direcTor’S hindi debuT in november

mitabh Bachchan is all set to start working on director
Nagraj Manjule’s film Jhund, from November. The
Aactor will embark on the film with a non-stop schedule
in Nagpur, after wrapping up his ongoing game show, Kaun
Banega Crorepati.

In Jhund, Bachchan plays a professor who builds a soccer

team with street kids.

“I chose the city of Nagpur because the story is based there.
I wanted the look and feel to be as authentic as possible and
Nagpur has its own unique charm, feel and locales, different
from Mumbai and Pune. The language of the film would be
best showcased in Nagpur, hence I chose the lanes of that

city,” Manjule said in a statement.

The director said teaming up with Bachchan is a “dream
come true”.
“He has always been my favourite legend and there was
nobody other than him who fit the role perfectly and to do justice
to this particular character. In fact, the other people in the
film are all new and since I have
been known to work with fresh

talent, I think the combination
of Mr Bachchan with this young
team will be something to watch
out for,” Manjule added.

The total shoot duration is of
70-80 days, where Bachchan

will shoot for 45 days straight in
Nagpur.

The children, who are now
trained, will meet the actor and
rehearse with him for two-three
days before the shoot.

Sunny Leone wiLL perform on november 3 at the white orchid hoteL in
manyata tech park on outer ring road, bengaLuru.

Bollywood actor Sunny Leone is all set to give her first live
performance at a concert in Bengaluru later this year. And, pro-
Kannada activists seem to be already up in arms against her event.
A day after newspapers in the city reported the upcoming event,

Kannada activists announced that they will hold a massive protest
across the state demanding a total ban on the Bollywood star.
However, now they have softened their stance, allowing Sunny to
perform in the city but with one condition.

“We are not opposed to Sunny Leone performing in the city. She
is free to come to the city and perform but we are insisting that in
November, Kannada should be promoted,” Praveen Shetty, the
chief of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, told The News.

Last year, pro-Kannada and other fringe groups in Karnataka
opposed Sunny’s New Year night performance in Bengaluru
accusing her of being a potential threat to Kannada culture. The
controversy also found validation from the government. Then

Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy even directed the
police department to stop the actor from giving the performance.
“They have taken permission to conduct a programme. Let them
hold cultural activities like music, or Bharatanatyam not this

(Sunny’s performance),” Ramalinga Reddy had said.
Eventually, the controversy forced Sunny to back off, leading to
the cancellation of the entire show.
Almost a year later, the same organizers have scheduled Sunny
Leone’s performance in Bengaluru at the same venue. The
event will take place on November 3 at the White Orchid hotel
in Manyata Tech Park on Outer Ring Road. The organizers have
revealed that the concert will be mainly led by musician Raghu
Dixit’s performance and Sunny will give three dance performances,
including one on a Kannada song.

In an interview, ahead of her upcoming film Helicopter Eela, Kajol,
one of the most spontaneous actors in the industry, talks learning the
ropes of acting on set.
The actor lists down three films — her 1992 debut Bekhudi, Udhar

but that’s what drove me to take up these films as I learnt something
new every time as an actor,” Kajol says.
Bekhudi, directed by Rahul Rawail, marked Kajol’s entry in films and
the actor credits the movie for teaching her the basic essentials of
filmmaking – from facing the camera to gaining technical knowledge.
“I learnt so much on that film. Rahul uncle was one of the best
teachers in that aspect as far as the nuances were concerned. It was

Sharma and Dhawan, who are co-starring in the highly anticipated Sui Dhaaga,
directed by Sharat Katariya, also spoke about the role social media has played in
shaping their engagement with fans. Dhawan pointed out that while social media
can be highly manipulative, the moments of “pure fan love” make it worthwhile.
“It’s like what happened with our film Sui Dhaaga… The memes started on Mamta,
which is the character Anushka plays… I swear to God, it was all organic. It was
organic fan love. When something like that happens it’s a lot of fun,” he said.
Sharma, who has often found herself at the receiving end of online trolls, including
for her husband Virat Kohli’s performance on the cricket field, struck a less
enthusiastic note. While acknowledging that social media has made it easier
to have a “personal relationsip” with fans, she lamented the amount of hatred
encountered online. “Where is the accountability in what you’re saying? You’re
a nameless, figureless person who has the right to say anything, to vent out your
innermost darkness and demons on someone you don’t even know? That’s what
you’re subjected to.”
At the same time, she said, the trolling had also made her resilient. “Anyone can
come up and say the meanest thing to me right now and it won’t matter because of
the training that I’ve received from trolls,” she said. “Sometimes, when something
erupts on social media, my publicists get worried, and for a second, I get that pang
of nervousness. (But) suddenly, I’m like, I’ve dealt with worse.”

DIVYENDU SHARMA ON

RETURNING TO

PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA:

IF LIQUID COMES BACK TO ME,

I’LL TAKE IT

ivyendu Sharma did not want to limit himself as a comic actor post
his debut in Pyar Ka Punchnama but believes now would be a
Dfun time to revisit the franchise. Divyendu, who became famous
for playing Liquid in Luv Ranjan’s buddy-comedy, said he decided for a

genre change being fully aware of the popularity of the series.
The actor did not return in the follow-up to the 2011 film as he feels he
had nothing new to offer to the character. “I didn’t want to do comedy back
to back. I thought I would be slotted in the genre and hence I decided to
take a break, explore other stuff. I had given my all to Liquid. I was aware
I am saying ‘no’ to a hit franchise.
“It was a hard choice to make but I knew I had to branch out.
If I come back to that character today, I know it will be very
interesting. Since I have explored the other side and shown

people, they won’t say ‘I only do this.’ If Liquid comes back to
me, I will take it,” Divyendu said.
The sequel had Kartik Aaryan, Sonnalli Seygall, Ishita Raj
Sharma and Nushrat Bharucha, who were part of the first
film.

