the 2023 Drag Queen March in Tallahassee. Carlisle, who shot to stardom as a lead singer in the all-female band, The Go-Gos, will receive the Harvey Milk Medal and the annual event benefiting the Harvey Milk Foundation and Pride Center at Equality Park. Other honorees include Native American singer/songwriter/actor Spencer Battiest, businessman/philanthropist Mark Hunter Seymour, transgender activist Tatiana Williams and the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida. “What an amazing honor!” said Gabe Salazar, artistic director for GMCSF. “I’m so fortunate to work with such an amazing team of individuals.” A Texas native, Salazar started his tenure at the chorus with the organization attempting to rebuild from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Leading the 150-member chorus, Salazar said, has been a “fulfilling” experience. Belinda Carlisle. Photo by Andrew Hurley, via Wikimedia Commons.
