SEPTEMBER 25 A business executive was transferred overseas by his firm with the understanding that he
would receive an extensive benefits package–one commensurate with his prestigious position.
Erev Rosh HaShanah After a period of time, he inquired why he had not yet received even a single pay check. When
NO SCHOOL his employer asserted that his benefits package represented their compensation for his
services, he countered that benefits are never in lieu of one’s salary and that they are
•••••• provided to enable the employee to accomplish his task in a more expansive manner. Thus,
while salary represents the basic bread and butter, benefits are but an enhancement.
SEPTEMBER 28
Similarly, the Jew is placed in this world with the express purpose of perfecting it through
Tzom Gedalya Torah study and mitzvah observance. Along with this daunting, yet glorious assignment,
School Resumes 9:00 a.m. HaKadosh Baruch Hu blesses His nation with myriad benefits–all of which are provided in
order to encourage us to accomplish our mission and achieve our goals in life in the most
Minyanim 8:30 expansive manner possible. Benefits such as loving parents, a supportive spouse, adorable
Early Childhood Dismissal 1:40 children, and all of the many gifts in this world that enhance our quality of life are just
enhancements—benefits—that encourage and reinforce our efforts to accomplish our core
Kindergarten Dismissal 2:00 purpose in life.
Grades 1-6 Dismissal 2:00
However, there is the real danger that an individual may forsake his life’s purpose and live
Jr. High Boys 2:15 solely for its enhancements. This would be akin to the executive who trades his basic salary for
Yavne Dismissal 2:05 luxurious, but not life sustaining, benefits.
•••••• In life we must clarify our priorities and identify our challenges—and on Rosh Hashanah we do
just that: We acknowledge our life-long priorities by proclaiming Hashem as King, the Almighty
OCTOBER 4-5 Sovereign of creation. And this is the theme and hope expressed in our tefilos at this time.
Erev Yom Kippur/Yom Kippur Thus, what we consider to be essential and critical facets of life may, in actuality, only be of
NO SCHOOL relative importance. A studied look at the text of our tefillos reveals our complete
preoccupation with exalted world of our spiritual purpose in life—for even our heartfelt
•••••• prayer to be inscribed in sefer hachaim, the Book of Life, is "l'maancha, for Your sake
(Hashem)."
OCTOBER 6-19
Our declarative and definitive expression of Hakadosh Baruch Hu's undisputed Sovereignty is
Succos Vacation accomplished through introspection, evaluation, rededication and an acknowledgement that
mankind's sojourn in this world—in the end—amounts to little more than a flock of sheep
7:03 walking single-file toward their judgement.
As we acknowledge the Sovereignty of Hashem on Rosh Hashanah, may we be worthy of His
benevolence and protection. May we be inscribed in the sefer hachaim for a Shana Tova – a
year blessed with good health, peace, prosperity and nachas from our children and one
another. Have a wonderful Shabbos!

Yasher koach to approximately twenty eighth graders who volunteered for the community’s Kemach distribution this
week. We are proud of your efforts and contributions on behalf of the klei Kodesh of our community!
The Junior High also launched its campaign for Matan B’Seyser, also helping provide for the needy in our community.
The Junior High held an assembly this week in conjunction with the yahrzeit of the Chofetz Chaim zt”l. The assembly
included Tehillim, stories, learning from the Chofetz Chaim’s Mishna Berura and Shemiras HaLashon. May we all
continue to learn from his inspired life and teachings.
Yeshiva Ketana
Rabbi Janowski's class, under the direction of Art teacher, Mrs.
Chen, had a blast in the art room working on their Sukkos project!
Mazel tov to sixth grader

finished Seder Nezikin ka”h). Mordy celebrated the
siyum, with his father in attendance, together with
the rest of Rabbi Udman’s class.
Mazel Tov to Rabbi and Mrs. Ruck on the upsherin
of their son, Yisroel. The upsherin was performed
by Rabbi Asher Newman with Rabbi Ruck and his
talmidim in attendance. May all the berachos and segulos come true.
Early Childhood
Our kinderlach learned so much about Rosh HaShanah. They know that on Rosh HaShanah we daven and ask Hashem
for a sweet new year, we say I’m sorry to each other, and have to be quiet as we listen to the sound of the shofar. They
know to wish each other a “Shana Tovah” and about the simanim. They are proud and excited to bring home all their
beautiful projects and to share what they learned with their families on yom tov.
Wishing everyone a כתיבה וחתימה טובה- a year filled health, full of nachas and joy!

