JUNE 3 Someone once said that “ trust is gained, and loyalty is returned.”
Boys Divisions Only That certainly rings true in this week’s parsha, Bamidbar, as loyalty is rewarded and returned

Jr. High 12:30 Dismissal learn that the Leviim were not counted among the masses.
•••••• Why was the tribe of Levi not counted among the others? In his commentary, Rashi suggests
two explanations: First, the King’s legion deserves to be counted on its own. Second, Hashem
JUNE 5-6 foresaw that in the future it would be decreed that all those who had been counted would be
condemned to perish in the desert. Thus, He said let them not be counted. They are mine, shelo

Levi was justly rewarded. Rashi seems to supplement his two reasons with a caveat: Shelo ta’u

face value and comment that the Leviim should be counted separately because they did not
JUNE 7 transgress and, thus, were in a league of their own. Quite surprisingly, Rashi’s choice to employ
the word ta’u, they erred, instead of the more obvious choice term of chatu, they sinned, perhaps

•••••• We understand that the creation of man and his placement in this world is by Divine design. Man
is charged with a mission to accomplish and standards to meet; all of which are replete with

vaonesh, rewards and consequences; checks and balances. Nevertheless, Yisrael af al pi

who erred in judgment. While that might not alter the ultimate verdict, it does, however, define

JUNE 14 This brings to mind the classic story of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter zt”l who once visited the shop of the

long as the candle flickers, there is still time to mend and to finish our sacred work in this world.
JUNE 15 It is never too late!
Last Day of School Indeed, it is never too late to reevaluate our sense of loyalty to our Creator and to understand
12:00 Dismissal that our loyalty is rewarded and returned. As we approach Chag HaShavuos, an annual
opportunity is once again at our door; the opportunity to rededicate our lives to Torah study. As
8:37 we accept the Torah anew, we might ask ourselves how will we increase our loyalty to Hashem
and will we open the door for that loyalty to be rewarded?

Junior High School
The Junior High School welcomed and was addressed by Rabbi David Ozeri, Rav
of Yad Yosef Torah Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Rabbi Ozeri is also a
prominent, sought after motivational speaker who inspires his audiences. He
shared a fascinating story with our boys on the concept of ki hem chayenu,
Torah is our life.
Last week’s seventh grade, first annual Bnei Aliya Asifa was a huge success. Our
talmidim traveled to Kalahari Resort, joining with other schools across the Midwest. The boys enjoyed an inspiring and
fun-filled program and had the opportunity to meet with Roshei Yeshiva and principals. Our school was a host school
and our boys beautifully presented a display on Parshas Shemini. The program served to unite seventh graders while
providing chizuk and aliya!
Yeshiva Ketana
Mazel tov to Yakir Feldman on his siyum of Maseches Makkos. Yakir has
been learning with Rabbi Asher Newman and has already finished
many mesechtos. Continued hatzlacha!
Mazel Tov to Rabbi Drazin’s fourth grade class on their siyum of Parshas
Yisro. The following boys enhanced the siyum by sharing beautiful divrei
Torah on the parsha: Zalman Alevsky, Shneur Zalman Jacobs, Dovid
Samowitz and Binyamin Steinfeld.
Mazel tov to Dovid Aryeh Stelzer on his siyum of Maseches Horiyos which he completed
in honor of his grandmother’s yahrtzeit. May it bring an aliya and a zechus for her
neshama.
This past Tuesday was Rosh Chodesh Sivan when the boys in third and fourth grades
joined together in the Bais Medrash for the singing of Hallel and the davening of
Mussaf. They were then treated to a thrilling story followed by the latest Yedios
Kelalios song which taught them the measurements used in the times of the Mishna
and Gemara. This assembly was followed by a similar type of assembly (excluding the
davening) for the fifth and sixth grades. The boys at both assemblies enjoyed reviewing
and singing all the previous Yedios Kelalios songs learned throughout the year.

Yavne High School
This past week, Yavne’s 8th grade took a trip to Columbus in honor of their
culmination of Junior High School. Accompanied by their principals, Mrs. C. G.
Kohn and Mrs. R. Weinberg, and their history teacher, Mrs. K. Fortuna, the girls
enjoyed a pleasant bus ride to the State House. A special thank you to Ohio’s
Agudah representative, Rabbi Yitz Frank, for arranging a special tour of many
chambers in the Senate that are normally closed to the public. The girls sat in the
legislators seats and got to feel what it’s like to actually work in the State
Congress. They also received a tour of the beautiful architecture, décor, artwork,
and historical background in the beautiful building. Many girls expressed awe at the grandeur of the domed gilded high
ceilings, grand staircases, fancy carpeting and furniture… Outside the State House, we visited a Holocaust Memorial.
Menaheles Kohn spoke to the girls about what we can learn from
our grandparents who survived the Holocaust and rose from the
ashes to rebuild Torah, Yiddishkeit, and families. The girls then
headed to Mohican State Park where the girls reveled in the
beautiful outdoors and then celebrated an 8th grade “siyum” with
a deluxe picnic dinner, complete with divrei Torah, singing, and
group activities. As the girls returned home, they expressed
appreciation for the fond memories that will remain with them as
they embark on the next stage of their chinuch in high school.
Girls Elementary
Mrs. Rossman’s fourth grade students enjoyed a Chinese auction in
honor of completing perek zayin in Sefer Yehoshua in which Yehoshua
used a goral lottery, to find the culprit. The siyum was organized by
Perry Kaufman with the help of Chaya Baila Dessler. Thank you to the
Kaufman family for
sponsoring most of the
prizes and a soda can for
each girl.
Morah Zuckerman’s first
grade finished learning in Chumash about all seven days of creation and
had a very special siyum!!

Kindergarten
Mazel tov to the kindergartners in Morah Blech and Morah Shani’s class who cele-
brated their Mesibas Siddur this week. The chil-
dren did an amazing job on stage to the delight of
their friends and family. We are so very proud of
them and look forward to the other class celebra-
tions coming up next week!
Our kindergartners learned so much about the
upcoming yom tov of Shavuos. At right are girls in
Morah Modes and Morah Mindy’s class displaying
their very beautiful Har Sinai table centerpieces.
Teacher Appreciation
In appreciation of all the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff,
they were and will continue to be celebrated at various events on the differ-
ent campuses.
When we look back to September, the contrast of the kids who walked into
the classroom and the students who are
walking is tremendous! Our staff comes
to work every day ready to enhance and
lives and minds of our precious chil-
dren. Their efforts have enabled our chil-
dren to grow and develop so beautifully
this year.
Dear Rabbeim, Moros, and Teachers, with
deep hakaras hatov we celebrate all of
your accomplishments and thank you for
your devotion to our children.
We also want to thank all the volunteers who helped to make the Teacher Apprecia-

The colorful and eye-catching bulletin board hangs outside Morah Rivky’s kinder-
garten classroom. Our students had many opportunities to learn and practice this
mitzvah in the weeks leading up to Shavuos! Great job, kinderlach!
