CORONAVIRUS

DISEASE

COVID-19 is a novel (meaning, new) Coronavirus. The CO stands for

corona, VI stands for virus and D stands for disease. The 19 represents when

the virus first appeared. It is caused by the virus called SARS-CoV-2. It first

appeared in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019.

COVID-19 is a new mutation of the Coronavirus. Scientists believe that

the likely source of COVID-19 was a non-human host, most likely bats. The

virus has been so successful in spreading and attacking its hosts because of

its spike-shaped features on the outside of the virus that it uses to latch onto

and penetrate the cells of its hosts.

The virus can spread from person to person through contact with an

infected person. This is usually through contact with droplets from an

#QUARANTINE COVID-19, or Coronavirus disease,
DIARIES 2019. Just by hearing these words, how
do you feel about it? How did I feel
Entry #1 by Seysey Mesina about it, really?

At first, we were scared. During the
emergence of the news about the virus
last March 2019, we, citizens, were
alarmed about it. Some panicked and
some, even I, felt fear. Right?

Today, two years had passed, and
it seems like it's just a familiar word for
us— COVID-19. It's just that, now, we
just feel nothing— or it’s just normal
hearing about it. Facemasks and face
shields are now a part of our everyday
life. It is already our necessity. We
accepted the pandemic as we are
experiencing it for so long now. It's just
sad that this virus had become our life—
a part of our lives.

But us, Filipinos should take note
that it still exists. Thousands are still
being tested positive every day.
According to statistics reported to WHO,
globally, there have been 251,788,329
confirmed cases of COVID-19, including
5,077,907 deaths. While in the Philippines,
there have been 2,811,248 confirmed
cases of COVID-19 with 44,866 deaths.
Those are very big numbers, and it's just
heartbreaking.

COVID-19 sucks. How I miss my life
before the pandemic…

What about yours? How was your
life before it all happened?

Because I also just want to share a
little bit of mine… :)

#QUARANTINE Days, weeks, and months have
DIARIES passed, and the world is still adjusting.

Entry #2 by Seysey Mesina But, to be honest, other countries
are already COVID-free. They are
slowly going back with their normal lives
again, and here I am, in the Philippines,
still burdened by this never-ending
pandemic.

But, being a Filipino that I am—
strong, never-giving-up, and resilient, we
learned to keep up with this kind of life,
and adjust.

From days with a lot of crying,
aloneness, and breakdowns during the
start of my COVID life, it is now
gradually turning to just a boring-kinda
life— but still managing, and I still have
my little "ups," and many "downs," but
that's fine!
It's okay to not be okay. I know, and I
am aware that I don't have to feel
happy and fine all the time. What a
character development, right? Honestly,
I'm kinda proud of myself with that...

Being in quarantine is not just 100%
hindrance in having a productive, and
active live. Yes, at first, I even felt so
worthless doing nothing at our home, but
I was wrong. In fact, being in a lockdown
gave me more time in focusing on
myself— on learning how to love myself
even more!

I call myself "alone," or "isolated" in
those trying times, but now? It is always
"me-time!" It was not too late— never
too late for me to realize that and now,
I'm happy being at home, doing what I
love!

What about you? How do you enjoy
this time of being quarantine?

Because I also just want to share
how I enjoy mine... :)

Dancing as a

passion!

She loves dancing. She
believes that it's a God-given
talent of hers, and she
improves it more day by day,
as this gives her happiness
and confidence.

The pandemic did not
stop her from doing what she
loves. Now,

she uses the social
media in showcasing her
skills and creativity, such as
Tiktok. Also, she joined the
dance org in PSAU, and
currently a trainee there.
They have their online
training every week through
zoom. She’s having fun!

She just adores her
talent so much, and she's
thankful for it.

What about you? What
are the things that you love
to do?

Get into fashion

and photography!

She was once a
camera-shy teen. Camera
lenses and the clicks of it give
her anxiety, but she learned
to overcome that greatest
fear of hers.

She does it just for fun,
though, as it makes her feel
"something," a photo should be.
It also makes her feel sexy,
sometimes prim, and always
pretty.

Yes, she dearly misses
taking pictures outdoor. But
quarantine doesn't hinder her
in doing what she loves, and
she can still manage to take
photoshoots, only in the
vicinity of their compound. Just
a little sprinkle edit, and done!
stare at it for hours!

What about you? Are
you interested in diving into
the world of fashion and
photography?

Enhance your talent, and
embrace what you can do,
May it be dancing, singing,

draw, or painting, too.

Having a Small

Business!

She built her own online
business 2019. At first, it was
just a hobby to not be bored
during the quarantine: to
explore new hobbies like sewing,
then she bought a sewing
machine. That idea turned into
her little business, and she now
reworks clothes, and sells
them online. Because of it, she
learned how to manage her
time in selling, and also
virtual learning. She has her
own savings now, plus an extra
money to buy the thing she
wants.

It is true that the
process is tiring— but she’s
happy with the outcome of all
of it. Indeed, there’s goodness in
everything, even when we are
in the middle of a quarantine.

What about you? While
staying at home, what do you
always do? Have you tried
doing something new?

Explore new hobbies,

try something new,
Busy yourself to
avoid feeling blue.

Or just be a Cute

Couch Potato!

Yes, she’s not
productive at all times. Of
course, we all get tired,
right?

One of her way of
resting is Binge-watching
series and movies! She loves
films with the genre: action,
mystery, and sci-fi, rather
than romance, horror, or
comedy.

Some days, she’s
active, and some days, she’s
just lying on her bed all day,
and that’s perfectly fine!

What about you? What
kind of rest do you do?

Rest for a while,

do not overdo,
