President’s Message
I saw this meme last year that read: “2021, come
on in, sit down and don't touch nothing.” This tickled
me and obviously 2021 cuz she didn't listen AT ALL....
So 2022, do you plan to sat down?????
Well, no matter what 2022 chooses to do or not
to do, it's resolution time. What are you resolved to
do? I know many of us are all ready to get in shape-get
snatched, earn more money-run me my coins, or see
some old dreams and new visions brought to past
finally. Some of you are like me, just say no to
resolutions because by January 15, I done tapped out.
HAHAHA!!!
One thing I realized is that in order for any
resolution to be successful, we must first be
resolved. We must be intentional, clear of purpose,
present in the small moments that make up any
resolution that we make.
This year, as we start 2022, let's purpose in our
heart to be intentional and highly engaged Mother
members of Jack and Jill of America, Gary chapter;
resolved to see the best, expect the best and to offer
grace just in case, and purposeful in our commitment
to our surrounding and global
Communities in need. This a resolution
that I don't plan quitting by January
15th. Moms, we can do this!!!

In consultation with and support of the Regional Directors:
1. Vaccination Exemptions - The National Executive Board has decided exemption
requests from Mothers on their behalf and/or on behalf of children and teens will not be
accepted. We understand for some this news is disappointing. However, after much
deliberation, we have decided to maintain the vaccination requirements for regional and
national events.
2. Testing Requirements - The National Executive Board decided to implement a testing
requirement for regional and national events. Members and Guests must present a
negative test (either lab or rapid) within 72 hours before the event. We are working on
developing procedures, which will include a decision on the type of test that must be
submitted i.e., PCR and/or antigen. We will publish the procedures as soon as possible.
The testing requirement and all published procedures will be effective February 15, 2022.
As such, please consider this as you register for events occurring after February 15,
2022.
3. Events sponsored by 2 or more chapters - If two or more chapters come together to
host an event it will be treated as a regional event. As a result, all vaccination and testing

Premature birth is the leading cause of death in children under the age of
five worldwide. Each month, 33,000 babies will be born preterm in the
United States and preterm birth rates in our country continue to rise. On
November 17, chapter members wore purple to raise awareness about
health equity and infant health across the U.S.
During November Group 3 was able to
serve the Northwest Indiana Veterans in
honor of Veteran’s Day by purchasing
cold weather accessories for the local
veterans. They also spent time writing
them letters of thanks for their service
before enjoying a fun filled afternoon at
Jak’s Warehouse together.
In November, Groups 1 and 2
shopped for items to make
gift bags for the children at
Jacob’s Ladder Pediatric
Rehabilitation Center.
Jacob’s Ladder provides
comprehensive therapy and
supplemental care for
children in need.
Our Teens
were able to
spend November
collecting food to
feed 6 families for
the
Thanksgiving
holiday.
Great work
Teens!
This fall the Foundation Committee secured a private viewing of
King Richard for the chapter and guests. This fun family event was
a successful fundraiser and opportunity for our Jacks and Jills to
learn about the importance of making a plan and working together
as a family to achieve their goals. Kudos to Foundation Chair
Walker and her team for an event well done.

Scarlett Edge was elected the 3rd Grade Representative for
the Forest Ridge Academy Student Council. Her platform was
centered around making sure the voices of 3rd graders were heard.
She is passionate about partnering with the administration to ensure
lower grades are a part of student body decisions and activities.
As a true future President, Scarlett knows the importance of
reaching across the aisle and also being a great classmate and friend.
After her win, Scarlett sent a letter to her opponent celebrating her
spirited campaign and asked her to work alongside her to tackle the
3rd grade concerns. She even gifted her a holiday mug filled with
goodies!
