An extraordinary event exclusively designed for Freshmen and transferees was made possible by the Office of the Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, together with the various SAS offices. Globe Team committed to provide the BEST connectivity to enjoy the BEST Student Life in UNC. Facilitated by the Globe Management Committee, they met with UNCean students and conducted a Focus Group Discussion to know their connectivity experience, and assessment on the services provided by Globe. Couch Session on Scholarships highlighted the event, with former and current scholars discussing the profound impact of UNC’s benevolence, extending assistance to the Bikolano youth. The Executive Page | AUGUST 3 UNC SGS Work-based MBA wins Best Individual Development Program; UNC Electrical Engineering Students hailed as Champion in IIEE Regional Skills Olympics UNC School of Law studes goes international in 4th Annual Legal Camp The Integrated Institute of Electrical Engineers Albay-Legazpi Chapter hosted the 23rd Bicol Regional Conference, a three-day event for Electrical Engineering students in the Bicol region. The conference was participated by seven (7) Bicol colleges and universities, including the University of Nueva Caceres, and was comprised of various competitions including the Regional Skills Olympics Six students from the UNC School of Law embarked on a remarkable journey to the 4th Annual Legal Camp last August 15-20 in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand. Participants were Jing Icarla S. Dy, Vice President for Marketing of the Association of Law Students of the Philippines and James Nathaniel Refugio, ALSP Secretary General, together with officers from the ALSP & Electrical Installation Competition—a time-pressured wiring building competition—and the Regional Philippine Electrical Code Quiz Show 2023. IIEE UNC Student Chapter representatives, Remueil Hertez, Ken Ivan Sunga, Dan Andrew De Ocampo, Francis Eman Dimas, and Karl Adrian Apin were hailed as Champion for Office of the Vice President for Marketing: Eric S. Kabigting, Director for Research; Camille M. Nagrampa, Director for Communications; Krysthle Shane S. Pardiñas Asst. Director for Research; Frances Jo-An P. Dabu, Asst. Director for Communications. The Legal Camp is an immersive educational program organized by the Association of Law Students Philippine Chapter, in the Regional Skills Olympics 2023, with Engr. Harry King Avenido as their coach. Moreover, IIEE UNC SC members; Andrea Cruz, Jose Aguila, Jason Cledera, Mark Anthony Bognalos, and Roi Andrei Reyes placed 6th in the Philippine Electrical Quiz Show (PEC Quis Show) , also with Engr. Avenido as their coach. collaboration with esteemed partners such as the Asian Research Institute for Environmental Law (ARIEL), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), and the Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA). Participants engaged in lectures, workshops, and visited prestigious institutions, gaining insights that will shape their future careers and contribute to a better world.
4 The Executive Page | AUGUST UNC’s Excellent Student Outcomes highlighted in Dean Agnes Reyes, UNC Chief Learning Officer and College of Computer Studies Dean, represented the University as panelist in the CLICkCONEx Session on Talent Development: Boosting the Quality of Local ICT Talents last August 24-25, 2023 at the Legazpi City Convention Center. The event is made possible by the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and the Convergence of Luzon ICT Champions (CLICk) in cooperation with the Legazpi City IT & Electronic Commerce Council (LCITECC) and Albay ICT Association (AICTA), and in partnership with the Department of Information Communication and Technology (DICT), Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), and other stakeholders in government and private sectors. 100% of BS Biology and Criminology students passed the Basic Life Support with CPR-AED Training Certification last August 22 to 25 conducted by Philippine Red Cross. Said activity caters to expounding the concept of emergency preparedness when unexpected disastrous situations occur.
AD Basister completes Postgraduate Certificate for Academic Practice (PGCAP); receives status of Fellow of Higher Education (FHE) by Advance HE (United Kingdom) The UNC celebrates the achievements of Prof. Michel P. Basister, Assistant Dean of the School of Graduate Studies. After his successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate for Academic Practice (PGCAP), a 10-month program offered by the University of Liverpool, England, and his fruitful participation as UNC representative in TAPHEP “Transforming Philippine Higher Education through Innovative Academic Practice toward a Culture of Research and Interdisciplinarity (TAPHEP Project), Prof. Michel P. Basister, a Ph.D. Candidate in the University of the Philippines Los Baños was awarded the status of Fellow of Higher Education (FHE) by Advance HE (United Kingdom), an esteemed level of international professional standing that evidences expertise in teaching and learning in higher education. Best Student Life in LAYAG’s Basic Ed ORSEM Opening Salvo As the Basic Education Department commences the new academic year, August 22 to 26 week-long OrSem dubbed “Layag” welcomes students as they set sail to new quests and discoveries. Various home departments from the Elementary’s SINAG, Junior High School’s SIGLAW and Senior High School’S IBAYO opened the academic year highlighting UNC’s best student life with the leadership of Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs Kenjie Jimenea. Nursing Capping and Pinning Ceremonies. The 41st Capping and Pinning Ceremonies of the UNC College of Nursing 2nd year BS Nursing students was held at the Royal Emelina on August 30, 2023. Holy Mass for the Capping Ceremonies was officiated by Fr. Rex Hidalgo on August 29 at the University Chapel. Pagsungko ni Ina On August 29, the University of Nueva Caceres community including its students, teachers, administrators and staff welcomed the holy image of Our Lady of Penafrancia to the campus. Welcome procession, prayer vigil and send-off mass took place at the University Chapel.
