There are always some weeks in the kitchen when you know that the dishes will be a celebration of good food and
amazing fresh produce. Last week was one of those, featuring a delicious dish of potato and parmesan gnocchi
(always so much fun to make), ratatouille (no, it does NOT contain rats!), and a dessert of shortbread biscuits with a
pomegranate and yoghurt dip.
The students had lots of fun making the gnocchi in particular, and chopping all the delicious vegies for the ratatouille,
including homegrown zucchini, eggplant (thanks to Mrs Hook), masses of home grown tomatoes, beans and garlic and
some donated onions also. Served over the freshly cooked gnocchi, this was a truly delicious repast.
Students have worked really hard this term to keep their kitchen clean, tidy and organised as well as working hard on
presenting their dishes in an appetising and attractive fashion. The final points for the "Outstanding Class of the Term"
are being accumulated in secret this week, and all grades are running neck and neck to the finish line. Congratulations
in advance to the winning grade - looking forward to some truly wicked ice cream sundaes for the successful grade.
Students have also been helping Heath Lewis work on finishing our new garden beds, and while progress is slow, it is
coming along nicely. Thanks so much in particular to Heath and Jenny Lewis for their tireless efforts. The entire school
community has gotten behind this project and when completed, it will be amazing!

EARTH HOUR 2016

This Friday the 18th of March Tooradin Primary School will be joining in the world wide celebration of
School’s Earth Hour. Classrooms will be switching off all electrical devices between 2.30-3.30pm
and discussing how reducing our use of electricity has a positive impact on our planet and that each
of us can make difference at school and at home. If your family would like to become a part of this
global effort to highlight the need to reduce fossil fuel consumption please visit
www.earthhour.org.au to register for the big event on Saturday night. Our planet is an amazing
place so let’s all work together to treasure it and sustain it for future generations.