The actor said his decision to take up different roles stemmed

from the fact that he did not want to play safe.

“When your first two films (other beings Chashme Baddoor)
are hit comedies, people like to see you more in that genre.
They come up with big films, big money, which might be a
safe choice to pick. But I didn’t come here to do that. I want
to play different characters.

“It becomes difficult to say ‘no’ and sometimes people take it

to their ego. It takes a lot of guts to say ‘no’ to films which you
know would become hit but I’m not afraid.”

Divyendu will be next seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, his

t the trailer launch of Baazaar, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan remarked that he wants to choose exciting roles and likes challenging himself
as an actor. He said, “I don’t think of my work anymore as business, where I am trying to make money. By the grace of God, I feel secure. I
Awant to choose exciting roles and I want to challenge myself. I want to do exciting things. It’s such a great time for movies. The kind of roles
that one is offered are so different from what they used to be. We are looking at the future. We are pushing boundaries. So, it’s nice to reinvent.”
The actor stands out in the trailer of Baazaar and according to Saif, he is better than ever as an actor.

“I feel, as an actor, I am better than ever and more interested than I have ever been. I am also learning new things. I am getting better every day
and I am enjoying the growth that’s happening,” Saif Ali
Khan said during a media interaction at the trailer launch
of Bazaar.
Since Baazaar is about a Gujarati businessman who
only has money on his mind, Saif was asked about
his thoughts about big businessmen like Mehul Choksi
and Vijay Mallya stealing money and running to other
countries.

He said, “It is terrible. It is horrible. We want less
corruption, less scams. We have a very honest line of
work. We try to make films, we try to sell films. Most
of the times the press catches movie stars to make
examples of. You should catch these guys and lambast
them every day. Seriously, you should, you know. We are
nothing, but small people. The big game is happening
somewhere else. We don’t know what the game is. And
people say that this one did this, this one did that, and the
people are happy. It is like a dustbin. Some celebrities,
you know. You get happy with that. You need people to
blame but the real people who should be blamed are the
ones who are stealing your money.”

Directed by Gauravv K. Chawla, Baazaar is scheduled to
release on October 26. Along with Saif Ali Khan, the film
stars Radhika Apte, Chitrangada Singh and debutant
Rohan Mehra, son of late actor Vinod Mehra.

Along with the photo, Karan has written, “The biggest BLOCKBUSTER

Tposter, Katrina can be seen posing on a stage in front of
an audience.

According to the makers, Katrina “plays the role of an outrageously
beautiful performer Suraiyya in Thugs of Hindostan. Suraiyya is
the most gorgeous girl in British India who makes every man go
weak in their knees. She is the best dancer of the country that

people throng to watch.”
From this character introduction, we can be sure that Katrina
will surely be seen in a great dance number in the film. She had
earlier shot for a song with Prabhudheva for Thugs of Hindostan.

Sharing the teaser on Twitter, Yash Raj Films wrote, “She’s
coming to make the entire Hindostan go weak in the knees.

Aamir Khan also tweeted about Katrina Kaif’s character and

wrote,
This can be loosely translated as “Suraiyya love… the most

I could never express it then. If someone would be kind enough

Apart from Katrina Kaif, Thugs of Hindostan also stars

Rspread like a wild fire. Earlier, it was reported that the two will tie the knot at Lake Como in Italy, fresh reports suggests that the duo
has pushed their wedding date to early months of 2019. There is no clarity on this as well. But when DNA thought of getting a clarification on
the same from Ranveer’s close friend and actor Arjun Kapoor, he too diverted the topic in a hilarious manner. That’s the only thing we can

expect Arjun - dodging the questions like a pro!
Instead of revealing the details of DeepVeer’s marriage,

overwhelmed with the love you are getting,” the actor says.
If stardom comes along with enviable perks, it also brings with it mammoth,
nerve-wracking expectations from the audience and the industry who want you to
keep the magic rolling. But for Vicky expectations are something he enjoys.
“When you take this journey of becoming an actor, there are only destinations –
one where people give you that limelight and expect the world from you, and two,
they don’t know who you are and they don’t care what you are doing. You have to
choose where you want to go. I have worked hard to reach here. I wanted them to
expect good things from me. I wanted them to have an image of me.
“Expectations don’t scare me because I have worked towards them. I want people
to expect better things from me with every film. I never want to be in a position
where they don’t expect anything from me. I want to be in a position where if they
are expecting sun from me, at least I will be able to reach the moon,” he says.
As the actor talks about his journey, Anurag Kashyap’s mention is inevitable. Much
before his debut as a lead actor, Vicky assisted Anurag for a couple of years, in-
cluding on Bombay Velvet in which he also had a cameo.
The mentor-prodigee relationship has now turned into a friendship.
“Anurag sir and I have had a beautiful journey as human beings. It’s been from
him being my mentor to now being my buddy, I was scared when I thought I was
working with my mentor. I am very much at ease when I know I am working with
