Seaford Town Council The weather was superb again this year! The event
started at 11am and closed soon after 2pm, during

The crypt gallery
3 Church Street, Seaford
The Crypt Gallery, as it’s now known, has gone
from strength to strength in the last few years.
The diversity of exhibitors continues to draw in
increasing numbers of visitors and keep alive this
historic building. New this year Sussex Arts Collective
has been in the Cuckmere room from March and
month on month changing their artists – this has also
meant there has been access to the under croft for
visitors to Seaford on a continual basis.
The rest of the building (the historic part) – the Flint
Gallery and under croft has been host to a variety of
exhibitors.The future is looking really exciting with new
exhibitors and also returning groups.
This year after the success of a portrait challenge the
Crypt is on location with a Landscape Challenge.
This will be held on the promenade at the Martello
Tower on Saturday 31st August from 10am to 1pm.
Artists can paint or draw the landscape and be judged
by the public at the end of the session.The winner will
receive a year’s membership to the Brighton Museum.
Entry is £10 and on hand for advice will be local artist

along with providing shelter for the Seaford Silver Band
who played in the moat due to the high winds on the
day!
Sussex Crafters had been invited to attend, but due to
such windy weather it wasn’t possible for all of them
to display their stalls. However, the entertainment still
went on! Thank you to the Seaford Silver Band and
‘Shannon’ who were appreciated by the hardy crowd

is taking part in the 2019 South Coast
Challenge, in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society.
The 48-hour gruelling event starting on 31st August
in Eastbourne, will cover 100 km across Sussex’s most
iconic landmarks including Beachy Head, the Seven
Sisters, Devil’s Dyke, Southease, Brighton and finishing
in Arundel.
Tracy, 32, has been inspired to fundraise for The
Alzheimer’s Society by the residents at Seaford’s Clifden
House Dementia Care Centre where she has worked
since January 2013.
