Articles: a

Kita gunakan “a’” di permulaan perkataan yang bermula huruf/bunyi konsonan
(SELAIN A,E,I,O,U)

a building (sebuah bangunan), a dragon (seekor naga)

Huruf/ bunyi konsonan Huruf/ bunyi konsonan

Kita tidak gunakan “a’ atau “an” sebelum kata nama yang menunjukkan banyak kerana “a” dan

“an” bermaksud satu.

Pengecualian:
Kita tidak menggunakan “an” di awal perkataan yang disebut seolah-olah bunyi awalnya “y” walaupun ia
bermula dengan huruf vokal. Kita gunakan “a”.

Disebut “yuniversity”- awal sebutan bunyi “y”

Contoh: a unicorn a university a used car

Disebut “yunikorn”- awal sebutan bunyi “y” Disebut “yused”- awal sebutan bunyi “y”
