Area Students Represent Heartland Power At 2017 Youth Tour
Thirty eight high school students representing Iowa’s not-for-
profit electric cooperatives traveled to Washington, D.C., from
June 9-15 and joined more than 1,800 other students from
around the nation for the 2017 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour.
These students gained a first-hand understanding of the legisla-
tive process and made connections with other student leaders
from across the country.
Representing Heartland Power Cooperative at this year’s Youth
Tour was Gillian Johanns, daughter of Terry and Brenda Johanns
of Osage; Anna Miller, daughter of Joe and Brenda Miller of
Osage; and Madelyn Tjaden, daughter of Scott and Jennifer
Tjaden of Charles City.
All sophomore and junior students whose parents/guardians
live on cooperative lines are encouraged to apply for this unique
opportunity! Participants are selected for this program through
their success on a cooperative-based quiz, essay questions, and
personal interview among a panel of judges. For more informa-
tion on youth tour, visit our website or call our office.
