producing a series of works by tempera-painting on linen, including
portraits and altarpieces. In 1506 he had returned to Venice and stayed
there until 1507, where his journey had begun. The picture that Durer had

summer of 1520, Durer to secure new patronage following the death of
Maximilian and a outbreak of sickness in Nuremberg, gave occasion to his
fourth and last journey. He had journey by the rhine, cologne, and then to

He finally returned home in July 1521 having caught an determined illness
which afflicted him for the rest of his life. Many preliminary sketches and
studies to survive, Through having little natural gift for writing, he works. In
one of his paintings there was a portrait of Hieronymus Holtxchuler of
madonna and a child [1526] and two panels showing with St. Mark's in the
background. In copper-engraving Durer, produced only a number of

out of marble.” “That must have been hard to carve. So, at what age did
you carve the ‘Pieta’?” “I carved my ‘Pieta’ at age 24.” “ Well, then you
must have been really talented to carve at that age. Now, what did the
‘Pieta’ represent or show?” “The ‘Pieta’ shows Mary holding Jesus on her
lap after being crucified.” “ Well, then, what are your two other famous
sculptures and what was their height?” “ My other two famous sculptures
