My Life as Marjen
Birth
My Mom said that I had a big head so it was hard for me
to come out. She told me that my Dad was so worried
because they couldn’t pull me out so he started sweating,
shaking, and hyperventilating. The doctor was asking if he
needed help. When I was finally pulled out, I had very little
baby hair so most people thought I was a boy.
Event #1
One important event in my life is when I found out about BTS. They are a
South Korean boy group that consists of 7 members. Their music has
helped me through some of my hardest times. Some of their songs cover
the topics of loving yourself and letting you know that you’re not alone.
This has shaped me into the person I am because I used to be very
insecure about how I look but everyday, they’re teaching me how to love
and accept myself for who I am.
Event #2
Another important event in my life is when I started singing.
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and I practice
everyday to become better. This shaped me as a person
because when I sing, I feel happy, safe, and relaxed. It’s what
I love to do and I have so much passion for it. Some of my
favorite songs to sing are “All I Ask” by Adele and “Cruel” by
Jeff Bernat.
Event #3
An important life event that I’ve experienced was when I went to the Philippines
last summer. When I was there, I spent lots of time with my cousins! We went
ziplining, swimming, and we ate a lot. At the time, it was also my aunt’s wedding
so I got to wear a nice dress! This trip to the Philippines was memorable because
it’s been years since I’ve last seen my cousins. My grandma also owns a place at
the market so I was able to help her sell. The weather there was very, very hot and
I got so many mosquito bites but it was worth it because I got to catch up with my
family there!
