Attention All Eighth Grade Parents
The eighth grade graduation ceremony will be held at Intermediate South’s
gymnasium on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 3:30 P.M. Reporting time for graduates is 2:30
P.M. Graduates will assemble in a designated classroom provided to them during
graduation rehearsal. Graduation rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. That
day, each graduate will receive three tickets for admission to the ceremony. On graduation
day, there will be additional seating available in the cafetorium. The cafetorium will have a
live video feed of the ceremony for non-ticketed guests.
Graduates are asked to bring their gowns to the Intermediate South graduation
ceremony on a hanger. Clothing under the gown and footwear should be appropriate for the
ceremony. Boys should wear pants and a collared shirt. Girls should wear dresses/skirts.
(No flip flops or sneakers, please)
If you are driving and dropping off a graduate, please enter from Pinewald Road
using the main entrance (doors #1 & #25) or the back entrance (door #17). All guests
should enter the MAIN ENTRANCE ONLY (doors #1 & #25). Additional parking will
be available across the street at the Beachwood Municipal Building, the soccer field
parking lot and cross streets to Cherry Street. If you need handicap parking, please contact
the Main Office. This will help prepare additional spaces if necessary. Beachwood police
will only recognize state issued handicap license plates or hang tags.
Please provide ample time to drop off, park and enter the ceremony.

It seems like only yesterday we were beginning the 2012-2013 school year and now we will be waving
goodbye to our 8th graders as they embark on a new journey and welcoming a new class of 6th graders! It’s
been a great year and the Guidance Department continues to work with students and parents to end this
year successfully. Please remind your child that if he/she would like to speak with the Guidance
Counselor, we have appointment request slips available in classrooms and in Guidance. Additionally, if
you would like to speak with your child’s counselor or set up a conference with your child’s teachers and
counselor, please contact our department at 732-505-3910.

Ronald McDonald House
On Wednesday, May 15, 2013 the Interact Club took a
trip to the Ronald McDonald House (The House That Love
Built) in Long Branch, New Jersey. When children are
faced with life threatening medical emergencies, they need
their parents close by for comfort and reassurance. Parents
also need a place to turn for understanding from others.
During the time of stress and uncertainty, families of sick
children can stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Long
Branch.

recycled and cashed in by the pound, providing assistance
with operational expenses and the ability to waive the room

NON-DISCRIMINATION/SEXUAL HARASSMENT
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Federal law prohibits educational program and employment discrimination on the basis of gender (Title IX of the
1972 Educational Amendments); handicap (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973); age (Age Discrimination
In Employment Act of 1967); and race, color, religion, gender, or national origin (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of
1964). New Jersey Title 6 prohibits educational program and employment practices discrimination on the basis of
race, color, creed, religion, gender, ancestry, national origin, and social/economic status.
The Toms River Regional School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, gender,
ancestry, national origin, social/economic status, age, affectional or sexual orientation (real or perceived), or
handicap in its educational programs or employment practices in accordance with the applicable statutes.
In addition, the Board of Education is committed to maintaining an instructional and working environment that is free
from harassment of any kind. It shall be a violation of this policy for students to harass other students, or for
students to harass staff members, or for staff members to harass students through conduct or communications of a
sexual nature.
Sexual harassment is a violation of State and Federal law. It has been defined under the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission as unwelcome and sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or
physical conduct of a sexual nature.
Findings of sexual harassment will result in disciplinary action which may include parental conference, suspension
(either in- or out-of-school), and a report with the Beachwood Police Department and any other disciplinary action
deemed necessary and appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools/Board of Education.
The Toms River Regional Board of Education has non-discrimination/affirmative action policies and a grievance
procedure whereby any student, parent, teacher, administrator, or member of the community who has a grievance (a
complaint of discrimination or harassment) may present such grievance for consideration. These policies and
grievance procedures are available in the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, in the Principal’s Office at each
school, and in the district Affirmative Action Office.
