- Sun Kissed Discoveries (237)
- School is to me one of the worst inventions i history. School is beneficial but

its draining and it's stressful. Summer on the other hand is one of the best
times in a person's life. It's a time when they get to build friendships and
make new friends. It a time when kids get to see their friends that they would
normally not get to see because of school. In the summertime, I stay out and
hangout with my friends. I make and create art that i don’t normally have
time to do. In the summertime, families also grow stronger. THey take family
vacations that allow them to build a stronger bond with each other and they
get to laugh and spend time with each other without the stress of time. In
summer you don’t have to worry about the time. Parents don’t have to stress
out about their kids staying up too long and they don't have to cut things
short because of time. I feel like in summer, time doesn’t exist. Summer also
brings warm weather and in warm weather, we can swim. When im
swimming, i feel like there is nothing that can get in my way. I feel free and i
feel like i am floating in space. In the summertime, i think kids are able to be

more creative and by being creative, i think we learn more and more about
ourselves.

- Bring On The Jello (238)
- I love being the daughter of campus ministers. My mom works out at UIS

with a bunch of college students and with colleges students come some fun
time. Every ear my mom throws this big party called the Jello olympics. At
the jello olympics, we do many activities with jello and every year i get to
play and help out. I remember one year at the Jello Olympics i was play a
game where i had to take one pan of jello and give it to someone else only
using my feet and in the middle of the challenge, a bunch of the UIS campus
leader found us and were so interested in the activity that they decided to
join up. This was a fun memory because the people that joined were
important people that had just come back forma meeting on the campus on
how to run the campus. Jello olympics will remain one of the most important
and fun traditions i my family for years to come. This is an important
tradition because ever since i came to the us, my sisters and i would help
make the jello and help set up the games and even sometimes judge the
outcome to the races. I felt like this fundrases was not only for the adults but
also for me and my sisters. I got to grow closer to my sisters and my parents
though Jello Olympics.

- My grandmother loves animals. She loves rescuing thema and teaching
people about all the different types of species we live with. Before she moved
to her new house she used to live on a far in Bloomington. She trained and
kept horses and she loved every second of it. One day my sisters and my
grandpa went to the movies, when we got back my grandma went on and on
about how she wanted another horse. Strangely, my grandma was the type
of person that does things without thinking too hard about them because she
told us “ the more you think about doing something, The more you convince
yourself of not doing it” so the nest day she pulled us into the kitchen, gave
me and my sisters a cooking and told my grandpa to take a seat. After she
talked for a second, we hear a truck pull into driveway. From the moment
my grandpa saw the truck he knew what it was. My grandma had bought
another horse. HSe told us the horse she bought was for us. We were to name
her and we were to bother her and feed her so that's what we did. The next
month we went to her house and we learned how to ride her. That's when we
decided to name our horse summer.

Sophia’s blood show​ er (245)
- My sister sophia is a trickster. She loves teasing me and sometimes getting

me into trouble just for a laugh. One day i had come home for a hard
workout for tennis and i was so tired that i almost passed out. My sister
sarah wasn’t home so sophia had a friend over. I was going to take a shower

because i was so hot and sore but i couldn’t because my sister and her friend
were in my bathroom so i decided to eat a sandwich. After i got done with my
sandwich, i went to see if they were done yet but they weren't so I waited.
After hey were done i went for a shown. I turned on the bottom fosit to the
tub to get the right temperature and then i went in the shower. When i
turned on the top part of the shower, red liquid started pouring out of the
shower head. I was freaking out because i thought it was my blood but i
knew it wasn’t. It was in my hair and on the soap and on the walls. The
whole bathroom shower looked like a murder scene. Once i calmed myself
down and started thinking, i realized that it smelled like kool aid and that's
when i knew my sister had done this. The whole time they were in the
bathroom, they weren’t doing face masks or painting their nails, they were
setting up a prank.

stuffing(213)
I love thanksgiving. It's a time to remember what's important and we got to
celebrate the people we love by spending time with them. I ny family
everyone is always in charge of one thing. They get to pick the thing they get
to make and no one can have the same thing. This allows us all to have role
in the meal and for all of us to be a part of the celebration in our own way.
Every year i'm in charge of the stuffing. The reason i always get stuffing is
because 1. I Love stuffing out of all of the foods at the dinner. 2. I get the

stuffing because no one i mean no one will be bupping any fruit in the
stuffing if im their and i know if i let my grandmother or my mother make
the stuffing, they will add raisins and grapes or other strange fruits in a
mean. For one, it's not a fruit salad so let's leave them out of it. I think the
reason i love stuffing so much is because of my ethiopian and mediterranean
background. In my culture there are many stuffing equivalents incorporated
in the daily meal so i think that the reason I love stuffing so much.
