PART C:

GUIDE
TO

ASSESSMENT
AND

EVALUATION

47

1.0 ASSESSMENT METHODS

The continuous assessment of the process takes into account qualities such as
motivation, reliability, independent work and improvement due to the student’s
effort.

The assessment of the final year project report takes into account the following
aspects:
i. Structure
ii. Approach and Argument
iii. Originality and Contribution to the field
iv. Bibliographic information and Citation skills
v. Academic writing skills (Style and Language)

Since the Final Year Project runs over two semesters then the assessment is
divided into two parts. In each part there are few methods of assessment as
indicated below:

Part A

1. Proposal defense will be held on the week 8 of the first semester
2. Proposal document should be submitted by week 10 of the first semester to

supervisor
3. At the end of the first semester, students are required to submit their interim

report (1 copy) that should consist at least the first 3 chapters of their project
report that are Introduction, Background Study and Requirement and
Methodology
Part 2

1. FYP report
a. For evaluation, students are required to submit a hard copy of the FYP
report and other documents to the supervisors.
b. 2 copies of CD containing a complete set of required documents

2. FYP poster presentation (optional)
a. The assessment will be done by means of exhibition and evaluated by
some number of lecturers in the faculty.

3. Oral presentation
a. This is open to the public but your panel of examiners consists of your
supervisor and the assigned examiners.
