WELCOME
A Message to Families
During the months of November to January the ECFE parent and child courses we’re offering to our youngest learners and their
families are a selection of online only and in person classes.
Our in person classes will follow the latest guidance from: Osseo Area Schools, Minnesota Department of Education (MDE),
Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To accommodate social distancing
guidelines under a hybrid learning model, here are a few highlights:
l In person ECFE classes will operate at 50% capacity and will be limited to one adult per family.
l Adults will be required to wear masks while in school buildings.
l Record of immunizations will be required for all students. A copy of your child's immunizations or notarized conscientious
exemption form must be submitted at the time of registration.
l A variety of in person classes will be offered: separating, non separating, non separating with online parent education
and parent and child play time.
While we are continuing the school year in a hybrid learning model, we want families to be aware that we may need to adjust our
learning model at any time as directed by Superintendent Cory McIntyre of Osseo Area Schools. Likewise, we will continue to
monitor and adjust programming according to guidelines received from the CDC, MDE, MDH, and Osseo Area Schools. This
brochure includes classes offered online September 2020-January 2021 and in person classes November to January. At a future date,
as determined by the school district learning guidelines, future in person classes will be planned and promoted. I ask for your trust as
we continue to process the guidelines and adjust the program.
On behalf of all our staff, we look forward to welcoming families to our EC&FE programs this school year!
Sincerely,
Sally Nault-Maurer, Program Coordinator

Answer: In each class, children of every age will get
something out of the activities provided by the teachers.
For example if the activity is an art collage…
• Birth-12 months:
Children may feel and look at the different materials.
• Ones:
Parents may put the glue on the paper with the glue
stick and the child may put one to two pieces on the
paper depending on their attention span.
• Twos & Threes:
Children may apply the glue from the glue stick and
add several pieces to their creation. Children may
also tear the paper, apply the glue and add a variety
of items to their collage.
• Fours & Fives:
Children may use glue bottles and may cut paper/
tissue paper/yarn to add to their collage. Their collage
may have a theme or be composed with intention.

Early Childhood Screening
Screening is a FREE service for all children.
All Minnesota children must be screened prior to entering in kindergarten. The ideal time for screening is
between the ages of 3 and 4. Your child’s screening score is based on their age at the time of screening.
At screening, parents learn about their child’s growth and development and can ask
questions if they have concerns. Screening helps identify children who may benefit
from resources to help their development.
Early Childhood Screening is a FREE check

I got so much out of this program; advice, lessons on brain development, lifelong friendships
(just to name a few). I had to give back. I initially looked for simpler tasks like photocopy-
ing. Over the next two years I had the urge to step into the Chair role for the Parent Advisory
Council (PAC). I love being connected to all EC&FE families so that I can make sure they are
having consistent, positive experiences like I do. I also found that I have a passion for commu-
nity organizing, and I look forward to exploring career opportunities in that field.
I evolved as a parent and as an individual; I still am with the help of EC&FE. I also realized
that my life with two kids is very normal and extremely enjoyable. This entire experience has
changed my life! -Mona Parmar
My husband and I often discuss how fortunate we are to live in the only state with exposure to
Early Childhood and Family Education. We are often left feeling grateful for the lessons we
have learned during our time spent in parent connection classes and how much we believe that
so many other states and families could benefit from the candid, raw, and open conversations
amongst parents in these classes. Early Childhood and Family Education balusters a parent’s
arsenal of tools to help them cope with the ever changes phases of parenthood and childhood.
I know from personal experience, I have shown up in classes feeling overwhelmed, exhausted
and simply put a “Failure” as a parent, only to leave feeling less alone, equipt with research
backed methods to try in my home and reminded that we are all just doing our best at the end
of the day. -Joan Dostal
