Tough Toddlers and Joy for Choir Sadee Morgan, Berlin High School student class of ‘26 has found joy in vocalize Berlins Choir. Her childhood has been filled with music, she joined the choir to perform, and brought her voice to the stage. She also enjoys to take care of children and has her own babysitting business. Morgan joined choir because she was influenced by her family. Her sister participated in Berlin Choir, and her uncle’s profession is involved with music, naturally she gave it a shot. She enjoys to learn new songs and to socialize with her friends at choir. Her favorite song to perform is the Berlin Omamoter. “It’s a shorter song, and I get to do the harmony part, and it’s really fun.” Morgan said. Morgan is in the alto section, which is the lowest voice in women’s section. She plans to continue choir for the rest of high school, since the classes get more difficult as it progresses, and smaller. To learn music she records her teacher’s voice for a reference. In class, Morgan’s vocal exercises include: breath control, ability to sing notes higher, and vowel pronunciation. Whenever the choir does vocal warm ups they usually consist of nonsense words or scales. “We have to learn to say different vowels differently, so it doesn’t sound weird, but more professional is the goal.” Morgan said. Morgan explained the Berlin Choir, along with “Does the World say,” vocal group, is set to perform on October 23rd, 2022. In addition to choir, Morgan babysits kids in her local neighborhood and many other subdivisions. Based on the number of children, she takes care of 1 to 2 kids per week. It takes usually 3-6 hours. Morgan started to babysit with her sister, but now that her sister is in college, she works on her own. Morgan likes childcare, because little kids they tend to be cuter and easier to take care of than older kids. She specializes in the care of children from ages two through six. In the future, she aspires to be an art teacher because it fuses two things that she loves. Art, specifically illustration involved with colored pencils, oil pastels and watercolors. And most of all, her love of young children. “I’m thinking of being an art teacher. I love art, and working with younger children.” Morgan said. Morgan has found her passion in kids and in babysitting(ing). She wants to continue to incorporate kids and music in her life. Photo By: Ella Isaman

Lethal disasters of TikTok challenges There have been many stunts that teenagers on TikTok have pulled to gain social media attention. In one recent case, a 13-year-old- boy died in Ohio, due to overdose of Benadryl, which is known as the “Benadryl Challenge”. It’s a deadly challenge where you take 12 to 14 Benadryl pills to trigger hallucinations. It ultimately started in 2020 on the platform, but because of this many hospitalizations occurred. The FDA got involved, and reached out to TikTok to remove all videos of teenagers who attempted this challenge. Another absurd challenge that gained popularity is the Blackout Challenge. This actually circulated in 2008, but resurfaced on TikTok. Its challenge is to hold your breath until you have no oxygen left in your system. Many detrimental deaths rose, but in February 2021 a 9 year-old died from the Blackout Challenge. Many parents who lost their children to the challenge sued TikTok to prevent more children on the platform from these dangerous challenges, but the judge overturned the lawsuit. Lastly, is the Chicken NyQuil Challenge. People on the app boil chicken and Nyquil, two odd combinations, and eat the product. The FDA also reached out to users, and said it’s lethal to boil NyQuil due to the properties inside the medicine. As the FDA said, “Even if you don’t eat the chicken you can inhale the medications vapors while cooking. Which can cause high levels of drugs to enter your body.” Many parents have tried to sue TikTok over the challenges, which has resulted in many lawsuits. Tiktok also invades user’s privacy. The app can access personal information, and steal it. TikTok can destroy a teenager’s mental health, due to the pressure to be ‘TikTok Famous’. Akshaya Para 26’ said, “Why would you watch a 30 second video telling you how cool it is to take an overdose amount of drugs? Let’s go back to the person who came up with the idea. You’re now responsible for the death of anyone who plays your ‘game’ and the future deaths of people who decide to go along with it. That’s not smart.”