Yavne High School
The High School G.O. broke out their theme on Wednesday with
much excitement, which is “Ashira L’HaShem Bechayai” “Dance to
the beat”. Mrs. Shani Kohn inspired the girls with her meaningful
message, singing our praises to HaShem not only in times of simcha
but also in times of sorrow. Following the breakout, the girls enjoyed
a beautiful day at Ramsayer Farms, going on hay rides, navigating a
corn maze and enjoying a delicious lunch. It was an amazing oppor-
tunity to build achdus and build on the incredible ruach of
Yavne. Thank you to our team of mechanchos for accompanying the girls on the trip. Thank you to Mrs. Pessie Saks for
supervising our new G.O. Team: Leah Horowitz, Sari Kohn, Shayna Kutoff and Devorah Naomi Maimon.
We are proud of all our Mishmeres heads for being true role models of the
message they were chosen to share! Their breakout was so well done – beau-
tiful setup, game, and snack and most of all, a lasting message of the power
of unity.
We are blown away by
the fantastic turnout at
our first parent discus-
sion meeting titled
“Navigating the Yomim
Noraim with our
Teens”. The fact that busy mothers took the time to come out on
a Sunday before Rosh HaShanah and join the discussion is a tes-
tament to their dedication to the chinuch of their daughters and is sure to impact their daughter’s tefilla for life! Ques-
tions were raised, ideas were discussed and suggestions were made. We are excited to share that, based on the sug-
gestion of two mothers, we ordered beautiful bookmarks for our students and are dedicating time to prepare the girls
to follow in the machzor. May our joint efforts be matzliach to foster a love and connection to their tefilos.
This week, class time has been dedicated
to preparing for Rosh HaShanah. In addi-
tion to the bookmarks and prep classes,
Rabbi Baum, Rabbi Stoll, Mrs. Roffman and
Mrs. Resnick each prepared one topic or
tefilla in depth and rotated presenting it to
all four grades. The Shavua Iyun culminat-
ed with inspirational words by Rabbi Sim-
cha Dessler. Wishing us all a meaningful
yom tov and a kesiva vachasima tova.
Super impressive: the bulletin boards that our seventh graders designed and created in their classrooms.

Yavne High School (continued)
The library at Yavne, always a beautiful space, has recently become even more
inviting. We have opened up the room and moved our large assortment of
contemporary Jewish fiction to the front, making it extra-accessible to our
students. Each reader is invited to “rate” her book after she reads it, and we are
posting the ratings on a bulletin board so the girls can see which books their
friends recommend. Our selection of self-improvement books, both interesting
and motivating, are of special interest during the months of Elul and Tishrei. One
and all are invited to drop by and borrow a few books or just to spend a few
minutes browsing. Thank you to Mrs. Abigail Rozen and Mrs. Nechama Kutner for
their continued efforts to make our library a
valuable resource for our students.
Yavne 9th graders have started their STEM
classes exploring concepts in engineering.
This past week, some of our STEM students
took on the challenge of building mechanical
toys using instructions written only
in Chinese (but with pictures). In the next
few classes they will examine how they
move and then take them apart to assemble different toys using the same pieces.
Kindergarten
Thank you to Beri Elkan, in Morah Modes and Morah
Mindy’s class, who demonstrated tekias shofar for us
in Kindergarten! Our students are very busy learning
all about the upcoming yom tov of Rosh HaShanah. At
left is Eli Solganick playing a game with the moznayim.
Fun Friday was fabulous! The
whole kindergarten came
together to read The Teeny Tiny
Teacher by Stephanie Kalmenson. The repetitive text in the book
had all the students joining in. In this book, everything is so tiny!
Dice are chairs and dominoes are tables. We looked at other tiny
objects used in the book as well. After, we had a teeny tiny snack in
our classroom, just like the students in the book! Everyone enjoyed
having teeny tiny cups of apple juice, chocolate chips and mini
marshmallows. Yum!

Girls Elementary
In honor of starting Shemone Esrei, a monumental milestone, all three
third grades gathered together for an assembly. They heard an inspiring
story, received decorative crown cookies and walked away tall and proud,
with the appreciation for the gift of Shemone Esrei.
At an opening assembly on Wednesday, our sixth graders were
introduced to our special Bas Mitzvah program focusing on the seven
Nevios. we will share further details as they move along in this beautiful
curriculum.
Feelings of anticipation for Rosh HaShanah are in the air as the Moros are
eagerly preparing their students for the upcoming yom tov. Fifth graders
are sure to be prepared for the Rosh HaShanah davening. They spent time
and effort placing book marks in many of the different tefilos which will help them follow along during davening. May
the Shomea Tefilla answer all their sincere and heartfelt tefilos.
Morah Libersohn's first graders decorated adorable honey jars. We are sure they will enhance their yom tov table.
Mrs. Dimarsky's class created beautiful apple cookies which looked too pretty to eat.
Some of our fifth graders brought in shofros from home and they did such a great job with them that Mrs. Ribiat
invited them into her fourth grade class to share their knowledge and expertise as we prepare for Rosh HaShanah.
Taylor Road 3:30 Pick- Up Reminder
Parents, the bus lanes, and directly in front of the building, are not to be used for pick up between 3:00 and 3:40. We
would like to avoid parents being ticketed and ensure a safe dismissal for our bus riders.
If you need to pick your daughter up after 3:00, please park in a proper parking spot on Blanche, Berkley, or across the
street from the main entrance. Thank you for your cooperation.
Our Nachas!
