SECONDARY WAI KRU
พิธไี หวค้ รรู ะดับมธั ยมศึกษา

On the Thursday the 13th the school celebrated Wai Kru Day. The students spent 2 periods making the flower
trays to present to their teachers. The flower trays were all very well done and very beautiful. Everybody
then went to the Auditorium for the function. The event was especially special as there were 7 awards that
were handed out that came from the King to recognise the contribution that teachers had made. 6 were
current teachers at KKVS and A Nan, a former teacher who is on sick leave from her school, also attended.
A Ning, A Kluey, A Jum, A Nat, A Jane and A Ae all received the special award.
After this Ajaan Ratanaporn blessed some books to represent the learning that the students are doing and
then class representatives presented their flower trays to the teachers. The students all recited an aoth the
commit to being good students and then they all went to their teachers for a blessing. The event finished
with a speech from A Ratanaporn.

The Secondary 6 class ran an orientation afternoon on the 6th
of August to welcome all the students to Secondary this year.
They totally ran the event and did a very good job. They organized
Tee Shirts for everyone and had lots of fun activities for the students
to enjoy. The function was held in the Auditorium. Well done

On the 20th of August the senior Secondary students, along with A Choong and the Science Department
held the annual Science Day activities. They set up stations in the Auditorium for students to experience
many aspects of science ranging from astronomy to chemistry to electricity and e-games. The emphasis
was having a hands on experience for the students. In the morning the Junior Secondary and Kindergarten
classes went through the displays and in the afternoon they hosted the Primary Department. Many thanks
to the hard work and input from the Science Team and the Senior Students. The day was a great success.

MOTHER’S DAY / KING’S MOTHERS BIRTHDAY
พิธีวนั แม่และวนั แม่แห่งชาติระดบั มัธยมศึกษา

Mother’s Day was celebrated on Tuesday the 11th and unfortunately because of the Covid restrictions
parents and especially mothers were not able to attend this year. The event started with the presenta-
tion of the new school heads to the school. A Ratanaporn presented medals to Amanda and Peter,
the school heads for 2020. Ajaan Ratanporn then spoke of the roles of mothers in Thailand and that it
was important to respect and honour them. A video presentation on the life of the King’s Mother was
shown. The school band played while the students sang some songs for the King’s Mother. There were
dance items by Primary 1 and also a Secondary girls traditional Thai Dance. Poem winners from Primary
and secondary read their poems out for the school. Also on display was work that students had done
in Mother’s Day competitions during the week.

A. Peter’s S4 and S5 English students are studying the classic novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
Our task was to write a diary entry in the character of one of the boys from the story. We had to
describe the island we had just crash landed onto as well as our hopes and fears at the end of our

Staying on a private island, with a glamorous view of light blue sky cut by shade of dark blue and green of the
endless sea, might be a dream of a lot of people but not for me in this situation. Imagine being on a private
island so far away where no one can see without any adults, just a group of kids, would you still want to be
here?
This morning, I woke up in the jungle of somewhere in the world with no idea. The only thing that I can re-
member is the picture of the plane, where I was sitting, was surrounded with fire and if my presumption is
right our plane would have crashed.
I started to search for other survivors and fortuitous that I found “Ralph” as the first person. He looks smart,
dexterous and athletic, the opposite of me, who looks clumsy, unsightly and has asthma. We walked through
the jungle and by the lead of Ralph, we can find a beach!
Ralph suddenly got into the water and started to swim, he said that his dad is a navy so he taught him to
swim since he was five. I’m a bit jealous of him. I have asthma so my auntie did not allow me to swim or
even run, moreover that my dad’s died.
While we were playing in the water (even though all I had done was just sitting still in the water) Ralph found
a conch. We decided to use it to call other people on the island and it was very successful. Immediately, af-
ter Ralph blew it nicely for the first time, a kid named Johnny, followed by a twin named Sam and Eric. Many
kids kept coming to join us, while Ralph kept blowing the conch and finally the last group of kids arrived, they
looked like a group of some anomalous creed, the leader of them is Jack.
There is more story to write but Ralph is calling me already so I’ll be back to you soon, my diary.

