Since moving to Westwood in the autumn of 2009 the
Koi carp have thrived and multiplied in the lower pool,
surrounded by water lilies. Their original home was
with one of the stonemasons involved with building
the house. As he was about to move house and
knowing that the new owners would be filling in his
pond, he was looking for a new home for his rare fish.

Soft pinks of sedums and echinaceas add to the
continuing colour of the long borders and the
backdrop of the tapestry hedge takes on a mottled hue
from the beech and hornbeam. Long into autumn,
misty grey days are enlivened by the Moroccan blues
of Salvia patens and Ceratostigma willmottianum
along with the pure white Anemone x hybrida
‘Honorine Jobert’ lacing their way through the waving
sea of Miscanthus.
