01Back to School The end of winter break is always bittersweet. On one hand, the freedom of winter vacation has been glorious - sleeping in, staying up late, and spending the days playing with new toys and games. But after two weeks off from school, part of you looks forward to going back. You must miss your friends and teachers and wondering what you will learn each day. While the fun and relaxation of vacation is great, it should be nice to get back into a routine. You are now ready to get up early again, pack your backpack, and catch the bus. Back at school, there will be new topics to dive into, school events to plan, and fun times at recess. Though you miss the lazy days of winter break, going back to school brings its own new adventures. As the winter vacation draws to a close, the halls of the school are once again buzzing with the excitement of students returning for the start of a new term. The two-week break provided a much-needed respite, allowing students to recharge and spend quality time with family and friends. Now, with backpacks slung over shoulders and faces reflecting a mix of anticipation and nostalgia, they eagerly step back into the familiar routine of school life. February 05, 2024

1.2 The classrooms, once silent and empty, now echo with the chatter of reunited friends and the shuffling of textbooks being pulled from backpacks. Teachers, refreshed and rejuvenated, welcome their students with warm smiles, ready to embark on another chapter of learning and growth. The aroma of freshly sharpened pencils and the crisp pages of untouched notebooks signal a fresh start, a blank canvas awaiting the colorful strokes of knowledge and discovery. Back to school after a 2-week winter vacation is not just a return to routine; it's a step into the future, a reminder that every school day is an opportunity for growth and learning. 6 FEBRUARY 2024 On February 6th, 2024, Grade 11 students from MGPS embarked on a journey of academic exploration and discovery as they participated in the prestigious Global Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX). Hosted annually by Oman expo, GHEDEX serves as a platform of educational opportunities, attracting students, parents, and educators keen on exploring the vast landscape of higher education options. For our Grade 11 students, GHEDEX represented a unique opportunity to peek into the world of tertiary education, laying the groundwork for their future academic pursuits. Armed with curiosity and enthusiasm, students navigated through the bustling exhibition halls, where a myriad of universities, colleges, and vocational institutions from around the globe showcased their offerings. The participation of Grade 11 students in GHEDEX was a hands-on experience aimed at empowering them to make informed decisions about their academic and career pathways. Under the guidance of their teachers and career counselors, students engaged in meaningful conversations with university representatives, asking pertinent questions about programs, admissions, and campus life. GHEDEX EXHIBITION GRADE 11 One of the most significant advantages of attending GHEDEX at such a pivotal stage of their academic journey was the exposure to diverse academic disciplines and learning environments. From engineering and medicine to liberal arts and business, students had the opportunity to explore a wide array of fields, igniting their passions and aspirations. Students began to reflect and envision their future paths with clarity and purpose. Beyond academic exploration, GHEDEX also fostered the development of essential life skills such as communication, critical thinking, and decisionmaking. Students navigated through the exhibition with confidence, articulating their interests and aspirations while engaging in constructive dialogue with educators and industry professionals. As they returned to their classrooms and communities, students carried with them a newfound sense of direction and motivation, fueled by the wealth of knowledge and inspiration gained from the exhibition. Grade 11 students have set themselves on a path towards a future filled with endless opportunities and possibilities. 02

It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and spiritual growth. During our Israa al Miraj celebration, our kindergarten students engaged in a variety of enriching activities designed to deepen their understanding of this important event. From storytelling sessions that bring the journey to life to arts and crafts activities that spark creativity and imagination, our students had the opportunity to learn and explore in a supportive and nurturing environment. We believe that events like Israa al Miraj provide valuable opportunities for our students to connect with their cultural heritage and develop a sense of appreciation for the teachings of Islam. Take a look to this day of our MGPS learners filled with joy, learning, and meaningful connections!

MGPS Maths Elitist of the Year 07 We are delighted to announce that one of our very own students, Ahmed Idris from Grade 8A, has been awarded the title of International Maths Challenge Elitist at the recent online simulated maths challenge competition that took place in December 2023. Ahmed displayed exceptional talent and dedication, earning recognition for his outstanding performance in the competition. Ahmed's overall percentile in the world is 80.51%ile. This indicates that Ahmed has scored 80.51% of students in the world. This is indeed a proud moment for our school as Ahmed's achievement reflects the hard work and commitment he has put into his studies. We congratulate Ahmed on this well-deserved honor and we are thrilled to see him excel on an international platform. Ahmed's success serves as an inspiration for all our students to strive for excellence and push their boundaries. We encourage other students to follow in Ahmed's footsteps and participate in this esteemed international maths competition that is held every year. It is a great opportunity to test your skills, learn from others, and showcase your mathematical prowess on a global stage. Once again, a huge congratulations to Ahmed Idris for his remarkable achievement. We are incredibly proud of him and we look forward to seeing more of our students shine brightly in the future. Keep up the fantastic work, Ahmed!

08 Exploring -ing words In a recent Grade 1 classroom adventure, students dove into the world of -ing words with great enthusiasm! Each child received a unique - ing word, such as "picking" or "driving," and embarked on a journey of imagination. They crafted sentences and brought them to life through colorful illustrations, filling our classroom with joy and creativity. What stood out was the ease with which the students grasped the concept of -ing words. Instead of feeling intimidated by new grammar, they embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, showcasing their natural flair for language acquisition. ACTIVITIES ENGLISH Beyond grammar, this activity fostered collaboration and a sense of community. As students shared their work, they celebrated each other's creativity and accomplishments, creating a supportive learning environment. This -ing word adventure wasn't just educational; it was an unforgettable experience that made learning fun and engaging for all involved!