Day 1
Our first day from home, Britain, something unexpected happened. The plane crashed in this beautiful place,
I suspect an island, and we are all stranded here on this tropical island, all the boys I remember on the plane
are healthy and uninjured but the pilot is nowhere to be seen, I’m guessing he died in the crash, but I’m not
going to let them know, they can’t panic more than they are because they must know this is our new home
now, so we all survive.
Walking along the shore was reassuring that this island is ours, no grownups, no one to bother us – this will
be fun. Piggy’s been good company, I feel he would be a good companion, he’s smart, and how I know that
is what he found.
“Hey, Ralph! I’ve found a conch – my Auntie had one of these!”
“What’s a Conch?”
“Just come look, this will be useful getting everybody’s attention on us.”
I turn around, thinking it’s just going to be some abnormally large shell, but the thing glistens and shines with
a white silvery gold; it’s huge and has a shape of something a microphone should hold resemblance to.
Piggy blows into it before I can get close enough to touch it, and the sound was deep and deafening, the
sound was so loud I heard it echo through the darkness of the forest, the birds fluttering away and beasts
peeking under the shadows of un-liberated trees.
The boys started to emerge from around the beach and trees after hearing Piggy’s first blast from the Conch,
but I also tried to use it, the taste on my lips salty and strong, being so thirsty has made my senses heighten
to where it salt water stings feeling.
We had a meeting with all boys of the island, their clothes dark on the edges, the flames on the wings of the
plane as they were shot, smoking the entire cabin, I can even smell it off their shirts, the choir boys though
have got rid of the robes and just wearing shorts.
We started to introduce ourselves to each other, even though when we had crashed, we just went to the
people we knew and explored ourselves, but now knowing everyone we need some sort of leader, someone
to give guidance.
This boy named Jack was quite open to the idea of being some leader, his choir adamant of him leading us
all, but they are just being obedient, but also myself showing interest in it, showing the Conch, that it resem-
bles something like responsibility, and so they pick me for it with enthusiasm.
Jack was not so happy with it I could tell, his face even more frustrated than it was before, angry. I don’t
want to make early enemies, giving him responsibility to making the choir boys his hunters. Jack tasks them
with finding wood to keep a fire blazing all throughout us being stranded, and finding animals to make sure
we don’t starve, but first they need to prepare themselves.
The choir boys have gathered wood to create a pile on top of a hill, but no matches or lighters; we have
some obstacles to overcome.
“I’ve got an idea!”
“And what’s that, Piggy?”
“My glasses, they’re magnified right? So, I’m guessing we can use ‘em to light the flame.”

He’s clever.
The night starts to fall on us, the fire keeping us warm and lighting up our surroundings, we build a thing to
cook the animals we find. We also went into the forest, looking for fresh water to drink and lucky enough
we found a lagoon.
We all start drinking from it, some of the boys jumping in a different section to clean themselves, the water
a crystal blue, the smell is freshening before I even reach it.
The rest of the night we sleep on the hill near the campfire as protection from the beasts, and I spend my
time writing in this diary, hopefully one day I can return and this diary becomes a story I can look back on.

PIGGY’S DIARY BY AON JIDAPA TOONPRAKHON

Dear diary,
Today was an extremely terrible day, yet somehow also miraculous. The bad part was that our plane crashed
and the lucky part was that I somehow survived. Fortunately, I wasn’t the only one who was still alive here
at this strange place – of course, that would be the worst nightmare ever! After struggling through a lot of
creepers and some thorns that scratched my entire body, I finally met this guy. His name was Ralph. We got
into a conversation, well, more like I tried to talk while he kept ignoring me. I told him my school nickname,
which was ‘Piggy’, but immediately regretted it.
We assumed that the pilot was probably dead and that this place was an island. Our surrounding was full of
trees, all covered in green here and there. There was a beach outside of the forest, so gorgeous, shimmery,
yet the vast deep blue sea made me worried.
Ralph and I found a useful platform with shades from the palm trees. We spotted a thing, so creamy that
it distinctly stood out. It was a shell thing I’ve seen before . If I wasn’t wrong, they called it a conch. I told
Ralph how I heard people could blow the thing and made a great sound. Despite struggling at first, Ralph
successfully blasted a loud sound that called other survivors. For this part, I shall make a list of the names
so that Ralph wouldn’t blame me again when something bad happens. These are the kids’ names I recognize
so far; Johnny, Jack, Roger, Bill, Robert, Harold, Henry, Simon, Maurice, Eric, and Sam (They are twins). After
winning the leader vote, Ralph then went to explore the island with Jack and Simon. Although I felt left out,
I still had to look after the littluns.
We are really on an island with not a single sign of life. That fact already made me terrified, but everything got
worse when someone suggested we should make a fire. Everything was chaotic, everyone went crazy! Ralph
even snatched my specs to light the fire. I had a problem shouting for attention so bad even there was the
conch in my hands, even that meant I have the right to speak. It was far too late when they finally listened
to me; the blaze had consumed parts of the forest. But what made my blood run cold, was the absence of
the kid with a mark on his face. What was the worst that can happen? I don’t even want to guess.
Oh God, I genuinely wish everything will get better. I hope we all get rescued very soon.