Eating at Oishii Sushi is Ramen Roll The Oishii Japanese Bistro is a wondrous restaurant filled with various Japanese dishes you can choose from. It all started with a vision that started with the founder, Chef Dennis wanted to build off of. He started his career at New York, and wanted to bring the colorful flavors of New-York styled Sushi to Ohio. When entering the restaurant, my company and I were greeted with a comfortable atmosphere, the lighting contributed making it feel like a cozy environment. We were automatically seated upon arrival, and given menus. The menu had many unique and diverse meals with interesting combinations of ingredients/sauces. The items that intrigued me the most were the Beef Negimaki, Rainbow Rolls, and the Steamed Dumplings. All had mini descriptions of the underneath, going in depth about what was contained inside the food . As an appetizer, my sister and I ordered the Steamed Dumplings, with a side of Soy Sauce. It was a great choice of food to start off the visit, the heat was the right amount to seep into my mouth, and the Soy Sauce made it 10 times better, adding a inviting taste, 5/5! After we devoured the Dumplings, the Beef Negimaki was served. I had high expectations for the Beef Negimaki that were not met. The marination of Teriyaki Sauce was enjoyable, it gave a distinct zest! Although, the beef was cooked to the point were it took an extensive amount of effort to chew. In my opinion, this dish could have been executed perfectly if the beef wasn’t so chewy, therefore its a 1.5/5. Finally, excitement overcame me and my sister when the Rainbow Rolls were put in front of us. It looked very appealing, and like it came straight out of an advertisement. The raw fish, however, was intimidating to eat. When tasting it, it tasted okay, the fish was the only problem I had. It was an interesting experience, 3/5. All in all, Oishii Japanese Bistro is a wonderful place to dine out with friends and family. There was great customer service, our server was quick and friendly. Tasting and trying new things can lead to adventure of discovering fresh tastes. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. Photo By: Ella Isaman Photo By: Ella Isaman

Meet the Haunt ed Sounds of the Musical Spirited The Christmas Carol is a classic Christmas Tale about rebirth, someone changing under one circumstance. What if the Christmas Carol was more modernized and with music? The movie “Spirited” staring Ryan Renoylds, playing Clint Briggs Will Ferell playing Christmas Ghost of Christmas Present is a wild ride, and Octavia Spencer who plays Kimberly. It takes place in many time periods, it varies in the 1800s-to present. The Ghosts of Christmas Past (Sunita Mani), Jacob Marley (Patrick Page), and Chirstmas Future who voices Tracey Morgan all enjoy their job by haunting people and see them become a better person. However Christmas Present wants to fulfill his life by doing stuff he missed out on. All the Christmases move on to haunting a new person, and Chirstmas Present finds Clint Briggs who’s a corrupt con man, and sells Christmas Trees to gullible people. They decide to haunt to him, yet all the efforts are useless because hes too stubborn to listen. The movie was released on November 11, 2022 for the upcoming Christmas season. There are many musical numbers throughout the movie that range from funky, upbeat to more sentimental and slow. Throughout the songs there is amazing choreography that add more spunk. The comedy that is incorporated make it more light-hearted and entertaining to watch. It sometimes breaks the fourth-wall in certain areas of the movie too. In my personal opinion, however, I would rate ‘Spirited’ a 8.5/10. I feel like everything was executed very well, but in some ways I thought that the plot was predictable, especially towards the end. Certain songs are very boring, and just makes me overall want to skip over it. In my view, just less sentimental songs would make the movie much more better. There are many cameos that are unexpected, too. The many funny lines as I mentioned, make the movie ten times better, and made me laugh a lot. The most interesting parts I felt that stood to me out was the tap dances scenes that were included. The scenes I loved the end, how Christmas Present, and Clint Briggs reunite. One of my favorite quotes were, from one of the introductory songs, ““We haunt someone and change them into a person, then we sing about it.” I would suggest watching this move if you want to have a good laugh, and enjoy miracles. There are many elements to the movie that I felt were great, and some that needed work on. You can find this movie on Apple TV+ or at your local Movie Theatre. Photo By: IMDb