8.1 Regular and Irregular Verbs Regular verbs are those verbs which form their simple past and past participle by adding the suffix "-ed" to the base form of the verb. For instance, the past tense of the verb "walk" is "walked". On the other hand, irregular verbs are those verbs which form their simple past and past participle in a way that is not consistent with the addition of "-ed" to the base verb. For example, the past tense of the verb "eat" is "ate". ACTIVITIES ENGLISH Grade 2 C students have been learning about regular verbs in our recent lessons. These verbs follow a simple pattern when changing from present to past tense, and we've been having a lot of fun practicing with various activities and games. However, we have now moved onto irregular verbs, which don't follow the standard pattern when changing tenses. Instead, each verb has its own unique transformation. During their learning process, our students matched each action word to its past tense form and identified whether it was a regular or irregular verb.

8.2 Giving presentations is an important skill. Students sometimes feel shy about coming forward and sharing information or opinion in front of the class. Therefore, some topics were given to students to gain confidence by doing so. Grade 7B students delivered some presentation on various topics. Moreover, some students were given a role-play for and interview and others some group activities. ACTIVITIES ENGLISH Leen Suaib of 7B is giving presentation on the comparison between ancient and modern Olympics. Lama of 7B is giving some examples of jumbled words. Abdulaziz and Said conducting an interview.

8.3 HANGMAN There is no denying to the opinion that vocabulary plays a vital role in improving one’s language skills. Unlike a traditional way of playing hangman, grade 9B was given this activity in small groups. This most important feature of this activity is that every student participates simultaneously in this customized version of Hangman. This makes everyone a contestant and responsible, unlike in other form where just a few students dominate an activity. ACTIVITIES ENGLISH Ahmed Eldirdiri, Muammar, Turki and Laith working out vocabulary puzzle (9B) Abdulrazzaq challenging his opponents on vocabulary guessing game Qusai and Jasim (9B) Marwan, Attad, Hamid and Zuhair playing a vocabulary game. (9B) Ahmed Adil, Omar, Ilyas and Mohammed playing a vocabulary game (9B)

From these experiences children learn that reading and writing are valuable tools that helps them do many things in life. Reading helps children in developing vocabularies, improve listening skills and developing imagination and creativity. Reading skills are important for the success of the children in the school since their literacy level impacts on their success in all other subject areas. 09 ACTIVITIES KG ENGLISH Books are the friendly companions which guide and entertain us every day at the kindergarten. Experiences in these early years begin to define the assumptions and expectations about becoming literate and give children the motivation to work towards learning to read and write. Here at MGPS Kindergarten the teachers engage the children in reading using various methods thus helping them love books and have fun at the same time.

Only certain products, including paper, plastic, glass, and metal can be recycled, and the process of recycling is different for each material. Talking about the different types of materials to be recycled is a great way to teach our young learners to be responsible, to understand and help the environment, by three words to keep in mind that is reduce, reuse, and recycle. By doing these three things, we can all work together to cut down on the garbage we throw away to save our earth planet. Here in MGPS, the teacher teaches our youngling to be able to understand the process of collecting materials and sorting the things into the correct recycling bins that would help to processed and turning them into new products. Grade 2 J utilized times tables for 2, 5, and 10 to work out multiplication and division facts. 14MATH ACTIVITIES

“The Soul grows by Subtraction and not addition” Subtraction is a part of our everyday lives and therefore, it is an important concept to develop early that will help students to understand to associate numbers with objects and express losses using math language. MATH ACTIVITIES The main purpose of learning backward counting for kids is that they will be able to make calculations more easily when they grow up and it will enhance the kids’ minds for doing the mental Mathematics problem more easily. Grade 1 D students were able to solve subtractions by counting back on a number line. 14.1

In this activity, Grade 7 A students conducted a series of coin flips and recorded the outcomes then they calculated the experimental probability of getting heads or tails based on their results. By comparing their experimental probabilities with the theoretical probabilities, students will gain a deeper understanding of chance and randomness. 14.2 MATH ACTIVITIES Grade 7 A Students engaged in a hands-on probability experiment where they rolled a pair of dice and recorded their outcomes. Then analyzed their data to calculate the experimental probability of rolling certain numbers, reinforcing concepts of sample space and outcomes. Finally, they' compared their experimental results with theoretical probabilities, deepening their understanding of randomness and chance. Grade 7 A students rolled a fair six-sided dice multiple times to collect experimental data on the outcomes. Using this data, they'll calculate the experimental probability of rolling each number. Next, they compared these experimental probabilities with the theoretical probabilities based on the principles of equally likely outcomes, allowing them to grasp the distinctions between experimental and theoretical probability.

KG Math ACTIVITIES It is so important to learn to compare numbers at early learning. In MGPS, students learn to compare the numbers and use the correct sign by comparing its value. Then we have two numbers or quantities to compare, by using three basic symbols, Equal (=): Greater than symbol: (>) Less than symbol (<). 15For younger students, the hungry alligator is a great way to introduce the symbols for greater than less than, and equal. These symbols are easily turned into an alligator face. The teacher introduced the students to the hungry alligator who wanted to eat as much as possible. When the alligator has a choice between two numbers, he always chooses the greater number, learning is more fun with a song. Students compared the given numbers using different signs, Comparing numbers is an important part of building a student's number sense. Number sense is the ability of a student to recognize a number, its value, and its relationship with other numbers. Berru Cihan KG 2 A Sara Al Ghaithi KG 2 A Ali Al Hadhrami KG 2 A