Our plane had a crash landing on an island (luckily). I manoeuvred my way out of the rubble and what was
left of my side of the plane. I noticed that another boy emerged from the wreckage too. I started to walk in
a random direction while trying to compose myself as I wandered.
I hear a scuffle behind me and a light thud as flesh hit the thick grass behind me, I knew it was the overweight
boy from the plane that had stumbled behind me. I paid him no mind and didn’t even falter as I continued

walking in search of something anything that would help me in this situation, the necessities came to mind
from a survival show I used to watch (food, water, fire and shelter), but if I find people they could probably
help us out and send us on our way back to England.
My train of thought was disrupted by a voice in the distance ‘My names Peterkin, Peter for short. What’s your
na-’, I cut him off with a cry of relief as we broke through the thicket of the forest; On to a sandy beach with
the cool air of the sea slapping our faces and a rush of glee went over me. ‘We should walk along the beach
until we find something useful or of interest, odds are we’re stuck on an island whether its got inhabitants
or not is unclear’.
He listened without question, didn’t even hesitate to follow me along the beach whether it was because he
was scared to be alone, agreed with my plan or just easily manipulated I don’t know yet. I’d better get him
on my good side especially since he might be the only other person on this godforsaken island. I’m running
out of room in this book as it has been filled with what seems to be algebra work. Hopefully, I find some
other books or methods of documenting our stay on this island.

PIGGY’S DIARY BY LARA METHAPORN RICARDO

Some parts of the plane were on fire. Everyone on the plane starts panicking. There was a big crowned adult
screaming and yelling like a voice from hell. I was standing in the middle of the screaming. Suddenly, in
my head, everything pauses, I closed my eyes. It was black and silent. It stayed silent for a moment. Until I
opened my eyes, I realized that I was holding onto something and there was a voice, a kid’s voice, screaming
for help. Lucky me , my spectacles didn’t get any damages and I don’t have asthma at that time.
As we were floating in the middle of the lagoon for a long time we finally found the edge of the lagoon. I
used all of my strength to drag my body out of the water. Our school uniform was hardly wet and the front
half of my body was covered by a mud of sand. Many of us survive from this plane crash and find ourselves
lost on an uninhabited island, where they are alone with no fastidious adults observation.
I was one of the first two boys who got introduced first. Ralph introduced himself first because he’s the
oldest child in the group and followed by me. Ralph was a handsome and confident kid. He won the elec-
tion to be a leader in the choir, but he knew that Jack not really happy with this election, so he decided to
divide us in to two groups, Jake’s hunters team and Ralph’s team. And me, I was proud to present myself, I
was the only person in the choir who wore spectacles and had asthma which a few people can have. I think
the above gave me this for a reason, however I can’t do lots of tough things because it would cause me a
difficulty in my respiratory system. That’s why I can’t join Jake’s hunter team.

ASEAN DAY วนั อาเซยี น

Last week we celebrated ASEAN Day with a lot of activities that included quizzes, speeches and art
presentations. The goal was to highlight the importance of ASEAN and to make the students aware of
what this involved. A special display was set up for the students to look at and learn from. Many thanks
go to A Nui and A Air for their work running this activity.

TUD BARD พิธีท�ำ บญุ ตักบาตร

On the 8th of August at 6.30 we held a Tud Bard Ceremony to bless the school for the new school year and
also to bless the new buildings [the Auditorium, the new Office Block and the new Primary/Kindergarten Rooms]
5 monks came and performed the ceremony for us. We were lucky to get a famous and well known monk
to lead the ceremony. Thank you very much to the organisers of this event.

PRIMARY SPORT กีฬาประถม

This year the students in Primary have a Physical Education lesson and a Sport period. The sport period is
separate for Junior primary (Primary 1 to 3) and Senior primary (Primary 4 to 6). This period gives students
an extra period of physical activity each week as well as teaching team-work and putting into practice the
skills they learn in their PE class. Here are some great photos!

On August 6, 2020, Primary 5 and 6 planted the rice together in the field behind our school. The children
were fully equipped with their clothes and hearts, ready for the mud! In this activity, A. Ae invited our
workers Uncle Uan and Uncle Thawin to help explain and plant with us. Children were concentrating and
enjoying farming with friends. There was laughter and happy chatting. After we had been farming, it rained
as well. This makes our rice plants now very strong and growing.

KINNEDWESRLGEATRTETERN

On Thursday August 13th, Kindergarten held a very special Wai Kru Day. In the morning the children helped the
teachers to make beautiful flower trays to present to Ajarn Mike, Ajarn Mia and Ajarn Jumpee. All the Kindergarten
children and teachers came together and took part in the ceremony. The children prayed and listened to the stu-
dent’s declaration and then 2 representatives from each class presented their trays to the head teachers. After
the ceremony the children went back to their individual classes to present their flowers to their class teachers.
Thank you to all the families who kindly sent to school flowers for the children to use to make the trays.
