Prepared for :
Dr. Myzan Noor

Assalamualaikum and good day! My name is Noraqilah Binti Mohamed
Noor. Dr. Myzan Noor gave me this task on an individual basis. The goal
of this assignment is to improve my knowledge and comprehension of
aesthetic appreciation in the arts, civilizations, people, and nature.

I chose to visit The National Art Gallery to complete this
assignment. This building has distinctive architectural features located
between the Istana Budaya and the National Library of Malaysia. Its
location is also not far from the Petronas Twin Towers and the Putra
World Trade Centre (PWTC). The National Art Gallery building contains
six galleries, a workshop and creative building, a resource centre, an
auditorium that holds 144 seats and the National Art Gallery
administration office.

My research was incredibly engrossing and fascinating
because I learned about numerous intriguing arts from throughout
the country. Painting is one of the artistic mediums used to transmit
one's feelings, emotions, fantasies, and expressions.

Mohd. Yusof b. Ismail

Mohd. Yusof b. Ismail Every painting by Mohd. Yusof b. Ismail,
Landscape Series commonly known as Yusof Gajah,
2005 included an elephant as its central subject.
Oil paint and acrylic on This picture, in my opinion, is so vibrant
canvas and detailed that viewing it will never get
122.3 x 76.6 cm old.

Regardless of the variety of animals drawn,
the elephant blowing water from its nose
stands out as the subject of this painting.
The artist's message to depict these
animals happy in their own habitat is
successfully conveyed in a fun way.

Sylvia Lee Goh Sylvia Lee Goh
Nyonya Caks
1990 Sylvia Lee Goh believes that each painting
Oil on board must have a story.
54 x 74 cm This painting is rich in customs and
traditions that the painter wants to
convey, namely Nyonya’s kuih.

From this painting, we can see Sylvia
paints from the heart as this painting
touches us with its very realistic features
so that we seem to be able to taste the
kuihs in the painting.
The Kuih Lapis and Kuih Talam stands out
deliciously in its details as it was inviting
us to eat it.

Lee Boon Wang Lee Boon Wang
Pekerja-Pekerja
1955 At first look, the painter chose a
Oil on canvas straightforward, understandable realistic
82.5 x 96.5 cm style to show a crew of workers
constructing a road in the sweltering
weather.

In my opinion, from this painting, I can
hear there was a loud, jarring sound of
metal striking stones.
The worker with the stooped back and
two hands working the stone crusher
amid the dust and ashes, specifically, had
a pair of huge sad eyes and a dull and
sorrowful look.

Helmi Azam Tajol Aris

Helmi Azam Tajol Aris This work borrows one of the elements of
Sudah Terang Lagi shadow puppet (wayang kulit) where this
Bersuluh work has two sides of view, namely the
2010 front view and the back view (tok dalang).
Mixed
213 x 152 cm

In my opinion, it is creative of the artist to
use UV light, as a symbol of the true and
false world and is usually used to detect
counterfeit money, passports or cards
identification.
The main subject of the work is the figure
of the man at the same time shooting the
creature that comes out of the light with
his gun.

Othman Mansor

Othman Mansor It is obvious from this artwork what
Fantasi Dalam Perpektif Othman Mansor wants to say about
Getah patriotism and politics. The artist creates a
1975 collage artwork using a variety of rubber
Acrylic and collage on material that appear to be in a box.
canvas
160 x 160.5 cm

In my opinion, the artist's message to
convey that Malaysia can produce various
products from rubber materials was
successfully delivered.
The overflowing rubber is the main
subject of this painting in accordance with
the title decorated with colours and
techniques that comes to life.

Yong Poh Sang Yong Poh Sang
Jambatan Kayu
1961 This Wooden Bridge Painting is a painting
Oil on board that depicts a wooden bridge in a fishing
80 x 39.5 cm village that gives a feeling of sorrow and
gloomy even though the colours used are
cheerful colours

In my opinion, although this drawing only
gives a rough view with line drawings, the
perspective that is trying to be conveyed
by the artist can be delivered well.
It can be seen a red sampan by the
wooden bridge which provides a counter
element in the painting but still does not
change the wooden bridge as the main
subject

Khairudin Abdul Hamid

Khairudin Abdul Hamid The realistic painting of the Crocodile Cave
Gua Buaya located in the Sungai Kilim area is so
2007 breathtaking that it can be considered
Paper, glue and acrylic real.
on canvas
91 x 152 cm

In my opinion, the amount of details put in
this painting is immaculate. The longer
you stare at this painting, more details you
will discover from the water to the caves
stone.
This painting is very calming when viewed
and it is as if we are there feeling the
breeze of the sea ourselves.

Mat Dollah Mat Dollah
Kingdom 2
2005 Matt Dollah creates powerful works of art.
Batik His use of "fire" hues, such as wild reds and
245 x 229 cm bare yellows, symbolises distinct
personality. However, there are also
fantastical depictions of local myth,
tradition, and modernism inside the same
frames.

The images he made are dotted, lined, and
cracked with wax, as well as using a variety
of colour application techniques.
That is what sets Matt Dollah's batik apart
from the conventional ones

Chia Yu Chian Chia Yu Chian
Jalan Yap Ah Loy
1985 Chia Yu Chian's Jalan Yap Ah Loy depicts a
Oil on canvas bustling KL street with Chinese shops
68.5 x 89.5 cm housed in colonial buildings, traffic, out-of-
date black and yellow cabs, and a view of
city life in the 1980s.

In my opinion, the stylized aesthetic with
bold, graphic outlines in black and the use
of white to create strong contrast, creating
a visual effect much like batik.
Chia's ability to elevate common and
unremarkable spaces such as roadside
shops, buildings and vehicles into
important landmarks.

Ahmad Shukri Mohamed

Ahmad Shukri Mohamed In Ahmad Shukri Mohamed’s works, there
Camouflage #21 is a departure from the immaculacy of
2002-2003 painting on canvas towards texture, three-
Mixed media on canvas dimensionality, and mixed media.
173 x 172 cm

Another key feature in Ahmad Shukri’s
work is the artist’s choice of popular
imagery and recognizable motifs.
Commonplace icons and motifs like the
dragonfly allow him to connect with his
audiences.

down their crayons ”
