Countries that deal with illegal immigration,
specifically, the host country, face challenges when
making decisions concerning immigration. Illegal
immigration can serve as a disadvantage to the
country. The federal government and taxpayers are
paying billions of dollars a year because of
undocumented immigrants are taking advantage of
the fact that there is a federal law that states that
free education must be provided regardless of
immigration status.

Public schools in the nation continue to suffer as SCHIP (State Children's Health

for every legal resident in Maryland, they have to
pay $910 per year to cover the costs of illegal
immigrants.

WHY IS EDUCATION SO COSTLY?

educate the immigrants, states have to offer
free education. It costs $6000 per kid to
educate them.

■ Secondly, in order to bring them up to federal
standards, districts are paying more than
$1.5 million per year to hire bilingual
teachers with additional credits.

■ Thirdly, sudden influxes of undocumented
immigrants results in higher costs, thus
burdening districts with millions and billions
of dollars a year.
